I don’t want to hear that.

“Oh, Hunter.”  I felt my cheeks flush when I heard that little whisper. It was quickly replaced by another emotion though.  Jealousy.  You see.  My name is not Hunter.  My name is Lukas.  Hunter is my twin brother.  Who just so happens to get pretty much everything I have ever wanted out of life.  He’s great at just about everything he does.  Sports, school, video games, and most importantly at our age, girls.  I felt like putting a pillow over my head to try to keep the voices out of my ears. It was futile though.  I have pretty great hearing, it’s actually supernatural hearing.  Hunter and I come from a long long long line of wear wolves. Oh. You read that right.  Humans transforming into wolves might seem crazy to most humans but we’ve grown up with it all our lives.  “Turn around Luna.” Hunters deep voice told me that I definitely needed to get out of this house within the next few seconds or I was going to be hearing way more than I wanted to.  The wall separating our bedroom might as well have been paper thin.  We used to share a bedroom until two years ago when we turned thirteen and Hunter decided he needed his own space.  Something I am still offended by to this day actually.  Or at least I was until he started bringing girls home a year later.  Our mother and father didn’t ever tell him anything.  They’re actually in charge of our “pack.” Yes, I said pack.  My father’s name is Hunter and my brother is obviously his favorite child.  My mother is named Iris and she got to pick out my name and named me after her father who died way before we were born.  They are the Alpha and Luna of the Icy Wolf Pack.  There are actually quite a few packs nearby our territory but before I get into that let me get out of here.  I jump out of my bed and almost immediately trip over my sneakers.  This summer I shot up almost ten inches and I’m still not really used to it.  I slip on the sneakers and grab a beanie from the top of my computer chair.  A quick glance in the mirror hanging off the back of my door and I shiver.  Standing now at almost six feet tall at fifteen years old you would think I would be happy about it.  A few stray whiskers of facial hair escaped my razor this morning.  I definitely didn’t have this much facial hair last summer.  My eyes were different colors. I have a condition called heterochromia.  One eye icy blue and the other so brown that it almost looked black. Brown hair with blonde streaks touched my shoulders in waves.  I was the opposite of my brother who had a very buzzed black hair style going on right now and dark eyes to match.  Getting out of my window used to be easy for me.  Now it took a little more effort.  I made my way towards the sidewalk and started heading towards the park close to our house.  In a year our wolves would be making themselves known to us but we pretty much knew who was going to be the next alpha.  Hunter did not even consider me competition.  No hard feelings from me there.  I did not even want to be beta. I would hate to constantly have so many people looking up to me.  “Luke has changed so much this summer..”  A soft and sweet tone had me raising my head toward the three girls who were apparently taking about me.  Two of them blushed immediately but one just rose an eyebrow.  Willow was not one to be easily swayed. Everyone expected her to be our future Luna. She was almost as perfect as Hunter at everything she did.  Her auburn hair and bright green eyes made her look like a supermodel compared to the girls beside her giggling.  My super hearing was definitely on another level lately because I was at least fifteen feet away from them but they might as well had been right in front of me.  The girls besides Willow were Jade and Amber.  They were sisters and most likely going to be some of Hunters next victims.  That might have been kind of mean of me to say but he’s been going through girls lately faster than he changes his underpants.  “Do you think he heard us?” Amber whispered. Jade shook her head but lowered her voice as well, “There is no way. His wolf hasn’t appeared yet and even if he had he’s not going to be the alpha of our pack.”  I cringed a little bit at that.  Not that I wanted it but still.  Knowing other people realized Hunter was going to be the next alpha kind of offended me for some reason.  Stupid pride.  I dared to steal another glance at Willow and felt the blood drain from my face almost immediately when I realized she was staining straight at me.  “There is no way Lukas would ever become our Alpha.” Cold words came from her beautiful pink lips.  I mentally scolded myself and took off running towards the parks trails.  As beautiful as I thought Willow was she definitely could be a witch sometimes.  Little did we all know what surprises this school year would bring for all of us.  It was almost the end of summer and our sixteenth birthday would happen in December.  I was already dreading it.
