Sorrel patted the grass as he lay on the hill as he replayed the sight of the whale falling towards his head. He hadn’t been concerned about being crushed in a car accident or from a falling building because the size and integrity issues in those cases would have been insufficient to do damage.
In this case he was certain that the seer mass of the mammal would have been crushing perhaps even to the elder trees. Though as he continued to consider he felt that it would likely not have been too bad as they would have merely been pushed under the water.
The main issue would have been whether they could have swam far enough away to avoid being eaten. Sorrel was curious about the way animal digestion worked to a degree, but not curious enough he wanted firsthand experience as to how broccoli feels when someone eats it.
When the deep voice filtered into his mind several moments later though Sorrel abruptly jerked into a sitting position. He focused his attention on the entrance and the source of the voice since it sounded like Kayad.
The person at the entrance looked like Kayad, or more accurately Sorrel supposed Kayad resembled the person at the entrance since the man was older. Looking to be in his forties. So, could be anything past a hundred for a Beastskin. Though if he wasn’t related to Kayad then Sorrel demanded a better explanation of human appearance inheritance.
Uncle Christian clambered out of the pool to face the man and his two companions behind him. “Kadar, Demyan, Milena. I assume you’re the Sentinel’s sent for my call about the deliberate incitement of an initiation?” Uncle Christian asked as he walked over to shake the two men’s and one women’s hands.
“Correct. Your initial call suggested it wasn’t pressing and that you had protocol in place,” Kadar commented as he stepped into the pool and took in the sight of the two unconscious humans as well as the clusters of people before his sight paused briefly on Adie and then settled on Sorrel. “From the looks of things I presume that the situation changed.”
“you could say that. The boy that brought the humans, Benedict Cooper, supported the pair into a fight and in the process a stowaway piece of watergate weed was activated.” Uncle Christian summarised.
“Whose response for the gardens here?” Milena asked abruptly at the end of the explanation as he brows pulled together.
“Realmskin council is required to maintain the grounds as part of the deal for hosting the portal points here. they hired a company called ‘Weed Warriors’ I don’t know much else other than the fact that most of the workers have been Feyskin.” Uncle Christian shrugged as he explained. Milena nodded and turned away as she pulled out her phone.
Sorrel realised that she looked somewhat like Manuel, though he wasn’t certain since he hadn’t had much to do with the kobold who spent most of his time with Al. Especially since the pair were third years and tended to spend their time monitoring the general club members so far as Sorrel had noticed.
Sorrel turned his attention to the second man as Kadar started to talk specifics with Uncle Christian. Demyan was surveying the grounds and had moved over to study the area where the watergate weed had activated as well as the surrounding bricks and even the pool. He bent to look the humans over and pulled out one of Sorrel’s needles. As Demyan raised the needle to look at it against the light Sorrel blinked at the overlay of Dimitri when he inspected the parts for William’s bike.
“So, can you tell me your view of events.” Sorrel almost started out of his bark at Kadar’s sudden question from right beside him. Sorrel jerked his eyes back from their examination of Demyan to face the large Beastskin as he crouched beside him.
“Sure,” Sorrel replied instinctively and then reflexively reached out to touch Kadar’s hand as he rewound his memories to the moment the human’s had entered.
*the game had just resumed and Sorrel finally felt like he was making progress when eddy suddenly turned away from the game. At the entrance three men appeared. Sorrel shifted his sight and was surprised to realise that while the first was a large tentacled beast from the Aquarian Realm the other two were human. Not even magic users but just normal humans.*
*When the three started talking it was clear that Meg was uncomfortable and so Sorrel urged her out of the water. The three eventually taunted Eddy into agreeing to a match with dubious implied stakes. Adie and Chris followed along.*
*Adie proceeded to use the ball to attack the group with the ball with the excuse of the game style until the humans grew impatient and started a fight. Ned headed towards Meg and Sorrel and Eddy intercepted.*
*Sorrel contemplated just putting them all out. He had never seen a state of such boredom that it caused people to be assholes. He wondered if there was a way to enforce them to do something that would be productive and keep them occupied or if they were too much of a lost cause.*
*Ned and Eddy rolled towards them and Sorrel stepped back as he shifted Meg out of the way. A slimy sensation crawled up his leg. Watergate weed. Sorrel realised that he was dripping magic as the pool water oozed off the flowers in his hair. The weed began to glow.*
*Sorrel called for Sephy he needed to knock the humans out before the activation. It would be too difficult to alter the memory of a bright flash and the disappearance of people. Sorrel pulled out Aunt Yew’s specialised sleepy byes needles and tossed them. The humans were hit and passed out. The gate activated.*
“Thank you, that is sufficient for our needs. The method was unusual but very effective.” Kadar patted the top of Sorrel’s hand and Sorrel refocused on the present as he blinked his eyes. He then flinched back from Demyan’s face right next to his.
“Ah, can I help you?” Sorrel asked.
