Prologue
In the Land of Mist, there was a skilled assassin named ‘Hanabi’ who wishes freedom from the Black Marketers whom she was forced to work with.
“Quitting was like a suicide, Hanabi,” Hayabusa said while crossing his arms. He looked at the girl with concerned eyes.
Hanabi sighed, “I know it is risky but I’m tired enough to continue. I want a normal life at least before I die.”
That’s true. All her life she has been working as an assassin. She didn’t experience what those normal people do. As she traveled from place to place to hunt her targets, she started to envy those people having a vacation and taking pictures as memories, those who do shopping until they ran out of money and those who just stayed with their houses just draining their energy thinking about how life sucked the whole day.
“We’ve been here working for fifteen freaking years. Weren’t you tired mercilessly taking someone’s life because of an order? Never thought of their families losing someone precious to them?” Hanabi blabbered which made Hayabusa’s forehead creased.
“I wonder where those thoughts came from? Since when did you start to care about those lives we took?” confused Haya asked.
They were five years old back then when wealthy couples adopted them. Some thought they were lucky but for Hanabi, that was the start of her nightmare. They were trained to rob at a very young age. They were taught how to be strong, independent and heartless assassins in their teen years. Wasting fifteen years of her life was enough to finally ask for freedom.
Hanabi sighed heavily. “I don’t know. I just want a normal life. That’s it.”
“Was it because of Siraiah? You’ve become a stalker eversince you assassinated her parents.” Hayabusa guessed.
Hanabi closed her eyes. Hayabusa surely knew her. They’re childhood friends and assassination buddies anyways. She nods, refusing to deny that the man in front of her was right. That Siraiah girl awakened her sleeping conscience and almost disappeared heart.
Hayabusa hugged Hanabi while tapping her back. “It’s alright, Hanabi. Remember what our adoptive parents said? After serving the Black organization for ten years, we can finally ask for freedom.”
“I clearly remembered that,” Hanabi looked up at Hayabusa, “Are you planning to stay here for life?”
Hayabusa laughed loudly as he broke the hug. “Of course not! You should leave first and after two years, I’ll follow.”
“Of course, you won’t leave that white-haired girl.” Hanabi rolled her eyes.
“Don’t act like a jealous girlfriend. You’ll always be the number one girl in my life, little sis.” Hayabusa joked as he loves seeing Hanabi’s irritated reaction.
“Whatever. I’ll be going. General will give me my last mission. Wish me luck.” Hanabi bid goodbye and made her way to General’s office.
“Hanabi Essyle Pschyme. Your last mission will be on Ceurope’s Kingdom. You need to find their only Prince. Lure him away from the kingdom and convince him to refuse in take over the throne.” General said.
“Should I just kill him to finish this mission quickly?” Hanabi answered while crossing her arms.
General shook his head. “Don’t dare or you will be hunted all your life. Your freedom is going to waste if that happens.”
“I see. Give me all the information needed for this mission.” Hanabi sat on the soft single sofa.
“The target is a twenty year old Prince named Gusion Rio Cross. He lived outside the Ceurope Castle since he hated his life as a prince. That was an advantage for you. All you need to do is to ensure that he would not change his mind about not being the next King.” General explained.
Hanabi smirked, “Easy peasy.”
Meanwhile at the Ceurope Kingdom...
“Find Prince Gusion now!” Head servant shouted the moment he discovered that Prince Gusion’s nowhere to be found.
“What’s with the commotion?” Princess Ria Valentina asked.
The head servant bowed his head, “Prince Gusion is missing again. Princess Guinevere Lavynne will be arriving soon.”
Ria laughed out loud, “Why are you panicking then? They knew where to meet each other outside the castle. Don’t waste your time finding someone who doesn’t want to be found in the first place.”
Princess Ria Valentina knew her younger brother doesn’t want to be a prince and chose to rebel against their Father’s will.
“Enjoy your freedom for now, little brat. Let’s see how long you could escape your fate. It’s either you agree and become a king or abondone your life as a prince. It excites me if he’s going to refuse taking the responsibility.” Ria smirked.
In the city of Ceurope, Gusion was standing in front of the Money changer. He exchanged his golden coin for a thousand of Ceuro Money currency. The pawnshop clerk gave the twenty five thousand Ceuro money and thanked him for the smooth transaction. Gusion put the money inside his wallet and came inside the Fancy Cafe.
He looked at his limited edition watch and saw that it’s almost lunch time now. “She’s supposed to be here by now.”
The moment he rested his arms in the table, his cellphone rang. He picked it from his pocket and checked the caller. A slight smile formed on his lips before answering the call. “You’re late. Something came up?”
He heard the girl tsked over the phone. “I hate you! You didn’t wait for me!”
Gusion laughed, “Sorry Guivynne, I won’t be a able to escape if I waited for you. I’m already here at the Cafe, come quickly.”
“Whatever, Gurio.” Guinevere teased Gusion by combining his two names which made the guy’s forehead creased.
Gusion was about to blow a retort when Guinevere suddenly ended the call. His mouth was halfway open and ended as a sigh. “That crazy woman.”
After a few minutes, a Curly brown haired girl approached Gusion. “Hey!” she said in a sweet tone. She flipped her medieval braided hair to the side before sitting next to Gusion. “Good noon to you, Gurio.”
Gusion slightly scrunch Guinevere’s face to get even to her. “Stop calling me with that name Guivynne.”
“Eh, you’re so cruel!” Guinevere blindly strikes Gusion.
The people around them were giggling since they look so cute while teasing each other. After their cute little fight, they ordered food for lunch. While waiting for the food, Guinevere spoke. “Gus, are you going to take over the throne someday?”
Gusion was shocked for a few seconds and cleared his throat. “I, I don’t know yet. Why?”
Guinevere makes a cute face, “If you are. Can I be your Queen? Pretty please?”
Gusion laughed and pinched Guinevere’s cheeks. “Silly. I’ll think about it. I’m a picky Prince, just to inform you.” he snickered.
The girl pouted, “I know, that’s why I’m telling you in advance.”
The food was served which saves Gusion from that uncomfortable topic. There’s no doubt that Princess Guinevere Lavynne Herarria possessed the qualities of a Queen. She was a beautiful, elegant, kind hearted and intelligent woman. The only problem? Gusion who’s still undecided what path to take in the future.
Gusion cannot promise anything to anyone. If he’s going to follow his heart, surely, he will not take over the throne. But, if fate forces him to take responsibility he will be left with no choice.
Once upon a time, Gusion Rio Cross and Hanabi Essyle Pschyme lived a totally different path until fate intertwined their lives and made it a complicated messy life. They stick together for their own reason and collided with mutual feelings.
Where will their feelings bring them? Will their hearts choose to meet halfway? Or choose to take a different path and split up in the end?
