Chapter six

CHAPTER SIX Alessandro's pov I had only changed the patrol team for a week, and they were slacking already, and that too at a very wrong time. I was desperately trying to assure my mother I was doing a good job as the Alpha of the pack he passed on to me when a pack member mind linked me. “The girl who had managed to get into our borders last night is waking up.” Simon’s voice resounded in my head. "We're adjourning this meeting. I have something to attend to quickly." I told my mother and wheezed out of her presence before she or any of the board members would object. The news was floating around that the girl was a rogue, but I was yet to confirm the allegation. I’d been so busy with my mother and board of directors. The pack's clinic was far from the company building, but it was a distance I could cover up in a few minutes. My driving style was something out of the fast and furious movie. I probably should have been featured in that movie. The second I stepped out of my car, a strong unfamiliar smell covered my nostrils. "Where is the rogue?" I asked, looking around the pack's clinic that was also housing a few other sick pack members. "Over there. She is still half asleep, though...” Simone replied, pointing to the pale-looking girl on the bed. I walked towards her for inspection, and damn was she pretty. The bruises and paleness of her skin did nothing to hide her beauty. Her lips were pouty, full, pink, and soft and inviting, I wouldn’t mind…. Fuck! Get a grip! I mentally scolded myself before walking to the bed, trying to hide the excitement in my c**k. I was turned on from staring at the face of a stranger. Way to go, king! I got close to her and noticed she wasn't unconscious. Her heartbeat fluctuated, her closed lashes danced and a noticeable surge of blood flow went through her body. I didn’t need to read her pulse to know she was faking her sleep. I looked at Simone and shook my head. “What?” he mouthed. I ignored his question and I reached out to the girl’s face and brushed the strand of hair that was sprawled all over away slightly, and she stirred. I knew she would. However, what I didn’t know was that I was going to feel burnt from our contact. What the actual f**k? Ripples of foreign emotion burst through my being and I looked at her surprised. Who are you?” I questioned my consciousness. Her eyes fluttered open to reveal a pair of contrasting eye colors; brown and blue and crescent-shaped pupils. I knew instantly that she was special. I was well educated and knowledgeable to know that least. She was an extraordinary wolf and most definitely wasn't a rogue yet. "What pack are you from?" I asked her. "The blood...” She stuttered. Her voice was hoarse, and she was coughing and wheezing simultaneously. I picked a water bottle from the cabinet near her head and uncorked its cap before handing it to her. In seconds she’d gulped down the bottle's content which didn't surprise me. She looked fragile and dehydrated "I’m from the Crescent moon pack." She coughed out. Her throat was obviously still dry. Her voice was barely above a whisper, and to add to it, she was lying. "Go get her another bottle of water," I said to Phillips. Not because I needed water but because I wanted to talk to her in private. Something told me she wasn’t comfortable with him around. "That pack was wiped out months ago by a villain pack. How are you not dead?" Her eyes flickered and morphed into an apologetic but sad stare. "I'm originally from the Crescent moon pack, but after the raid in my pack, the Alpha of the blood moon pack took the remnant of us as refugees in his pack.” Why was I not told of that? “Please don't let Alpha Gilbert know I'm here." she sat upright and began to rub her palms against each other, begging me at the verge of tears. Something terrible must have happened to her. What the hell did Gilbert do this time? Gilbert was a renowned douche, I knew him like the back of my palm. First, we were childhood and high school best friends and then enemies at college. The enmity between us got so bad that it affected the other members of our family. My parents severed ties with him and our businesses became great competitors. Gilbert had always topped the radar though and it irked me to always come second to him or compared to him. But for the first time in a long while, I felt like I was finally going to have an edge over him. Merely looking at the girl on the bed told me so. "I'd give your body some more time to recuperate. You’d be interrogated later." She looked somewhat relieved and happy. "Thank you." She bowed her head humbly. Her reply was short, and her gesture seemed very honest. Not the fake epistle and show-offs I received from females other times. I glanced at the wall clock and bit my lower lip when I realized I was running late for a meeting with the pack guards. As much as I really wanted to spend more time with her, I had to go. "Very well," I said, barely above a whisper, nodding and backing off from her bed. I left the clinic shortly after advising Simone on what to do. Although she looked harmless, one had to do ten checks with issues that concerned Gilbert. That guy was one slimy prick. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was another of his schemes and it didn't help that she had all these strange features that I still couldn’t pinpoint, which was why I advised him to put her in chains while she was weak, just in case. I got into my car and drove off, mind-linking the head of guards to arrange for an impromptu meeting. I was getting riled up as conversations between my mother, the board members, and myself replayed in my head. Aside from my going to sort loopholes as to why someone entered my pack without them noticing firsthand, I was going to spit venom and maybe kill one or two of them. "How did you not notice when a stranger broke into my territory?" I questioned the entire guards present in the mini auditorium. "I'm sorry, your Majesty, it won't happen again," the head of security said on his knees. The rest of the group joined him on the ground. "I don't want your apologies. What I demand of you is an explanation. A reasonable and acceptable excuse or else, consider today your last day on earth" I growled. The head guard gave a detailed narration of how everything went, and I loosened up a bit, and sooner than later, the meeting came to an end. Overall the meeting was good in the sense that I did not kill anybody. I went back to my condo to make research my latest missy. I fished out an ancient Greek book on the types and kind of werewolves from the piles on my table. The book was as old as time itself. The first wolves wrote, used, and passed it down for posterity to run with it. Its leather-wooden back was slowly peeling off, revealing the plain dark brown back cover. I ran my hand over the back of the book, which had the title written in Greek and translated in German, French, and Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Hindu, English and a native of Africa. It read 'The offspring of blood and moon.'
