Chapter Eight

I sat by her a long while before we both fell asleep. When I woke, it was almost dawn. I didnt want to wake her, but I really had to go. "Miss? I'm sorry to wake you, but I must be on my way now." She woke softly. "Please stay a little longer. My house is just over the hill there." I couldn't refuse her after hearing of her loss. So we headed over the hill to her house. I was very intrigued by her. She was quite pretty and I found myself smitten with her. But if she knew what I truly was, she would certainly have rejected me. I stayed with her a good portion of the morning until I began to feel tired again. So she showed me to one of the rooms and let me sleep there. I woke up that night feeling terrible. I had not fed the night before and I was paying for it now. I got up and tried to walk to the door. I then became dizzy and disoriented. Then the pain began. I stood leaning against the wall clutching my chest. Grinting my teeth; so not to make any noise. Then a sharp pain shot through my chest that brought me to my knees. I fell to the floor in terrible pain and was embolised instantly. I tried crawling to the door but could barely move. I was in serious trouble and I wished, with all my heart, that Helios was there. I then thought I heard footsteps coming down the hall. Then the door swung open. "Erin! My God! I told you about this!" It was Helios. He knelt down at my side. "H... H..." I couldn't get out the words. The pain became unbearable. He picked me up. "Oh my! Is he alright?!" "He'll be fine and needs some TLC." He replied, walking to the door. "I... Im...,s... sorry H..." "Its alright Erin. We're going to get you home and feeling better. Much obliged miss. We'll be on our way now." When we made it home, he put me in my coffin, but did not leave the room. Biting his wrist, he put it to my lips and I began to drink. "Better?" He said with concern in his voice. "Yes. Thank you." "You rest a while and regain your strength. I shall come check on you later." He went to leave but I grabbed his hand. "I really am sorry," I said whole heartedly. "Its alright. We'll talk about this later when you're feeling better." He then left the room. I laid there a while thinking of the young woman. Then the thought occurred to me. What would Helios do to her if she found out our secret? I suttered to think about it. Then, after the thought had left me, I drifted off to sleep.
