Chapter 19 He Was Worried For Her

It's been two days since Sophia and Nathan visit her grandfather in the hospital. She plans to call her grandpa when her phone suddenly rang. She answered the call. 

Sophia: Hello! Grandpa, Sophia greeted. 

Grandpa Hankey: "I'm fine and don't bother to come to the hospital. I'll be home later when your dad finished the discharge procedure."

Sophia: "Okay, grandpa. I'll go home to see you in two days."

She heard a light cough. For quite a while, the deep voice of her grandpa enters her ears. 

Grandpa Hankey: "Don't worry about me. Just visit me sometime, like on weekends as you were busy in the company." 

Sophia: "Okay, grandpa, take your medicine on time."

Sophia" "I will; I have a private nurse that your dad hires for me."

It was four pm when Sophia finish reading the documents that Eve give her earlier. She looked for pain killer medicine in her drawer and found none. Her abdomen was aching due to her period. 

She stood up and drank warm water. She stretches her hand and massages her neck. Eve knock and enter. 

"Director, you look pale." Are you sick? 

"No, it's just my period cramps. I want to go home early, Eve. I'm not feeling well. I want to lie down and rest."

Sophia picks up her jacket at the back of her chair. Her period came last night; it was so painful. 

"I'll help you get to your car director."

Sophia looks at the documents and the laptop bag. 

'Okay, thank you, Eve."

The sun was setting as the cold wind breeze was a little chilly. Sophia walked forward and took the car keys in her bag. Sophia unlocked the car and opened the passenger seat. Eve put the things in the car. 

Eve's eyes went wide when he sees the things of Nathan was inside the car.

"Director, isn't this Pres. Dyson car? 

"Oh,... that, Eve, can you keep a secret? 

"As for the answer for all the questions you ask of me the last time is all "yes." 

Then Sophia showed her ring finger to Eve. Eve covered her mouth and looked shocked. Eve understood, and Sophia smiled at her. 

"Director, actually, you look great together." You're really the Pres. wife? 

"Shh, quiet, keep this secret, for now,  Eve."

"Okay. Director, I won't tell anyone." When did you both get married, Director? 

"A month ago."

Eve, eyes lit up. 

"I'm leaving now. You can go back to the office."

"Ok, director, please be careful on the road."

Sophia gave Nathan a call while she was on the road, but it was busy. She stopped the car on the side and texted Nathan that she was not feeling well and her abdomen was painful due to her period; she wants to go home and rest. 

It was still early, so the road was not congested, and there was no traffic. Sophia arrives at home and lies down on the sofa. She felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. She looked at the time; it was fifteen minutes before five pm. 

She tried to call Nathan, but the line was busy. She fell asleep on the sofa, curling holding her abdomen. Nathan was having a business call when Sophia called him. As soon as Nathan saw the two missed calls from his wife and a text, he quickly drops his work and speedily went home. 

He was scared that something was wrong with her. When he opened the door, he saw Sophia on the sofa curling up, holding her abdomen. He walks quickly to her, seeing her pale face and looked very sick. He took her in his arms and brought her to their bedroom.

He places Sophia on the bed and covers her with the thick comforter. Nathan calls the doctor and told him the address. After fifteen minutes, the doorbell rang, and the doctor arrived. 

"What happened to her? the doctor asked. 

"She texted me that she was not feeling well and her abdomen cramps, and her period was painful."

The doctor didn't say anything; he tested her blood pressure and her heartbeat; he turned to Nathan and said after fifteen minutes.

"It appears she's on her monthly cycle. Her hormonal level was low. A woman was in pain on her monthly cycle. It was painful, so I suggest for her to be comfortable she can. She should eat foods that may help with the pain."

"She should eat bananas, dark chocolate, oranges, broccoli, lemon, watermelon, and eggs. You should also give her a pain killer, which will help relieve the pain, and put the heating pad on her lower abdomen to help ease the pain," the doctor explained. 

Nathan takes note of all of it and asks.

Any other thing should I do, doctor? 

"No, that's all, don't worry, your wife will be okay. She needs some rest and eats the foods that I told you," the doctor said. 

"Thank you, doctor," Nathan said. 

The doctor left, and Nathan turns to Sophia. He quickly took his car keys and wallet and left the bedroom, and went to the pharmacy to buy the doctor's prescription prescribe for Sophia. When he returns, Sophia was still sleeping. 

Nathan left the bedroom and went to the kitchen, and boiled water in a kettle. He pours some hot water into the heating pack and makes a hot chocolate drink. He also brings a glass of warm water for the pain killer he bought in the pharmacy. 

Nathan put the heating pack on her lower abdomen. He left the bedroom and went back to the kitchen to take out the ingredients in the fridge. He went back to the bedroom after five minutes to wake up Sophia.

Sophia felt a pat on her shoulder and awaken; she open her eyes and look up; he saw Nathan's handsome face.

"Drink this hot chocolate while it's still warm."

After drinking the hot chocolate, he passed a glass of warm water and a pain killer medicine. He gently took the glass and put it on the bedside table. 

"Do you feel better now? While he rubs his palm on her abdomen.

"It hurts a little, but I can manage now."

"I bring a doctor earlier while you were asleep. I bought all the foods he advises me to feed you."

"Thank you, hubby."

"Okay," Nathan lifts Sophia in his arms, brings her into the living room, and puts her down on the sofa. 

"Watch television while I cook our dinner."

After Nathan finished cooking, they immediately ate their dinner. 

"You should get some rest, the doctor said."

Sighing, Sophia went to their bedroom and went inside the bathroom to wash and change her clothes and pads. Nathan follows and passes her a heating pad. 

"Thank you, hubby." 

"It's my duty to take care of you, wifey."

He sits down on the bed while doing his work on the laptop beside her on the bed. His right hand was tapping on the laptop while his left hand was rubbing Sophia's abdomen. 

When will your period last? I received an invitation to our high school reunion on Sunday."

"Jack and Bryan will also attend," Nathan said.

"It will last on Friday," Sophia answered.

"Okay, accompany me to the reunion; if you are not well, I will not attend then. It's my first time attending the reunion, so I will not come to it if you are unavailable."

Nathan put down the laptop and lie die down beside Sophia. She pulled her in his chest, and Sophia rubs her face on his chest, inhaling his scent. He pulled the big comforter over them while rubbing her abdomen. 

Sophia cuddles like a cat and slips into sleep. Nathan got up and put on a pillow not to wake her up. He went into their home office and continue his work till ten pm. He went back to bed and sniff Sophia's neck and kiss her forehead and close his eyes to sleep.
