As I wove through the various threads of this revelation—no matter how loosely based in fact they were—I was suddenly very, very worried. Martin suggested Clark and his father could have benefitted from the book. Whether he was mistaken or trying to convince me otherwise remained to be seen but it did raise several questions. Was Clark working with Mork? Had he orchestrated Clark’s escape? Was Mork a ruthless killer like Clark and his father or simply a pawn in their game—a minion convinced to aid in their cause? Or was he complicit in the murders of Erica and Mort—an equivocal deliverer of death?
