We took our place on the table, and we waited for others to come, we were the first one to arrive.

This time, Chase didn’t sit next to me, he sat across me, (weird) silence filled the air, and awkwardness, luckily, Victoria came.

“Morning “She said and sat next to me; I haven’t seen her yesterday.

“Morning, I haven’t seen you lately “I told her.

“Yeah, I spend every Wednesday in Equestrian Club “she stated.

“Horse riding, interesting, “I expressed to her, I’ve always like horses.

“If you’d like you can come with me one day “She said, I looked at her, how long I’m gonna stay here? I gave her a little smile

“You’re oddly silent today, Hermano, did you have a fight with Cindy?” She asked Chase, and he looked at me.

(If only you know what really happened between them last night Victoria.)

Suddenly, Cindy came, with a large smile on her face, she greeted us before leaning and planting a kiss on Chase’s cheek, giving me a smirk, rolling my eyes at her I took a bite from the bread that was on the table.

“ Eekh.. never mind “Victoria said with disgust in her voice before turning to me.

Later, the rest of the family came, they all exchanged talks, I just ate my breakfast silently, thinking about my dad, missing him.

After breakfast I returned to the room, hopelessly waiting for something to change my current life situation, Chase came in

“Get dressed, we’ll leaving “He told me.

“Where are we going? “I asked

I quickly changed into a warm top and a skirt with boots

I went down towards the exit and found Chase leaning on his car, he saw me and opened the door for me. (nice move)

I got in and he drove, we stayed silent and didn’t share a word, until I finally got the guts to speak

“I Don’t think your girlfriend would like to see me with you again, I said not looking at him

“Cindy understands the situation now, she won’t come at you again, “he spoke, coldly, his eyes on the road.

After about ten minutes, we pulled over a pet clinic, we went inside, and I saw a lot of wounded animals.

(I love animals, nothing hurts me in the world more than seeing a dead or a wounded animal on the street.)

Chase greeted the vet.” Mr Romano, good to see you again “the doctor said. “Good to see you too doctor Renolds, where’s miles? “Chase asked

Then the man went over to a room and came back with a black husky, the dog quickly jumped on Chase, happy to see him, couldn’t stop barking.

Chase played with him a little before suddenly, the dog jumped on me, “MILES NO!” chase yelled, he was about to pull the dog away from me.

Till he was surprised to see me getting along with him, I rubbed him over his stomach, and he kept rolling over, liking every second of it.

I lifted my head to find chase looking at me, surprised.

Our road back to the mansion was way better than the first one, therefore I didn’t sit next to chase in the front, but in the back, playing with miles.

I noticed chase’s eyes shifting from the road to me through the mirror all the time.

Finally, we arrived at the house, and miles didn’t leave my side, I always pleaded my father to bring a dog home, but he always refused, saying they’re a mess and hard to deal with.

(Well, here’s finally a good thing in this place, something to keep me busy at least other than that book.)

Chase told bobby to keep an eye on me, since he had business to deal with and didn’t want to take me with him.

Bobby and I sat in the kitchen, chatting and catching up,

“What am I supposed to do? stay here for the rest of my life without doing anything? “I told bobby

“No, but at least wait till they figure out what to do with you “He said again, and I sighed, shaking my head.

“It’s almost time a week since I came here, there is no sign I’m leaving any sooner “I said, and he didn’t answer, feeling sorry for me.

Later we decided to take miles for a walk around the garden, bobby didn’t leave my side, again

(I wasn’t planning on running anyway)

Hours passed, it was about 7:00 afternoon, I went over to a library bobby told me about, they had it in the mansion, it was honestly beautiful and well decorated.

I walked around observing all kind of books they have, I wonder which one of them read, my bet is on the lady, Lillian, she seemed like the most cultured person among them.

I kept wandering until my eyes landed on specific book, (Romeo and Juliet), too classic and cliché, I know, I watched the movie, but I always wanted to read the book.

I tried reaching it but it was far from me, I really needed to get taller, I struggled with my feet trying to touch the book, until suddenly I sensed a figure behind me, and a hand reaching for the bookshelf.

I turned around to see it was chase. “You scared me “I gasped at the sight of him, “my apologies” he said handed me the book and I took it.

“Thank you “I murmured

“I see you have found the library “he said”

“I did, bobby told me about it, hope you don’t mind “I said trying not to meet his dark eyes.

“It’s okay, you can come here whenever you want, you don’t need permission for that, you don’t try to escape again, he stated.

I looked at him with a grin, “Don’t worry, I’m not thinking about it for the moment.

“For the moment?? “He wondered and came closer. I stepped back till my back hit the bookshelf, shiver run through my body, this is the second time we’ve ever been this close.

“I don’t give up easily “said, challenging him

He looked at me with amusement in his eyes and a smirk on his face. “Neither do I “he whispered before leaving.

I let out a relief sigh, like a weight has been removed from my chest, I got so stressed when he got closer to me, as if I stopped breathing
