Reina had only told Isaac about this after they got married, which was why he had once ordered the storeroom at home to be torn down.
But this time, right in front of all the employees, he had actually locked her inside the storeroom.
"Open the door, Isaac..."
"Mr. Pinecroft, let Miss Morley out. If this goes on, something is really going to happen to her."
Someone spoke up to plead for her, but Isaac sat outside the door, listening expressionlessly to her muffled sobs from inside, and asked coldly, "Tell me, were you the one who forced Nina to resign? I can understand you being jealous, but treating a young girl like this is going too far, is it not?"
"Let me out... and I'll tell you!"
Only when her pounding on the door grew weaker and weaker did Isaac finally relent and tell someone to open it.
The moment the door opened, she began gasping for air.
Isaac watched her cowering in the corner, trembling, and asked calmly, "Can you talk now?"
Reina lifted her head weakly and, for the first time, said something against her heart.
"Yes. Yes, I was the one who made her resign. I promise you, I'll help you bring her back."
Isaac smiled in satisfaction. The smile at the corner of his lips was still as charming as ever, but the words he spoke were incredibly cruel.
"That's more like it, Reina. Do not touch her again next time. I told you before, Nina has a bad temper. When you coax her, be a little more patient too."
Reina could only nod. "I understand. I'll bring her back."
After leaving the company, Reina went to a law firm and handed the divorce papers in her hand to a lawyer.
"This agreement can take effect, Mrs. Pinecroft. If nothing unexpected happens, then in one month, you and Mr. Pinecroft can go get your divorce certificate."
Hearing that clear answer, Reina finally let out a sigh of relief.
"All right. Thank you."
Just a few steps after leaving the law firm, the person responsible for finding Nina called.
"Mrs. Pinecroft, Miss Irwin has been found. She is drinking at Shadow Club."
Reina steadied herself and drove to the bar.
Outside the private room, Reina had just finished calling Isaac and was about to push the door open when she happened to hear Nina talking to someone inside.
"I heard you really got Mr. Pinecroft. Is he not your father's friend? You are interested in a man like that too?"
Nina's tone was completely different from usual. "What uncle? Isaac is more than ten years younger than my dad. After my dad died, I needed money. Isaac was willing to give me a job, and he was willing to give me money, so of course I accepted."
"You even gave him your body. Do you not think you came out losing?"
"What did I lose? Isaac is way more handsome than any of my ex boyfriends. Let me tell you, he is amazing in bed too! He even praised me and said I was much better in bed than his wife. He said his wife was too uptight and boring."
Hearing that, Reina bit her lip hard, and her fingers dug deeply into her palm.
Too uptight? Boring?
The first time he slept with her, just one kiss from him had been enough to make her blush.
Back then, he had held her face as if he were holding something precious, and kissed her gently. "Reina, this is exactly what I like about you. You are clean, innocent, and beautiful."
Five years had passed, and he really had grown tired of her. He had even started to dislike her.
"If this woman is so good, why did you resign?"
Nina raised an eyebrow, her eyes full of ambition.
"What do you know? He has a wife. I do not want to be his mistress for the rest of my life. Of course I had to use a few tricks, play around with him a little, and, while I was at it, make Isaac hate that old woman even more. Is that not perfect?"
Reina could not take it anymore. She pushed the door open and walked straight in.
The moment Nina saw her, her face turned pale with fright.
"You... why are you here?"
"Things turned out exactly the way you wanted. After you resigned on purpose, Isaac panicked and told me to come find you. Now come with me."
Reina grabbed Nina by the arm and was about to take her to see Isaac.
