Chapter twenty five Gilbert pov I was in the armory loading weapons when Sebastian entered. “There you are; I have been looking all over for you.” “You should know that this place is my favorite place here, so why are you looking for me? It better be important.” “No, not really. The cartel has left, they wanted to thank you for your nice hospitality and for clearing their debt.” “I see,” I replied, corking an AK-47. “Are we going to a war that I don’t know about? You have been buying an awful lot of machines. Anything special I should know? Lucas asked while cleaning a grenade. “Just like being prepared. What is the border check?” “Nobody has been able to come here, so stop worrying that it will fall any moment from now,” Sebastian replied rolling his eyes. “I don’t recall asking for your opinion,” I said with amusement, rolling my eyes at my best friend who was also my beta. “Well I gave it anyway, what are you going to do?” he retorted. I know the prick would make an attempt to a comeback. “How many s*x slaves do we have now in total?” I asked. “About 25. We still need more now though. We have 50 horny bastards unless they have to share them.” Lucas said and Sebastian scoffed. “What’s with Emory though? You seemed pretty close with the enemy’s sister. What’s up with her?” “ I think it's pretty obvious what she is ” I replied defiantly. “What’s the deal with that woman? She doesn’t fall under anything you would call helpless or ignorant. She looks too decent and knowledgeable. I think you should let her go” he continued while Sebastian silently watched the two of us. “Nothing. She made me a proposal and I accepted. I just did what I usually do. Why is everyone making such a big deal over it? I'm literally living with an enemy, I know that and I also know I'm doing” I flared, dropping the AK-47 to inspect an RPG that was hung not too far from me. “Because it is a big deal to allow the enemy to stay in your den. I am beginning to fear that you are suddenly developing a soft spot for her.” Lucas added, gauging my expression. “Now you are just pissing me off. Get out Lucas” **************************************** Sebastian's pov My train of thought was solely focused on the fact that Gilbert was harboring an enemy at the same time he is restocking the Pack's weapons and armory. I also couldn't shake off the visitor's face from my mind. She unbelievably looked familiar, no doubt I'd met her before but I didn't remember where. I was still walking down the hall when I saw Ruby coming out from one of the rooms carrying cleaning supplies. Immediately my eyes landed on her, and I halted. Ruby looked at me and bowed her head then bowed a little. “Good day, Beta.” She acknowledged me and continued to walk but I held her by the hand and stopped her from going any farther. “What did I say about calling me that? I told you that it is Sebastian right?” “It’s wrong for a maid to call their masters by their name. It is a sign of arrogance and disrespect. And the offender would be killed. I'm sorry but I still value my life.” She replied. “I thought I told you that you were my own, my very own mate and that I love. I do hope no one harassing you or making your life any miserable.” I tried to make her see the reasons with me. “I can’t complain; it is my life.” the pain in her eyes and voice made me want to hug her tightly and assure her that everything would be fine but I didn't. How could I make another promise to her when I didn't keep the first and only promise I made to her in the past? “Is someone harassing you? Tell me who it is and I will end it.” I was already burning with anger. “I am sorry, but I can’t. I am not complaining. I'm happy you got me this job, instead of working in the drug room like the rest of Omega. It is more than enough. And yes, nobody is harassing me. I’m just fine” “And you know it isn't supposed to be like that. You rejected our mate bond for crimes I didn't commit and forced me into rejecting it after spending such beautiful moments with you. I still love you, Ruby. The least I can do is to ensure you are fine. Is the work too much for you? I'll have it sorted out” “I am perfectly fine doing the job, you don’t need to go the extra mile for me. The others will notice. Lucas, Jenny, Elijah, and Hunter will notice. I don't want to suffer more than I already have and have them kill me as they did my friend.” Her eyes clouded over with sorrow and I watched as she blink her tears that were trying to fall off her face. I wanted to hug her and kiss away her tears but I know she wouldn’t let me. Her talking to me for such a long duration was close to being a miracle. “Screw the others. I'm the Beta. I'm higher in rank than them. You know that I care for you and I always want you to be happy so please stop rejecting my help.” I said frustratingly, hands trailing his hand down her hair. “I am sorry, Beta but….” “Don’t call me that. Say my name.” “But….” I cut her off from saying any more filthy excuses. “I am commanding you as the Beta to say my name,” I said in a hard tone this time... "Sebastian.” She called out softly. I felt the softness of her voice caress my resolve. I wanted her so badly but there was nothing I could do about it for the time being. I messed things up with her big time. I should have been there for her and her friend when they needed me. I still couldn’t believe that Rayne died because of my friend’s wickedness. I couldn’t blame Ruby for being careful with me when the people that killed her friend were still lurking around me. Which in my opinion was all Gilbert’s fault. That best friend of man has got to be the… I stopped to look down at Ruby when I heard her draw in a sniff. Was she crying? She wasn’t…. “Good, it sounds like heaven coming from your mouth, when we are in public, you may call me master or Beta. But when we are alone, call me by my name, okay?” “Yes, Sebastian. I will.” Ruby said it like it is the most uninteresting thing she has ever been asked to do. “Okay, you may go, before the head will start looking for you. If you are free tonight, swing by my room okay? I have some personal work I want you to help me with, okay?” “I would only come if you ordered for it. Miss Susanne, our supreme head won’t let me go.” “Okay, then. I am on my way to meet her anyways. I will tell her to permit you to come.” “Okay, Sebastian. I have to go now, someone is coming.” Ruby blurted as she scurried down the hall leaving me smiling as I watched her leave. I cleared my throat when someone approached me. Actually, the person was Lucas, the gamma. "Beta". Lucas greeted, bowing his head slightly. “Gamma". I replied, acknowledging his greeting with a little bow of my own then walk away to go see Susanne. I see Susanne and Grace carrying a basket, and an unknown girl trudging behind her. That must be the new girl from last night. "Susanne?" I called out to Susanne and fortunately, she heard me. Susanne turned and bowed her head in greeting. Grace did the same thing too, looking away, not to catch my gaze. “Omega,” Susanne greeted. “Susanne, who is she?” I asked, pointing at the girl behind Grace. “Oh, she is the slave that poured Masters Product yesterday. Her name is Alex.” “Oh, the one Alpha's visitor stepped in for. This is her, I see.” I nodded my head regarding her look. She looked more alive now than she did last night. “Look at me,” I demanded. Bella slowly raised her head up and looked at him. “So Alpha still doesn’t want her dead?” Susanne asked, surprised. “No, not anymore,” I replied, shrugging. “I see,” Susanne stated, nodding her head softly. “Well, today is your lucky day Alex, you are not dying today. Ma'am Emory did you such a very great favour. You don't know how lucky you are” Grace interjected. “Also, one more thing, I wanted Ruby to stop by later. Do remember to send her in.” I declared. “Sure thing, Sebastian.” Susanne answered with a curt now of her head.
