Lori's POV:
The second the explosion went off, we all hit the ground except Alpha Sia.
“Someone’s trying to break in,” she said. Then she turned to Leeyah. “Tell Eden and Sheryl to meet me at the veil.”
Leeyah didn’t waste a second. She gave a quick bow and ran off
She turned to me. “Follow that pathway…it leads to the kitchen. The cook will give you something to eat while I handle this.”
Then she was gone.
I stood there for a second, debating.
I really wanted to know who was breaking in. But on the other hand, I was very aware that this was my first full day here, and getting into trouble was probably not the best way to make a good impression.
After a solid thirty seconds of internal arguing, I huffed and turned toward the kitchen. I’d do as I was told.
