Chapter 2

Seeing that he had the cash in hand, he quickly put it back in his pocket and pushed the wheelbarrow out onto the road. He didn't want to be seen by anyone in this empty lot. For two reasons. One: he didn't want anyone to ask him what he was doing there and secondly, he saw how the system worked, and gave him an idea, and it was better that no one could associate him with what he is going to do. Reed pushed the wheelbarrow home and put it under the steps at the back of the house before entering the house through the kitchen. Looking at the bark tile on the floor which made the whole house dark and gloomy reminded him that he had a lot of work to do and it started tonight.

He walked to his bedroom, which was located at the right of the dining room, giving him a lot of distance from his mom's room. Stepping into the large room that he used to share with his cousins and brothers, knowing that soon everything would get better elevated his mood. Remembering the body-enhancing potion he got earlier, he grabbed some clothes and went into the bathroom. His mom shared a bathroom with his cousin Maddy, so, being the only male left in the house, he had his own bathroom. Sitting on the side of the shower in only his boxers, he drank the potion in one gulp, afraid that it would have a bad taste. To his surprise, it tasted like a fruit punch, Kool-aid.

After it entered his stomach, his whole body started to burn and black impurities started to rush out his pores smelling like fermented s**t. The pain was almost more than he could handle, it felt like his body was on fire. Using the last of his strength, he pulled himself into the shower, turning on the water, so the smell wouldn't spread to the rest of the house. His bathroom wasn't sealed, so any odors could be smelled in the dining room. Reed didn't want to explain what the smell was to his mother and cousin, so he needed to control the smell. Focusing on the smell dulled the pain and soon the pain disappeared.

His body felt full of energy, but he was still covered with a layer of black impurities, making it seem like he had been rolling in mud. Mud mixed with s**t if you include the smell. Grabbing his bathing rag, he washed his whole body, planning to discard the rag and boxers after this shower because he didn't think he could stomach using them again, knowing they once had such a smell. It took five showers and three rags before his skin was clean and the smell disappeared.

He wondered why his ability to purify didn't help him. He still didn't understand how it worked; he guessed that he needed to practice using it to become familiar with it. Looking at the wash rags that were now black and smelled horrible, he placed them in a garbage bag along with his boxers and tied them tight to block the smell, planning to get rid of them tomorrow. With his mind, he called up his status panel.

Seeing the changes made him smile, but seeing that Purify was only at level one, meaning it can be leveled up, made him feel excited but when he noted that it was not activated, he became annoyed with himself. He tapped on the panel and changed it to active and instantly the surrounding air started to be cleaned resulting in a refreshing smell like a spring breeze. His body also felt cleaner somehow. Considering how hard he scrubbed before, he didn't think he could feel cleaner, but now he did.

He then started to note the changes the potion had brought to his body. He could see that his skin was now flawless and better than any woman's. His hair felt softer, full of waves, and stronger. Looking down, his once barely there abs had become 8-pack abs, and he could see that he had the perfect mermaid line. His height had increased as well; he was 5 ft 11 inches before, and now he seemed to be 6 ft 1 inch, about 3 inches increase. And he seemed to be able to remember everything since he was a baby till now and all the school work that had baffled him before now seemed so easy. It made him excited about going to school in September.

Reed hoped that his mom wouldn't notice the changes. He could only blame it on a growth spurt. Seeing his face in the mirror, I had to do a double-take. All the teenage acne he had before was gone, and his complexion was even and a few shades lighter, while he had become much more handsome. While feeling that he would have no problem if he wanted to become an actor. His face alone would guarantee box office sales.

Now he was sure his mother and cousin would notice his face, but there was nothing he could do about that. He would just have to pretend that he didn't understand what they were talking about. The rest of his family hadn't seen him since his grandmother's funeral, so even if they saw him they wouldn't think the change was too drastic. They would only think that he was growing up and changing.

This was the longest shower Reed had ever taken, and the lucky thing was no one had noticed. The house was so big with his bedroom alone being 15 ft by 16 ft, you can imagine how big the rest of the house was. Only if someone was in the dining room or kitchen would they notice how long he was taking to shower. The sun had already set when he got out of the shower, his body was full of energy but still hungry. It had taken a lot of nutrients to complete his enhancement, so now he needed to eat and replenish those nutrients. After putting on the clothes he had taken into the bathroom with him, he noticed that the shorts were shorter than before and the shirt smaller. He needed to get some new clothes asap, otherwise, he would look like a fool when he went out, such a handsome face in clothes about two sizes too small.

Going into the kitchen, he saw the food his mom had left him in the pot. It was some steamed rice with corn beef. He liked corn beef and, due to its affordability, it was a regular on the dinner table. Seeing that he didn't have to prepare anything himself, he just took the food and sat down around the dining table, not noticing that his ability had already started to clean the surrounding area. All the dust in the corners that had been missed when cleaning was disappearing along with the cobwebs in the unsealed sealing, the longer he stayed in the dining room the cleaner it became. The food was good and filling, although he wasn't full, it was at about 85%, which is more than enough for the night. Bringing the plate into the kitchen and seeing the sink had a few dirty plates and pots gave him the idea of testing out his purifying ability.

Reed looked around to make sure no one was watching him, then stood in front of the sink, further blocking possible prying eyes, and focused on the dishes in the sink using his mind, he said purify. To his surprise, all the dishes, pots, utensils, and the sink became sparkling clean looking brand new, and he didn't even have to lift a finger. He loved this ability. He would never have to do dishes or clean ever again.

Looking around again and seeing that he was still alone, he hurriedly stacked the dishes into the dish drainer by the sink and went back to his room. He turned off the lights, laid down on his bed, and looked around at his room. It was dark in the room, but he could still see like it was still daytime. This seems to have been an enhancement brought on by the potion, and it was very useful, and it made the things he planned to do tonight easier. His room was not full, he had a double bed which was small now, and he definitely would need a new bed, a nightstand, an old desk and chair, plus a wardrobe and a standing fan. He wanted to change everything in the room, but he wasn't sure how he would explain to his mother where he got the money.
