“She must become a Palace minstrel girl,” said the Queen.

“She should all day sing to the Korain, and stand among the beautiful gilded carved ancestors who she will be like!”

"Woman! Don't say that again. Princess Yong is a warrior. She would never sing at the Palace " King Ye-jun said.

"If we allowed her to join the warriors we will lose her to our enemies. You know how they craved to have her for their Prince"

"No! That is a wrong notion, woman! I will hand her over to my strongest warrior who will train her in martial art and archery. She will become the strongest I assure you, my Queen. The korain has giving her blessing"

“I’ll be a warrior,” said Princess Yong; for she was still quite a little lad, and it seemed to her the finest thing in the world would be to carry a g*n and to be able to march one, two—one, two, and to wear a uniform and a sword.

“Ah, you learn to long for the drum-skin, drum, dum, dum!” said the Drum boy.

“Yes, if she could only march her way up to be a general!” observed her King; “but before she can do that, there must be war.”

********

“Drum, dum, dum!” The Fire-drum and all the other drums were beating, for war had come. The korain had just been hijacked. The warriors all set out, and the princess and the son of the drummer followed them.

“My Golden treasure!” The Queen falls on the floor wrangling and tearing her diamond-stones robe.

King Ye-jun strolled into the gigantic palace with his palace guards, since his father inherited the Gorgureo treasure He had never seemed to take his eyes off it. He admired it for the blessings and power it brought to the reign of his father. Now his father is dead and buried. He had long awaited such an opportunity to behold the Gorgureo treasure( Korain). As a little child, he had never had the chance into the Royal palace because a child is never allowed into the King's palace. They would go blind indefinitely because the Korain's power was reinforced with children's blood so the last wizard of the Gorgureo kingdom caused everyone child to be blind who set his per her eyes on it. King Ye-jun after his father was buried had ordered the place caretaker to repaint everywhere in the palace. He saw the new Palace with the painted pictures and the carved ancestors of their land. Those upon the canvas and in the jewel over the altar were just as beautiful as the carved ones, and they were painted and fitted into the bargain. Their hair gleamed golden in the sunshine, lovely to behold; but the real sunshine was more beautiful still. It shone redder, clearer through the dark borders when the sun went down. It was lovely and graceful to look at the sunshine beaming into the palace. And He looked at the rosy sun, and he thought about it so deeply and thought of the more blessing whom the Gorgureo treasure was to bring. He looked behind him and saw his youthful wife at the Palace entrance. she is very cheerful and looked so gorgeous. she has the smile of a goddess with lips as red as rose, her teeth as white as snow, and a voice so soft that could melt the toughest of hearts. The king wishes that his little Princess might have a gleam of sunshine given to her so that she might at least become like one of the shining carved ancestors over the palace or look like his beautiful Queen Bong someday. It would take over a century for that to happen but he sure wished for it. And when she had the little child in her arms, she held her up to her father, then she shined like one of the glittery diamonds in the treasure land to behold, with her gold like hair—the gleam of the setting sun was on his little princess. “My golden treasure, my riches, my sunshine!” said the Queen; and she kissed the shining locks on her neck, and it sounded like music and song in the rooms of the echoing Palace; and there was joy, and life, and movement. The king's orchestra beat a roll—a roll of joy. And the Drum said—the Fire-drum, that was beaten when there was a fire in the town due to the enemies sudden attack. “Red hair! the little princess has red hair! Believe the drum, and not what your Queen says! Rub-a-dub, rub-a-dub!” The king's orchestra sang. And the town repeated what the Fire-drum had said. The little Princess was taken to the Palace stronghold. the Princess was lowered and presented to the Gorgureo treasure to bestows his blessing on her. There was nothing much to be said about her name; she was called Yong. The whole town, and the Drum too, called her Yong. but her mother kissed her red hair and called her, her golden treasure. In a hollow way in the clayey bank to the palace, many had scratched their names as a remembrance. "Royal memory" is always something!” said the King; and so he scratched his name there, and his little Princess name likewise. And when the war broke out, King Deayang and warriors came. They had on their long journey, seen more durable characters engraven on rocks, and on the walls of the temples in Gorgureo, mighty deeds of great kings, immortal names, so old that no one now could read or speak o them. Remarkable Royals! They laugh. At the clayey bank, the Gorgureos built their war nest. The boreholes in the deep declivity, and the splashing rain and the thin mist came and crumbled and washed the names away, and the king's name also, and that of his little Princess. “My name will last for a long time and a half longer!” said king Ye-jun, “fool!” thought the King of Deayang. ** Yong, a little princess full of life and gladness, this King's princess with rosy hair. She has a lovely voice. She could sing, and she sang like a bird in the woodland. There was melody, and yet no melody but it would heal the broken tree and revitalizes the fallen and dry leaves. Her voice had such magical powers. Everyone wished to have her hand in nuptials bond, king Ye-jun's enemies wish to have her too. “She must become a Palace minstrel girl,” said the Queen. “She should all day sing to the Korain, and stand among the beautiful gilded carved ancestors, who she will be like someday!” "Woman! Don't say that again! Princess Yong is a warrior. She would never sing at the Palace again " King Ye-jun said. "My King, If we allow her to join the warriors, we will lose her to our enemies. You know how they craved to have her for their Prince" "No! That is a wrong notion, woman! I will hand her over to my strongest warrior who will train her in martial art and archery or whatever. She will become the strongest I assure you, my Queen. The korain has to give her its Royal blessing, and as such, no evil shall befall her. “Our Princess looks like a fiery cat!” said some of the witty ones of the Palace. The princess heard that from the compatriot's son. “Don’t call me that again, Daisy” cried princess Yong. “If you don't stop singing, there’ll be a fire in the cabin, and the fire-drum will have to be burnt down.” “Look out for the drumsticks,” replied Daisy; and, as small as she was, she ran up boldly and gave the foremost such a punch in the body with her fist, that he lost his legs and tumbled over, and the others took their legs off and flee her very rapidly. The town troubadour was very gentle and fine. He was the son of the royal plate-washer. He was very fond of Princess Yong and would sometimes take her to his home, and he gave her a violin and taught her how to play it. It seems as if the whole art lay in the princess Yong's fingers, and she wanted to be more than a minstrel —she wanted to become a minstrel to the Palace. “I’ll be a warrior,” said Princess Yong; for she was still quite a little lad, and it seems to her the finest thing in the world would be to carry a g*n and to be able to march one, two—one, two, and to wear a uniform and a sword. “Ah, you learning so well already with the drums and violin. So don't need to change now!” said Daisy. “Yes, you will be a warrior, my princess, if you could only march her way up to be a general!” observed her King; “but before she can do that, there must be war.” “Heaven forbid!” said his Queen. “We have nothing to lose,” remarked the King. “Yes, we have everything to lose, my Princess Yong” she responded, we have to protect her and anything that has to do with her. “But suppose she came back a general!” replied the king. “Without arms and legs!” cried the Queen. “No, I would rather keep my golden treasure with me.” “Dum, dum, dum!” The Fire-drum and all the other drums that were beaten for war had come. The korain had just been hijacked announced the Royal town Crier. King Ye-jun shouted out to his head Eunich, bring my Armour, bring my shield, bring my g*n, no to bring my bow and Arrow, the one that was passed down by King Jumong to our Ancestors then to me and assemble all the Royal Guards and warriors. The warriors all set out, and the princess and the son of the drummer were taken into the Queen's Chamber for safety, on seeing her daughter princess Yong, the Queen cried out. “My Golden treasure!” She falls on the floor wrangling and tearing her diamond-stones robe, Good to know you are Safe , Come to me you precious one, then She placed her on her laps and parted her to fall asleep in her hands. She was carried to the Royal bedroom that has furniture all shining with richness on a bed as Fluffy as fur, Daisy also fell asleep and was laid to sleep on a mat at the foot of the bed where Princess Yong is laid. The Queen laid beside Princess Yong. She has never been one who wanted to witness the war or see her little princess partake in it. The Queen slept out of anxiety and worries, she hopes to shut herself away from the impact of the war but the war has come as announced and everyone has to face the beats and regrets.
