Episode 3

Tracy's POV I opened my eyes the moment I heard the door click shut, and I was alone. The tears I had been holding back flowed freely in hot streaks. “Uh-huh, Tracy,” I scolded myself and wiped the traitorous tears with the back of my hands. “There's no way you're shedding tears for yet another mate who didn't want you.” But I was only deceiving myself with words, my backstabbing heart felt heavy, and the tears flowed heavier than before, and I had to bite down hard on my lips to prevent a sob from breaking out, because it stung like hell. In the history of getting rejected by one's mate, I got rejected TWICE, in less than 24 hours. Well the first rejection was a bit different because I said the rejection words, but it was still a rejection nonetheless, because Maxwell rejected me by choosing to marry Princess Sierra, and now, some pompous, self-absorbed asshole who thinks he's goddesses gifts to the world simply because he's a Lycan doesn't want me too. Well, neither do I, not like there was anything fancy looking about him. Sure he was tall and muscular, with sharp jawline, and brown eyes that could suck out the soul from anyone with just a single look, but his self-righteous attitude overshadowed whatever looks he might have had, and the way he spoke about me simply because he had a girlfriend.. 'I love Sandra… I made a promise to make her Luna.’ his words echoed in my ears. Bullshit! I sat up on the bed, and pressed my palms to my temples, trying to ease off some mental stress. “Amaris?” I called out to my wolf, hoping for some comfort, but got no response. I knew she was there, because I could feel her stir in my mind. “Look, I know you're mad about me rejecting Maxwell,” I muttered, because I understand her well enough to know the genesis of her silent treatment. “But what did you expect me to do when he humiliated us that way and even tried to gaslight us?” Amaris didn't say anything which only infuriated me. “Fine. Be mad ,” I said harshly. “But I'm not about to stay here and beg another mate to accept me.” I glanced around the room, it was plain– a medium sized bed, a wardrobe, and a desk and chair in a corner. Nothing about it speaks of luxury or home, which suited me just fine. I wasn't planning on staying. Besides I was in Lycan's territory, which is literally the most dangerous for any werewolf to be in given their history, even without the added humiliation of not being wanted. I stood up from the bed and tiptoed to the door, which I opened slightly and took a peek. Luckily, the guy named Tim was watching a video on his phone with a headset, so he didn't hear a thing. Closing the door gently as I turned back to the room, the window caught my eye. It wasn't large, but it was big enough for me to squeeze through. I moved to the window, and took a peek cautiously. Luckily it wasn't too high off the ground, and I could also see the edge of the woods. Just a sprint and I'd be hidden in the trees, and be safe. Then all I'll have to do after that is just to keep running east until I am out of Lycan territory. “You’re not seriously thinking about running, are you?” Amaris finally decided to talk. “The goddess just gave us a second chance, and you know it's rare.” “Second Chance my foot,” I scoffed bitterly. “He doesn't want us, Amaris. You heard him, he has a girlfriend, and the last thing he wants is us messing up his perfect little life.” Amaris whimpered, but she knew I was right, even though accepting the truth hurts. Ignoring Amaris completely, I took a last peek at Tim, and his low chuckle tells me he's still engrossed in whatever video he's watching, which means I won't have a problem of him catching me when I finally escape. I went back to the window, swung one leg out the cool night breeze hitting me as I gripped the window frame tightly. I swung the other leg, and dropped down, my feet hitting the ground softly. I scanned the area for about a minute or two, before breaking off in a sprint, with only one thought in mind, ‘run East'. I barely made it five minutes into the woods, when I heard a low, commanding voice. “Hey, you! Stop there!” My heart nearly leapt out of my throat as I stopped dead in my tracks, a chill running down my spine because I knew I was dead meat at this point. It would be sheer stupidity if I even think of running. Even on their worst day, an ordinary Lycan could outrun a werewolf. Jeez! I'm such an i***t. What was I expecting before? This is Lycan's territory for goddesses sake! Of course they'll have border patrol or whatever it is they call it here. Taking in a deep long breath, I deep what any sane person in my shoes right now would do; I slowly turned around, with my hands spread out in the air. Two men emerged from the shadows, their sheer size made me shrink inwardly. They looked like warriors, but what do I know? They could be f*****g omegas and I still couldn't tell because Lycan's were naturally built like tanks. “I– I don't want any trouble,” I managed to say, swallowing the lump already formed in my throat. “I just– I just want to go home, please,” the last words came out choked, tears brimming in my eyes as my mind made up a million and one scenarios on how they'll torture me before giving me the mercy of death, simply because I trespassed. Not literally though, because I wouldn't just walk into Lycan's territory when all the screws in my brain weren't missing or something. But would they believe me if I told them I was brought in here by a Lycan who is supposedly my mate but doesn't want me? Fat chance at that, Tracy! “You just trespassed, little wolf,” one of them said, as they both made their way towards me, their gaze not leaving me for a second. “Please, I–”I stopped mid sentence as I noticed their eyes changed color, they were having a mindlink. You're dead, Tracy, Dead! “Please, I didn't mean to trespass,” I said hurriedly as I got down on my knees, tears streaming down my cheeks. “A Lycan brought me here and–” “You can go.” “What?” My mouth opened in disbelief, refusing to believe what I had just heard. I quickly wiped my tears with the back of my trembling hands, and stared at them with wide eyes. This has to be some kind of trick. There's no way they're just letting me off without at least a whip or something. “Do you want us to escort you to the border instead?” the one who told me to go said, pulling me out of my thoughts. I shook my head sharply, as I was too stunned to form words. “You heard him, little wolf,” the other added. “Run along. We didn't see you.”
