Chapter Twenty-Three - More Revelations
Aubrey recovered fast and spoke to the nurse before Horace had time, he hoped fervently, to recover and react. “Hello, nurse!” he exclaimed cheerfully. “It’s good to see you again. Isn’t that right, Horace?”
There was no reply from her confused ex-patient, just a nervous nod, so Aubrey continued talking to her. “I guess you are here to take us to the Professor? “That’s right,” she answered tersely, “and he is still waiting to see you in his office.”
The two agents followed her into the main section of the building, exchanging perplexed glances but saying nothing. She left them by the door of the Professor’s office, and then with what passed for a smile, she disappeared into another room. Aubrey gave the door a knock and pushed it open.
