"The Legal Affairs : A love story"
Episode 1 "Threads of Fate: The Friend Request"
On October 11, 2022, Under the soft glow of a fading October sunset, Saman found herself scrolling through her social media when a new request popped up. She glanced at the name and paused. "Isn’t this the guy from my insta friend’s story?" she thought, remembering how her friend had posted a picture some time ago, holding someone’s hand. For a second, Saman assumed he was probably her friend’s boyfriend.
But curiosity kicked in. "Why are these guys always dating these girls? What’s wrong with me?" she had jokingly wondered to herself back then, half-serious, half-playful. Maybe, she thought, in some way, she had manifested this moment.
His profile picture was unclear, his face mostly hidden, but still, Saman decided to accept the request and follow him back. A few days later, as she posted a story, The days drifted by like clouds lazily floating across the sky. And then, out of the blue, a response – “I object " It was a simple reply to a story she had posted, but there was, something enchanting about the way he reached out, as if their worlds had quietly aligned in the vast expanse of the digital And soon, they were chatting back and forth, their conversations becoming a regular part of her day.
As their conversations deepened, Saman and Tabish began to share more about their lives. Tabish often talked about his family and his beloved cats, while Saman told him stories about her siblings and the things her father used to say. She would often mention how her father teased her for eating too much outside food, adding a touch of humor to their chats.
Then, one day during a playful exchange, Saman teasingly said, "I hate you," and Tabish, with a lighthearted grin, responded, "Don’t, just say it in reverse." It was a subtle hint, but it made her smile. Another time, he joked that he loved her dad more than her, giving yet another playful clue that he was starting to fall for her. He even said, "If you go for a guy next time, ask the expert advice," clearly referring to himself. She laughed and replied, "Sure, I will."
Over time, their connection grew stronger. Though Tabish was the first to fall, Saman soon realized her feelings for him were even deeper. One morning, he called her "baby," and from that moment, they both started using it, adding a layer of warmth to their relationship.
After months of chatting, they finally decided to meet. Tabish picked Saman up from her university, and they went out for brunch. As they ordered, Saman accidentally chose the wrong pizza – a mushroom pizza, despite not liking mushrooms. She pushed the mushrooms aside, and when the pizza arrived, Tabish asked, "Was this the one you were talking about?" Saman laughed and admitted it was a mistake. She was too full to finish, so she asked him to take the pizza home.
Later, Tabish teased her, claiming the mushrooms had made him sick. They laughed about it, and he playfully accused her of ordering the wrong pizza on purpose, turning the mishap into another fond memory in their growing story.
As their connection blossomed, life brought them even closer. Tabish, already a practicing lawyer at the district court, and Saman, an intern just starting her journey in 2022, found themselves crossing paths outside their chats. One day at court, Saman spotted him from a distance. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw him standing there, and then, almost as if he sensed her, Tabish called her upstairs.
When they met, he smiled at her in that familiar, comforting way. Gently, he reached out and patted her head lovingly. It was a small gesture, but one that said so much. After a brief moment, she left, but they met again that evening after court. Sitting together, chatting like they always did, something felt different—stronger.
From that day on, their love began to grow even deeper. Each meeting, each conversation only solidified the connection they shared. What started as a chance i********: request had transformed into something beautiful, a bond that was now unshakable.
After that day, their bond grew even more. Saman and Tabish couldn’t go a day without messaging each other. "Good morning," "good evening," and "good night" became a ritual, and they shared updates about everything, from meals to weekend plans. Their conversations became a constant thread throughout their days, and they started meeting more frequently, sometimes daily or at least every few weeks.
Episode 2 "Family Ties: Building Bridges.
In 2023, things took a more serious turn. Saman decided to tell her sister and mother about Tabish, letting them know that she liked him. Meanwhile, Tabish was doing the same. Nervously, he sent a picture of Saman to his mother, telling her, "I like this girl. Please take it seriously." As his mother was busy cooking, he anxiously waited for her to check her phone. When she didn’t, he gently urged her, "Can you check the picture I sent?"
When his mother finally saw the picture, they had a quiet discussion that evening, involving Tabish’s father. After much consideration, his parents decided to meet Saman’s family.
The day of the meeting, Saman was beyond excited. Her nerves got the best of her, and she ended up talking a lot in front of Tabish’s family, showing her energetic side. This made Tabish feel a little disappointed, as he wanted everything to go perfectly. However, despite the initial awkwardness, the meeting went well.
A few days later, on September 16, 2023, Tabish’s mother sent Saman a Snapchat request. Saman accepted it, and from that day on, they started chatting more often. Saman would receive texts from her every night, and the connection between the families began to grow, just like the bond between Saman and Tabish.
Tabish's mother soon became incredibly fond of Saman. When her birthday came around, Saman was out of town in Indore for a relative's wedding. Despite the distance, she made sure to send a cake, which brought a huge smile to his mother’s face. She sent a heartfelt message to Saman, saying, “Thank you so much, beta. I love you.” That small gesture strengthened their bond.
In April, it was Saman’s turn to be celebrated. For her birthday, Tabish’s mother bought her a thoughtful gift—a beautiful bag. It wasn’t just the bag that made the moment special; she also sent Saman her Eidi, despite Saman not being able to visit. It was clear how much she was cared for.
Eid in 2023 brought another joyful moment. Saman’s family visited Tabish’s home, and Tabish gave Eidi to Saman’s siblings, a gesture that warmed her heart even more. It wasn’t just a sign of affection; it was an embrace of the bond growing between their families.
Later that year, Tabish’s mother, his brother, uncle, and aunt came over to Saman’s house for a meal. Saman, being the wonderful host she is, cooked an elaborate spread that included chicken biryani, butter chicken, chole, and a dessert she was particularly good at. The family loved every bite, and Tabish’s brother teasingly asked, "Why did you ask her to cook so much?" The atmosphere was filled with laughter and warmth, and they even sent some of the food to Tabish, who couldn’t stop praising Saman’s biryani.
As time passed, even when Saman and Tabish had their little arguments, they always found their way back to each other, talking as if nothing had ever happened. Their love was strong enough to weather any storm.
In 2024, Tabish’s mother visited again with another uncle and aunt. This time, Saman met Tabish’s cousins, Inaya and jianna, and they all instantly hit it off. Saman enjoyed their company, and it was clear that everything was falling into place. The connection between their families continued to grow, and now everyone is wondering—when will the wedding bells ring?
As their conversations flowed effortlessly, Saman felt a curiosity bubbling within her. One day, she decided to ask Tabish, “Why did you decide to send me a friend request?”
He smiled and shared an interesting story. While scrolling through i********:, he had come across a page showcasing an artist’s work. The artist had recently made a sketch of Saman, and as he admired the art, he felt a surge of curiosity. “I wondered who this person was,” he said. “Is she really as beautiful as the sketch?” This curiosity led him to send her a friend request, marking the beginning of their enchanting journey together.
"Moments woven in love"
After Saman's birthday, Tabish gifted her a black suit, mentioning that he had never seen her in black. She cherished the suit deeply and decided to save it for a special occasion, which was Bakra Eid. On that day, she wore the black suit, feeling connected to him in a special way. The suit became incredibly close to her heart because it was something Tabish had chosen for her. Whether it's something as simple as a stone or a gift like the suit, anything Tabish picks for her holds immense value, and she treasures it forever.
Tabish's influence didn’t just stop at gifts. He inspired Saman to change and grow into a better version of herself. Once, Tabish asked her not to go without a dupatta when there were many people around. That small comment led her to start carrying it daily, as she wanted to reflect the qualities he appreciated. Saman also began to notice how much she had changed since meeting Tabish. She used to get irritated easily and overthink things, but over time, with his love and support, she gradually became more relaxed and mindful. Her love for Tabish motivated her to align herself with the things he liked and valued. Every step of her transformation was a testament to how much she admired him and was willing to grow for him. Though she feels she's doing better now, she continues to strive for further growth, all in an effort to match the admiration and love she has for him.
As if the suit wasn’t enough, Tabish also gifted Saman a watch. From the day he gave it to her, she never goes without it. The watch became a constant on her wrist, a piece of him that she carries wherever she goes. For Saman, wearing that watch is like carrying his love with her, making it one of her most cherished possessions.
Saman, while not the best at baking, often bakes for Tabish on his request, because she loves doing anything for him. Whether it’s cookies or muffins, she puts her whole heart into it, baking with utmost love. If it’s for him, she’s even willing to bake at 2 a.m. in the morning just to make him happy. Saman can't wait each day to see him; even just a glance of him is enough to make her day. She is now completely and madly in love with him, and every little thing she does reflects how deeply she admires him.
Episode-3 "Between Vows and Prayers".
Despite the growing closeness between Saman and Tabish’s families, Saman’s side had chosen to keep their relationship private from their extended relatives. Only her parents and siblings knew about it, as they wanted to wait until everything reached a final stage before disclosing it more widely. In contrast, Tabish’s family had already shared the news with their relatives, which was why his aunt and uncle had visited Saman. Still, Saman' s family agreed to keep their relatives in the dark for the time being.
Recently, something serious happened in Saman’s family. Her grandmother (nanny) had a terrible accident—she fell down the stairs and suffered a severe injury to the back of her head. It was a deep and concerning injury that required her to be hospitalized immediately. Naturally, this caused a lot of worry in Saman’s household.
That same day, while Saman was talking to Tabish’s mother, she shared the incident about her grandmother’s fall. Tabish's mother was genuinely concerned and immediately called Saman’s mom to offer support. She even suggested that they meet soon to check on Saman’s grandmother in person. Showing immense kindness and concern, Tabish’s parents made the effort to visit the hospital, which deeply touched Saman and her family.
Tabish's parents visited the hospital to check on Saman's grandmother (nani) after her accident. When they arrived, Saman’s entire family was present—her uncle, aunt, mamu, and other close relatives. Since many people were visiting nani during her hospitalization, Saman’s relatives didn’t take much notice of who had come to see her. They treated it casually, assuming it was just another concerned visitor. However, Saman felt a wave of relief as her family remained unaware of the true nature of the visit and the bond between her and Tabish’s family stayed discreet.
After a few more days, when nani was finally discharged from the hospital, As days passed, nani’s condition worsened, and the family grew increasingly worried.
Her condition still seemed frail. Saman’s mother, seeing how fragile nani had become, decided it was time to break the news to her, even though they had intended to wait. They gently told her that they had found someone special for Saman. Though nani was still recovering in the hospital, the news bought.
The family continued to worry as she insisted that she wanted to see everyone settled before her health worsened further. She became more persistent, asking Saman's mother to move forward with things as soon as possible. Every day, nani would say, "saman ki mangni krdo mere saamne".
Saman’s mother, wanting to ease her concerns, reassured her, saying, "Don't worry, we'll do everything in time. First, we need you to recover fully." Despite her mother’s calm responses, Saman could see how nani's eagerness was growing.
Feeling that the time was right, Saman’s family finally decided to share the full story with everyone. They told them about Tabish and his family, explaining that Saman had been seeing someone. Initially, there was a mix of surprise and curiosity, but when they revealed that Tabish and his family had already visited the hospital without anyone realizing it, everything started to make sense. The casual interactions during nani’s hospital stay suddenly had new meaning, and the family was relieved that the news had been broken naturally, without causing a stir.
Now, everyone in Saman’s family knew about her relationship with Tabish, and while some relatives were taken aback by the sudden revelation, most were supportive and understood why they had kept it private until things were more certain.
While Saman’s nani was still recovering, another major event was fast approaching: the weddings of Saman’s two sisters, planned for November. With only a month left, the entire family was bustling with preparations. Despite the excitement, there was a shared concern that nani's health was still fragile. Everyone was hoping and praying that she would recover in time to fully enjoy the weddings, shower her granddaughters with blessings, and give her heartfelt duas to the brides. Her presence and prayers were something the entire family cherished, and they all wanted her to be part of these joyous occasions.
Amidst the wedding preparations, there was another significant event being planned: a small family get-together, which would serve as Saman and Tabish’s engagement announcement. After carefully keeping their relationship private, the family now felt it was time to introduce Tabish and his family formally. This engagement would not only celebrate Saman’s commitment to Tabish but also allow everyone to recognize and support their relationship publicly.
The plan was to hold this gathering after the weddings, once everything had settled down. It would be a chance for both families to come together, and for Saman’s relatives to meet Tabish and his family officially. Everyone was looking forward to the engagement, hoping that it would be another joyous occasion for the family.
For now, the wedding preparations had taken a backseat. While the excitement was there, no one could fully focus on the plans with nani's condition weighing heavily on their hearts. Each day, they hoped for good news Inshallah, praying that she would improve enough for them to resume the preparations with joy and peace of mind. The family's love for her and their concern for her health far outweighed any of the details of the weddings.
As Saman’s family focused on her nani’s health, a tender memory came up during one of her conversations with Tabish. While discussing their hopes for her nani’s recovery, Saman remembered a moment frome earlier that year when Tabish had lost his own nani. During her final days, when she was very ill and struggling with her memory, his mother had shown her two pictures of Saman. In one picture, Saman was wearing a dupatta, and in the other, she wasn’t. Despite her frail condition, his nani looked at both pictures and said, "Yeh wali achi hai," pointing to the one where Saman wore the dupatta, His nani had made her preference clear.
Episode 4: The Card and the Confession
Nani's health is improving, much to everyone's relief, and Alhamdulillah she is doing well too.
The excitement of the wedding preparations was growing day by day. After Nani’s health improved, it was finally time to start distributing the wedding cards for Kaynat and Malahat’s big day. For my parents, giving the first card was a gesture of respect and love, and they knew right away who they wanted to begin with—Tabish’s family. They held them in high regard, and it only made sense to start the celebrations by honoring them.
I decided to go along with Ammi and Pappa to hand out the cards, but there was a catch. I was way too shy to face Tabish’s parents in their home. The thought of it made me incredibly nervous, so we struck a little deal—no one would tell his parents that I was there. I stayed quietly in the car while my parents planned to visit Tabish’s family, determined to keep my presence a secret.
However, our plans didn’t quite unfold as expected. The city was bustling with a Hindu community's festival that day, and the streets were packed. Traffic was moving at a snail’s pace, and it became clear that we wouldn’t make it to Tabish’s house as early as we had hoped. So, we changed our plans and decided to stop by Afreen’s house first. We handed over the card, enjoyed some snacks, and after spending a little time there, set off once again for Tabish’s place.
When we finally arrived at Tabish’s house, my parents stuck to the plan and went in without me, keeping their promise not to mention I was waiting outside. I stayed in the car, too shy to face his parents in their home, feeling that it would be way too embarrassing.
But things didn’t quite go as planned. After the visit, as my parents were coming back to the car and Tabish’s parents were seeing them off, Ammi let the secret slip. She casually said, “Saman is waiting.” The response was immediate and surprised: “What? She’s in there? Why didn’t you tell us?”
I felt a wave of embarrassment wash over me as I stepped out of the car. “Oh, I’m sorry,” I mumbled, feeling awkward. Tabish’s mother looked a bit upset and said, “I felt really bad that you came and didn’t visit us.” I could tell she genuinely wanted to see me. There was even Tabish standing there, but I didn’t look at him or offer a smile. It wasn’t because I wanted to ignore him—on the contrary, I was just so shy and embarrassed that I couldn’t bring myself to even glance in his direction. Also I was still a bit angry with him due to a small disagreement we’d had earlier that day.
As we left, Tabish’s mother texted me: “I feel really bad that you did this to us today.” I quickly apologized and promised, “I’ll visit you very soon.” She responded with enthusiasm, “Yes, you have to come very, very, very soon!”
Despite the awkwardness of the situation, I was relieved that there was still warmth in our connection, and I looked forward to making that visit.
