Tears stream down my face as I stumble through the woods. There’s only a half moon so I’m mostly surrounded by darkness, there’s just enough light to stop me from walking into trees or falling on my face. I hear the occasional twig snap behind me or small animals scamper but I don’t think Kane is following me. My mind is racing as I walk. If I’m truly not a joke to him, how could he treat me like this? Why would him and Clay single me out like they have? And why bother keeping up with the joke when the ruse is up?
