Isaac lifted his eyes and only then realized that from where Reina had been standing, everything he had just done with Nina was plainly visible.
"Since you saw it all, then let's talk."
It was late at night, and the wind outside was strong, making Isaac's shirt flap nonstop.
A cigarette was held between his fingers, and smoke drifted slowly from his lips. There was a trace of casual indifference in his expression.
Reina's voice was as cold as ice. "Talk about what? About how you pinned my secretary, who is still in her probation period, against the floor to ceiling window just now and slept with her several times?"
Isaac gave a helpless smile. "What, are you jealous? Reina, actually, I quite like the way you look when you're jealous. It's very cute."
Reina stared at him in disbelief. She could not understand how, after being caught cheating by her on the spot, he could still be so utterly unconcerned.
"Yes, I slept with Nina, but I'm just fooling around with her. She's interesting, young, and fresh. I only wanted a little fun. The person I love most is still you."
Isaac looked careless, yet utterly certain, as if he believed that even after saying all this, Reina still would not do anything to him.
Reina looked at him and only felt that the man before her had become frighteningly strange.
No wonder that on the day they got married, everyone around them had said that if she was going to marry into a wealthy family, then she had to be tolerant enough. A man like Isaac was bound to put on an act with other women from time to time.
Back then, Isaac had held her in his arms and sworn in a firm voice, "Absolutely not. In this life, I, Isaac, will only ever love you."
At the time, Reina had thought those words were just a joke. Only now did she understand that this was the unspoken rule in wealthy marriages, and also the warning others had tried to give her in advance.
Other people might be able to endure it, but Reina could not.
Reina took a deep breath and said, her voice already choked with tears, "Let's get divorced."
When Reina said that, there was already a sob in her voice. Isaac's tone softened slightly as well, carrying an air of soothing comfort.
"I actually wanted to talk to you about that too. She's throwing a tantrum and insisting that she's a mistress. Since that's the case, let's just go along with what she wants for now. We'll divorce first. After I'm done with her, we'll remarry. Reina, don't worry. In my heart, you will always be Mrs. Pinecroft. No one will ever shake your position."
Isaac moved closer and tried to kiss her, but Reina turned her head aside and avoided him.
The bright red marks on his neck stabbed at her eyes.
He had just slept with another woman, and now he was trying to touch her. All she felt was disgust.
Reina could not stop herself from retching. Isaac frowned. "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
"No. I'll do as you say. Tomorrow I'll have the lawyer draw up the divorce papers. Don't worry. I'll sign it obediently and give you time so you can properly enjoy your days with Nina."
"Good girl. I knew you were the best. Give me three months. Once I'm done with her, we'll remarry, all right?"
Reina said nothing more.
'Remarry? Isaac, there was only divorce for me, never remarriage! Since you like excitement and you like to play around, then I'll give you exactly what you want!'
Early the next morning, when Reina arrived at the office, the divorce papers was already lying quietly on her desk.
Her heart sank hard. She had not expected Isaac to move so quickly.
When she flipped to the last page, she found that Isaac had already signed it.
She took a pen from the drawer and signed her own name without the slightest hesitation.
After signing it, she also submitted her resignation letter.
Very soon, it was approved by the Human Resources Department. After that, it was also approved on Isaac's side.
In less than thirty minutes, the Human Resources Department called her.
