CHAPTER FIFTY ONE Emory's pov I must confess that I was startled by the way things were playing out. I didn't trust Gilbert and neither did I know what he was planning. That man was unpredictable and I would be damned if I played fairly and cheaply while dealing with him. And that was why I decided to have the opening ceremony of my pack before he does anything. Taking him unaware like that would scatter his plans especially if he had the intention of using my past against me. The planning period for the opening ceremony of my pack was relatively short and most things were rushed. I was grateful for my teammates who made sure to work their bones and ensure that everything played out well. Three days later, the party was finally over and it was a success, and I was glad about that. The guests all loved my speech very much and they really applauded me at the end, pride and adoration on display on their faces… probably moved by my story of how I started and all I went through before getting to where I am now. I went over to the entrance when people began to leave and began to thank everyone as they departed. I sent air kisses to some women and hugged some people too when they get to the door and they complimented the party; how much they loved how I set the whole thing up, my speech and story and I was feeling satisfied and proud of myself deep inside me as I smiled back at them and took their praises with glee. I was still at the door when I noticed a shadow at the far off opposite corner of the hall behind a wall and I stared for quite a while, it looked like it was a man but the person didn't stir or move; it seemed like the person was waiting for me to come over from how he stood and faced my direction and a thought occurred to me that maybe it could be Gilbert. His exterior looked like that of Gilbert and a part of me told me he could be the one. Maybe he wanted to speak to me but away from the eyes of people. It felt quite dangerous to meet someone I couldn't see in such a dark place and I knew it could threaten my safety but my curiosity got the best of me as I wanted to know who it was that had been staring at me and giving off the vibe of a stalker. I wanted to be sure if it was Gilbert or not that was giving me this kind of pull to come towards him even though he didn't actually say it to me to come to him, I couldn't help the way my want to know how was lurking in the dark heightened in me and so I finally made a resolve to see who this person is. I said a quick thank you and goodbye to the guests at the door at the moment. Immediately after my guest left, I went put in a dash to meet the shadow that had now retreated behind the wall once he saw me coming towards him in long strides. I also knew that the person, whoever it was, knew I was coming towards him not only because I was facing his direction and I was looking straight at him before he went behind the wall to hide from people's stares in case they looked in the direction I was going towards. I walked into the shadows but I didn't see anyone again and I wondered where the man I just saw went in quite a short time. I craned my neck while trying to use my sight or I could say my night vision as best as I could in the dark to see where he went to but the place was all pitch black and I didn't catch a glimpse of this person again. I stared for a while around me, my hands on my waist as I wondered where he went just shortly after I saw him. I shrugged and made a move to leave after I realized I wouldn't see the person again but suddenly, strong big hands suddenly clasped tight over my mouth to prevent me from making any sound and I was pushed backward until my back was planted against the wall with my assaulter in front of me, using his body to press me hard again, against the walk so that there was no need for me to escape. I struggled hard with all my might but he didn't budge. He was too powerful for me and I couldn't fight him when my hands and body were pressed beneath him with a hard wall behind me. I couldn't see his face, catch his smell, or seem to have an idea of where he was from, or even recognize him because he was dressed in all black from head to toe and his face was covered with a mask… I couldn't even see his eyes. I assessed his appearance and my heart began to beat faster with fear of the inevitable… fear of things he could do to me. What if he kidnapped me? Or stab me? And I can't call anyone for help immediately? I thought and I started to struggle again, with more power and wit than the last time but it was like I was struggling against a wall. He chuckled and hissed when he saw how my struggle to get him off me is futile. I tried to scream but my voice came out as a muffle "You think he's going to let you go? He killed your parents so you won't be an exception" the man pinning me against the wall sneered. My heart dropped once I heard his statement and I got more scared of his presence. My eyes grew wide and I resumed my struggle to escape out of his grasp while I produced muffled sounds. The man pinning me down chuckled again and squeezed my neck hard making it hard for me to breathe. Tears sting my eyes and make my sight blurry, I was struggling to catch my breath but it was all futile. I felt like he was choking the air out of my lungs and truly, I felt my life puffing out of my windpipe and nostrils. Was this the end?
