CHAPTER 5: JUST SIT AND LOOK PRETTY

1168 Words
CHAPTER 5 Megan jolted awake. Her breath hitched, and a cold sweat drenched her entire body. Her eyes blinked repeatedly, trying to catch the shadows around her. This wasn't a narrow alleyway smelling of trash, nor was it a burning yacht. The ceiling above her was incredibly high, filled with gold carvings that looked insanely expensive. "Damn... where the hell am I?" Megan muttered, her voice incredibly raspy. She tried to sit up, but her head immediately throbbed. When she looked down, her eyes widened. She was no longer wearing her shabby clothes covered in mud and blood. Now, she was wearing a champagne-colored silk nightgown that felt impossibly soft against her skin. The last thing she remembered was passing out due to too much blood splatterd everywhere and dead bodies "Hey, where are my clothes?! Who changed me, you asshole?!" Megan panicked, fumbling over her own body, terrified that something was missing or that she had been violated. Suddenly, the massive bedroom door opened. A young lady about her age came in a black-and-white maid uniform, carrying a silver tray. "Good afternoon, Miss. Are you awake? I've brought warm soup and medicine," the maid said in a flat voice, perfectly polite but feeling cold. "Hey! Don't come any closer! Who are you?! Where am I?!" Megan immediately grabbed a ceramic flower vase from the bedside table. "I'm asking you one more time, who changed my clothes?! If you don't answer, I'll c***k your head open with this vase!" "Calm down, Miss Megan. I was the one who changed your clothes under Mr. Felix's orders. My name is Sulli, I am housekeeper here," the maid replied "I don't care what your name is! Get me out of here right now! Where is that ungrateful bastard?! Tell him to get over here!" Megan screamed, her hand holding the vase shaking even harder. "Mr. Felix is currently under medical care, Miss. His gunshot wound from yesterday was quite severe. He requested that you rest here for the time being." "Rest, my ass! This is k********g, you know?! I'll report all of you to the police!" "Feel free, if you can find your phone. But my advice is, you should eat first. You've been unconscious for nearly twenty hours." "Twenty hours?! Holy s**t, was I unconscious or in a coma?!" Megan was shocked. "I don't give a damn about food! I'm leaving! Open the door!" "Mr. Felix does not permit you to leave this room without direct instructions from him." "Huh?! Who does he think he is, huh?! God?! He's not, right?! Get out of here before I actually throw this vase!" Megan braced herself to hurl it. "Very well, Miss. I will leave the food here. Please eat it before it gets cold." Sulli placed the tray on the table and slowly backed away. CRASH! The flower vase flew and shattered into pieces right against the door that Sulli had just closed. Megan was panting. She climbed out of bed, ran to the door, and tried to turn the handle. "Dammit! It's locked?!" Megan pounded on the door with her fists. "Hey! Open up! Help! Is anyone out there?! I'm being kidn*pped! Help me, you bastards!”There was no answer. Only dead silence. Megan turned to the large glass window across the room. She ran toward it, hoping for a balcony or a way to escape. When she pulled back the curtains, her heart nearly stopped. This room was on the second or third floor, and down below, in a garden as vast as a football field, were men in black suits carrying long-barreled weapons. "Crazy... I've really walked into a den of thieves," Megan whispered weakly. She leaned against the glass, tears starting to fall again. "God, what did I do to deserve this? First I'm betrayed by James, and now I'm locked up by a ungrateful psychopath." Megan went back to the bed, bowing her head while clutching her hair. She felt like her head was going to explode. While she was busy mourning her fate, she heard the sound of a key turning from the outside. Click. The door opened slowly. Megan immediately went on high alert, looking for something else to throw but finding nothing but a pillow. Just as she was about to scream, the figure who entered rendered her speechless. Felix Orlando. The man sat in an electric wheelchair. His face was still deathly pale, and bandages were visible beneath his black silk pajamas, which had the top buttons undone. But his eyes... those eyes remained sharp, cold, and seemed capable of reading everything inside her brain. "Are you done with your little tantrum?" Felix asked in a heavy voice that made the hair on Megan's neck stand up. "You... you're a horrible person! Give me back my clothes! I want to go home!" Megan stood up, trying to look brave even though her legs felt like jelly. Felix turned his wheelchair, moving further into the room. "Home to where? The rented room that's already been seized? Or to your ex's house, where he's busy screwing your best friend?" "Don't you dare bring that up! That's my personal business. Regardless, I don't want to be here! You kidn*pped me, didn't you?!" "kidn*pped? I saved your life from Luciano's men yesterday, and this is how you repay me? Screaming like a lunatic in my house?" Felix snorted cynically. "Do you realize that if I had left you on that yacht yesterday, you'd be shark bait by now?" "I'd rather be shark bait than locked up like this! I don't know you, Felix! I just helped you in an alley! You should have just said thank you and let me go!” "I will never let go of what belongs to me, Megan. Especially someone who has seen me dying and knows my secrets." "Belongs to you?! Since when did I become yours?! I'm a human being, you i***t! Not an object!" Megan was fuming. She approached Felix, intending to slap him, but her hand was immediately intercepted by Felix, with a powerful grip. "Ow! That hurts, dammit! Let go!" Megan winced. Felix pulled Megan's hand until their faces were only inches apart. Megan could smell the scent of medicine mixed with expensive masculine perfume coming from him. "Listen to me, Megan. You've stepped in too deep. Yesterday was a serious attack. My enemies now know there's a girl who saved me. If you walk out of those gates without my protection, you'll be dead within minutes. Do you want to die a senseless death just for the sake of your ego?" "That's your problem! Why do I have to deal with it?! Give me protection if you want, but don't lock me up like this!" "This is the best protection I can offer. This room is bulletproof; this house is guarded twenty-four hours a day by my best men." Felix released Megan's hand roughly. "Just sit tight, eat well, and wear nice clothes. How hard is that?”
