CHAPTER FIVE
Rayne’s pov
The place was silent, my mouth was dry and my lips chapped. My head also hurt and it felt heavy too. The place seemed creepy as I struggled to open my eyes. I sat up once I was wide awake and conscious and looked around the darkroom, trying to get accustomed to the darkness. When I tried to move, a sharp pain shot through my wrist. I winced and felt the rope that was used to tie my hands. It burnt my palms and I pulled back immediately after realizing the rope had silver in it.
“Darn you, jenny”. I scoffed and winced in pain when the rope pricked my skin. Suddenly, the door of the room I was flung open, and a guard trotted towards me. I tried scampering backward to get away from his reach but it was futile as he picked me by the neck and pulled me to a stand.
I grunted but began to smile when he undid the silver cuff on my wrist. “Jenny wants you in her chambers” he spat, holding me by the collars of my khaki shirt. He walked in front of me until we arrived at Jenny’s door. I knocked twice before I pushed the door open at her command. Jenny sat on the chair, and the wall was stained with alcohol, and the floor had particles of broken glass. No doubt she flung her bottle of alcohol at the wall; oh s**t. I’m done for tonight. I might die, and I might not; either way, the night was already bloody and it hadn’t even begun.
At the first glance, Lucas walked over to me and sent me sauntering and clutching tightly on my stomach from two kicks to my side and a punch to my stomach.
“Crawl on those shards of glasses now,” Jenny ordered with a smudge, and my heart dropped. I stared at those broken glasses in disbelief. Just what did I do for this round of inhuman cruelty? I looked back at her to see if she was joking or not, but the smudge on his face told me she was not. The bastard really meant every word. I took a deep breath and tried to come up with something. I saw her stand up from where she was sitting, and I knew she was coming to hit me maybe or drag me over the shards herself.
She stopped in her tracks when her door flew open and Jenny’s sister came in, between Janet and Jenny I don’t know who is worse. Janet was more brutal when it came to making omegas suffer and she was the one always coming up with ideas for the omega’s punishment scheme. I wonder how a sociopath like her would get mated to someone because she never runs out of ideas on how to make people suffer to death. I’m not the only one that hated her though, Ruby hated her too. Heck, the rest of the slaves hated the devilish proud twins. Ruby and I hated her especially, though and I’m guessing you would too if your and your best friend’s life was painted black because of someone, especially if this person made your mate hate and rejected you.
“If this isn’t our sweetest little refugee omega who thinks she can talk back at the elites” She snickered. Waling closer, she grabbed a fistful of my hair and dragged it backward, eliciting a guttural painful moan from the back of my throat.
“How did the meeting go,” jenny asked her twin sister.
“Although I’m in glee to break the news to you, I think this isn’t the resting place. Remember even the walls have ears “
“Not when we can make the wall go deaf” I heard Lucas say before a heavy blow smashed at my spine bridge and I collapsed to the ground. Although I laid lifeless on the ground, I could still hear a muffled sound of what they were saying and with my wolf abilities which they knew not about, I read their thoughts and words even before they aired them.
Until now, no one of them knew the trueness of my wolf. None of them had seen me shift and none of them knew what my original pack was or who my parents were and I intended to keep it so until right this minute. I fought internally with my wolf as she tried to break free but I willed her down as I needed to hear more of their secrets.
A gasp escaped my lips when they finally concluded their meeting and that was the second greatest mistake of my life. My first great mistake was to believe alpha Gilbert when he said he loved me.
“f**k!” they all exclaimed at once and I knew at that moment what was to come but unlike every other time, I was willing to fight, however, just like before, my mother’s last words resounded in my head and I humbled myself to take all of the hit they sent my way.
Obedience was going to bring the end of me!
“enough!’ alpha gilbert’s voice thundered from the threshold of Jenny’s room.
Raw fear glistened in the eyes of the trio as they wondered if the alpha had heard them. Not me though, my only fear was what would become of me if he hadn’t.
“To my chambers, now!” he ordered and they all scampered away except for jenny who lingered behind, her glare boring holes into the back of my skull. She muttered some things under her breath before her eyes landed on me and she stared at me with fury.
“You are dead” she mouthed to me and used thump to gesture the words to adequate measures I supposed before turning on her heels swiftly and she made sure to bang the door extra hard. I flinched where I laid, sprawled on the ground.
Sometimes I looked at the twins and wonder about the level of their stupidity. Their father, Fergus Sebastian was the second richest CEO and billionaire after alpha Gilbert and these twin sisters separately have condos of their own but most often than not, they are always in the packhouse. What I meant to say is, even though they don’t have anything to do, can’t they nap in their very big and comfortable condos?
The realization came to me with as much glee as the news of a newborn baby to a man whose wife was initially pronounced barren. All four of them had left me without binds or restraints. I made my decision on that spot and wasted no time summoning my wolf. Bones snapped and I felt my canines purge out as I transformed into the brightest, furriest, and most colorful wolf you’d ever see before dashing speedily towards the borders. No one knew what my wolf looked like so they all stared in awe as I ran towards the borders, and in one swift move, I jumped and landed on the next territory, tearing through the wind like an Australian royal stallion and I felt it, freedom for the first time in the year.
