LEEYAH No!!!!!!!! I don't want to believe it is true. My heart skipped a beat. What did I just hear? Could they be talking about my father? I pretended to be asleep after Sia did the magic with her healing hands. I felt whole all of a sudden, but I was too scared to stay conscious. I was in her quarters and I wasn't ready to entertain any more questions. The words of the other wolf reporting to her kept ringing in my head. I heard Sia whisper some words back to him and he left immediately. “I know you heard everything, Leeyah,” She suddenly said. Huh? “Is it really true? My father is dead?” I asked, not even paying attention to the weird fact that she was able to read my mind again. She sighed heavily. “You don't have to feel emotional about this, Leeyah. You brought this on him,” she lashed out at me. “You severed the alliance your father has been trying to hold but on the good side, you just created an open space for us to come in,” She revealed. I still don't understand Sia and what she wants. My wolf whispered. “We need to leave here. This people don't mean us any good.” “You don't know that. Didn't you hear what she said? Father is dead. He was killed!” I responded in a harsh tone. Sia walked up to me and said in a soft tone, “The only reason you are alive is because I found you. If not, you would have been killed if not by my wolves, it would be by your father's enemies,” She said and left the room. Tears dropped from my eyes once more. “I didn't think this would be the end result of my actions. First, I caused my mother a lot of pain till she died whilst giving birth to me and now I made my father lose his life over nothing,” “Wipe yourr tears, Leeyah. Now is not the time for that. Your sister and stepmother seem to be one sitting on that throne now,” she explained. Kelita?? My eyes widened in surprise. Kelita and Mally did this to Dad? “Now I know. They have always coveted the position. I wondered why they hated me so much. They wanted me out of the equation so they could carry out their wicked plots!” “But thank goddess you are alive to see them carry out those plans. Now rest. When you are awake, your body will have been restored to its full potential then we shall talk,” Sia said and walked out of the chambers. For a moment, my thought once again drifted to my father. I could imagine the pain and affliction he was feeling when everything shook. If only I knew how that picture came about or who the stranger in the picture was. I could have saved myself and saved him too through the marriage. ***** EDEN “Is she to be trusted?” Why do I even feel this way towards her? Because she is royalty? No, it was more than that. Something different. For some reason, I don't seem to believe all that was set against her. She wouldn't do that to her father if she knew the kingdom of her father depends on that marriage. I gave this smirk as I thought about the whole thing again. “She is mate,” my wolf whispered. Mate? Does she even regard me? I desired her. Her fair skin and smooth lips produced a lasting image in my head and I couldn't help but think about her as every single second counts. But I couldn't allow her see that. Not even Sia should know there is an iota of feeling in me towards Leeyah. She would kill me. To Sia, Leeyah was just an expensive weapon she planned to use to infiltrate Wolfendon. I needed to see her. I made my way to Sia's quarters knowing fully well she had gone for a run in the woods; a routine of hers that had never been disturbed. Sometimes I wondered why she did it. Her wolf was the strongest of us all, and the most feared. “Are you in there?” I whispered through the window, hoping to get a response. “Alpha Sia is not in,” Leeyah's sweet and weak voice spread through the air. “I came to see you,” I replied. I walked in and found her sitting on the couch just by the side of the bed. Her eyes burrowed into mine like we were soul staring at each other. My mate whispered again, “Mate.” This time, I didn't plan on shunning the voice in my head. “Wow… the Alpha did a really great job on you,” I uttered as I stared her spotless body. It was gone, her wounds and bruises. I was overwhelmed with the urge to hold her hands, and in that moment, I felt like I could lean in and give her a kiss. “What are you trying to do?” She pushed me back. “I want you.” “Leeyah, be mine, and I promise to help you take back the kingdom,” I uttered without thinking twice. I had to just shoot my shot before I lost the chance to do so. “I don't want anyone. I just want to be reunited with my people.” She replied, rolling her eyes. “And you think they would accept you back without a mate? Don't you know your respect and honor will only be valid if you present a mate to them?” “For them to accept me back?” She interrupted. “Hmmm.. I will train you. Give you every single thing you need to bring them all to their knees,” I promised. She scoffed and looked away. She was there for more than five minutes and then I called out her name, “Leeyah…what do you plan on doing, now that everything is no longer as it ought to be?” “Are you aware you are even wanted?” I asked. “Will she help me? Alpha Sia?” “Oh yes, she will. But it comes with a price…”
