Nicha snorted. “He didn’t count on us having Deyu.”
“She’s our secret weapon,” Thayu said.
Deyu’s cheeks turned red.
I continued. “I think we should try to get out of here as soon as possible, but we have a number of issues. We don’t know the way, we can’t contact Yana and Taleyu back in the shuttle, and we don’t know that Benton Leck will let us go.”
“He will,” Thayu said, with that typical finality that carried an implied threat. “I have a feeling that he has a lot more control over this army than he lets on. He’s a linguist, he studied their communication, he’s lived here with them for a while. When we first came in, he told them to get dinner. I think we may need to apply a bit of pressure to him and he will change his story. Something doesn’t add up. He seems too naive.”
