Alpha Matthias’ POV:
“Alpha, her trail went cold in the Forbidden Forest,” my Beta reported. “Going in without a guide is a suicide mission. You know the rebels are rumored to have their base there.”
I exhaled slowly, weighing the situation.
“So she hasn’t been confirmed dead,” I mused. “Which means she’s probably alive and helping the raiders cripple the pack.”
I turned to my Beta. “What do you suggest we do? Those raiders are bound to return for the rest of the loot, and we can’t move the treasury…we have no place as secure as that.”
The treasury was one of the Hallmarks that drew me in to accept the proposal of Kelita. I couldn’t watch it in good conscience go to waste.
