Bilal had been connected to the ship for nearly forty hours. For most of that time his mother was right alongside him trying to help solve the problem of the cells that progressed too rapidly. The ship would be instructed to accomplish some task but in doing so would affect some other problem. He could stop the aging progression within his son but in doing so he would stop growing and be forever stuck in the form of a one year old. He could have the longevity of a Centaurian but would then lose his human appearance. To Bilal this would be a fate worse than death. At least with his current appearance, Raj could blend in with the humans. He could never blend in if he had human features on a Centaurian form. Even to him that was a horrifying prospect.
