Luna to tramp

I could not believe my eyes and ears. This was my mate. my husband. The one I had given up everything for proposing to me divorce without remorse in his eyes. like I meant nothing to him, more so insensitive to shout a thing like that from a two-story building for the whole pack to hear. I wouldn't lie. I felt the urge to say, ‘Please don't do this,’ but I could not. My pride won't let me. I just dragged the suitcases with me out of the house, with no destination in mind. The moment I stepped out, dark clouds loomed overhead like an omen. It was about to rain, and I had no place to go. All of a sudden, I heard someone call me, “My lady!” I turned around immediately to see Jane at the door. I started feeling some liquid drop on me, and within the twinkle of an eye, rain started pouring down quite heavily. Jane ran into the rain, and it was then I noticed the big bag she was carrying. “I packed the few things I could pack quickly. Milady. I'll come with you.” She said, and I frowned at her. It did not make sense. “What do you mean?” “My lady, I want to come with you. I don't think I would ever grow the heart to serve someone else beside you.” She replied, and I scoffed. Don't do this, Jane." My voice caught between gratitude and despair. "I have nowhere to go. Following me means following me to the streets." Not to say she was an older woman, and we were standing under the rain-drenched, and this could complicate her health. “Just stop with this nonsense already and leave the rain. Do you think I have a plan? If you follow me, we will suffer together. I have no place to go. I understand how you feel, and I'll miss you too. If the heavens will, we will meet again, but if not, then it is what it is.” I told her matter-of-factly, and even though the rain was falling heavily on us, I could see the tears from her eyes. My vision blurred as tears mixed with rain, each sob tearing through my chest like glass. Jane's kindness cut deeper than any of Orion's cruelty. She walked close to me and hugged me tightly again, and I released my white knuckle grip on the luggage and hugged her back. We released each other, and she pushed the bag in her hands into my arms. “I put in a flask of food I could pack, some snacks, cereals, and milk. I put in a flask of warm water and an umbrella for you also; I know very well the condition of your health. Please, take care of yourself and make sure you survive, my lady. Miss Ruby also sent her word. She can't come because of Madam Athena.” I swear, I was bawling. I was close to crying blood. How could a woman be so loving? When I thought all was against me, there were still people rooting for me after all. I turned around and dragged my suitcase with me towards the gate. I walked several meters to the gate with the rain not relenting even one minute. I had been here for over three years, and it seemed like my welcome was overstayed now. Finally, I got to the gate. The gate guards avoided my eyes as they let me pass - their last act of respect for their fallen Luna. The irony wasn't lost on me; years ago, I'd run away from my father's pack to be with Orion. Now here I was, cast out again, but this time with nowhere to run to. I couldn't return to my father's pack, not with what I had done. The world beyond the pack borders stretched out before me like an alien landscape. No sleek black SUVs, no formation of guards, no mate bond. Just me, my suitcases, and miles of unfamiliar road gleaming wet under streetlights that suddenly seemed too harsh, too human." And if I were asked, I did not remember the way to my father's pack. Werewolf packs were not shown on online maps either. I was doomed for sure. After walking endlessly out of the pack estate, I finally got to the main roads. The rain was gradually stopping, but I was all drenched, and it was only a matter of time before I caught a cold. My hair was wet and stuck to my body like glue. I felt so helpless and hopeless, watching numerous cars with most of their windows tinted, driving at unbelievable speeds. The traffic was just crazy, and I did not even think there would be anyone interested in offering a hopeless-looking person a ride. To where, even? The reality of my situation settled over me like the damp chill of my clothes. Streets I'd once driven past without a second glance now loomed as potential beds. How quickly a Luna could become a tramp. Night crept in like a tide, washing away the last traces of familiarity. Each step down the unknown street felt both like an escape and a surrender. My suitcase wheels caught on every c***k in the sidewalk, the bag of Jane's carefully packed snacks growing heavier with each block. Neon signs buzzed overhead - human establishments that I'd never needed to notice before. Now I searched them desperately for the word 'motel', for any promise of shelter in this strange new world I'd been cast into.
