There was silence again for a few moments, and then Gwen’s voice came again. “I’m here, Aubrey.”
Jackson spoke hurriedly. “Don’t worry, honey. I’m sure he won’t harm you. Just tell him Mister Mayberry is not with me. He was completely exhausted after all his training, so I dropped him off at the hotel where we’re staying before coming here to see you.
