CHAPTER 3: I CAN HELP YOU GET REVENGE

1523 Words
As the morning drew near, sunlight pierced through the glass windows, Megan woke up feeling someone staring at her. She blinked her swollen, heavy eyes. The first thing she saw was a pair of sharp, dark eyes staring at her with an intensity that seemed to pierce her soul. Felix was conscious. He was wearing an oxygen mask, but his eyes showed full awareness. His hand still held Megan's wrist, though not as tightly as the night before."You're... awake?" Megan asked in a raspy voice. "Felix? Can you hear me?" Felix didn't answer. He just kept staring at Megan with an unreadable expression. There was curiosity, dominance, and something dark there that made Megan feel both intimidated and transfixed. Ahem... so... can you let go of my hand now? I'm seriously aching. I've been standing by your side since last night," Megan tried to pull her hand away slowly.Instead, Felix tightened his grip again. He shook his head slightly, a very small but firm movement. "Hey! Why are you gripping harder?! Look, you're safe! The doctor said you're stable! So let me go now, I want to go home!" Megan started to get annoyed. "My job is done, okay?! And I'm really tired and pissed off. I saved your life, now let me go!" Felix removed his oxygen mask with his free left hand, his movements slow but clearly painful. He coughed slightly before finally speaking in a voice that made the hair on Megan's neck stand up. "No one... is allowed... to leave..." "What do you mean?! Or did the bullet made you loose your memory! I'm not your prisoner! I'm your savior, you i***t!" Megan glared. "Hey, anyone outside! Help me! Your boss is awake but he's gone even crazier!" The door opened, and the large man from the night before entered with a look of relief on his face. "Mr. Felix! You're awake?! Thank God!" "Take... her... to the master bedroom..." Felix ordered his subordinate, his eyes never leaving Megan's face. "Yes, Master." "Master bedroom?! Hey, listen here, Mr. Psycho! I'm going back to my apartment! I mean... I'm leaving! I don't want to be here!" Megan struggled as the large man approached her. "The Master said the master bedroom, so that's where you're going. Don't complain if you still value your life," the man threatened. "I'm not afraid to die! I was going to kill myself last night, remember?!" Megan challenged. "Let me go, you bastard! You all are so ungrateful!" "Take her now." Felix gave the final command before closing his eyes again from exhaustion. Megan was forced to her feet and dragged out of the medical room. Her hand finally came free from Felix's grip only because he had drifted off again from the lingering effects of the anesthesia. However, before Megan could run, two guards grabbed her arms firmly. "Let go! I can walk!" Megan screamed all the way down the corridors of the magnificent mansion. "You all do not have brains! I helped you and instead of a reward or a thank you at least, you lock them up! You low-class mafia thugs!" "Shut up, Noisy Girl! One more scream and I'm putting you in the dog kennel!" one of the guards barked. Megan was eventually taken to an exclusive upper floor. They stopped in front of a large teak door with intricate carvings. The guard opened the door and shoved Megan inside. "Wait here until Mr. Felix calls for you. Don't try to escape unless you want a bullet in your brains," the guard said before slamming the door and locking it from the outside. Megan stood frozen, staring at the incredibly luxurious room. It was probably five times the size of her old apartment. There was a king-size bed with black silk sheets, a leather sofa that looked extremely expensive, and a balcony overlooking a vast garden with a shimmering swimming pool. "Crazy... this really is a gilded cage," Megan murmured. She walked toward the balcony, trying to find a way out, but she saw many armed guards patrolling below. "I'm screwed. I've really been kidn*pped by a mafia boss." Megan sat on the edge of the bed, feeling the softness of the silk beneath her hands. She saw her reflection in the large mirror in front of her. Her hair was a mess, her face was stained with mud and dried blood, and her clothes were tattered and torn. She looked in stark contrast to the luxury of the room. "Why did I have to meet him last night? Why didn't I just run when I saw him bleeding?" Megan regretted her decision. "Now I'm trapped in God-knows-where with God-knows-who." Suddenly, the sound of a key turning in the lock echoed. Megan immediately stood up on guard, grabbing a small ceramic flower vase from the nightstand as a weapon. The door opened, and a middle-aged woman in a neat maid's uniform entered carrying a tray of food and new clothes. "Good morning, Miss Megan. I have been asked to bring you your necessities," the maid said politely but expressionlessly. "I don't need clothes! I need to get out of here! Tell your boss if he really wants to repay the favor, give me some money and let me go!" Megan pointed the vase at her. "I'm sorry, Miss. I am only following Mr. Felix's orders. You are requested to bathe and change. After that, a medical team will check your injuries,”And also please make sure you eat if you don't want to get on Mr.Felix bad side, the maid replied as if she didn't even see the vase in Megan's hand. "I'm not injured! The blood on my clothes is your boss's!" Megan screamed in frustration. "Do you hear me?! I want to go home!" "Mr. Felix said that starting today, this is your home. You have nowhere else to go, do you?" the maid asked in a tone that suddenly felt very piercing. Megan fell silent. Those words hit her right in the gut. The maid was right. She really had nowhere else. Her apartment was gone, her belongings but at least she knew she couldn't stay here."He knows about my life?" Megan asked with a trembling voice. "Mr. Felix knows everything about the people around him, Miss. Especially the person who saved his life," the maid replied while placing the clothes on the bed. "Please bathe, Miss. I will wait outside." After the maid left, Megan slumped to the floor. She covered her face with both hands and began to sob. Fear, exhaustion, and the pain of James's betrayal mixed into one. She felt like a pawn in a game she didn't understand. "You bastard, Felix... you bastard..." she sobbed quietly. Two hours later, after bathing and eating she sat down at the balcony staring at the sky with mixed emotions. Suddenly, she heard the sound of wheels rolling on the marble floor. Megan turned and saw Felix entering the room. The man was in a wheelchair, pushed by a male nurse. Though he still looked very weak and pale, his gaze remained as sharp as before. "Out," Felix said shortly to the nurse. After the nurse left and closed the door, Felix turned his wheelchair to face Megan directly. A heavy silence filled the room for a few moments. Only the ticking of the wall clock and the breeze from the balcony could be heard. "What... what else do you want from me?" Megan finally spoke, trying to sound brave. Felix looked Megan over from head to toe, as if appraising a valuable item he had just purchased. "Your name is Megan, right?”"You already know, don't bother asking," Megan snapped. Felix smirked slightly, an expression that looked very dangerous on his handsome face. "You're brave. It's rare for someone to dare speak to me like that." "I have nothing left to fear, Felix. You want to kill me? Go ahead. I'd actually thank you for doing it now rather than locking me up like this," Megan challenged. Felix moved his wheelchair closer until his knees nearly touched hers.He reached out, touching Megan's chin and lifting it so they were looking at each other. "I'm not going to kill my savior, Megan. That's not my style," Felix whispered, his voice low and raspy. "But I'm not going to let you go either. You've seen my face, you've seen my wound, and you know where I live. You belong to me now." "Belong to you?! Am I an object?!" Megan brushed Felix's hand away roughly. "Listen, Mr. Mafia. I helped you because I couldn't stand to see someone die, not because I wanted to be your pet! So you'd better give me some bus fare and let's just pretend last night never happened!" "Last night was fate, Megan. And I never fight fate," Felix stared at her with an intensity that made Megan feel suffocated. "Do you know what happened to your fiancé, James?" He said, with a smirk on his handsome face. Hearing that name, Megan's heart seemed to stop beating. "James? You know where he is?!”
