“Ok! Here we are!” David said pulling up to my place. “Well thank you, I had fun today.” I smiled. “So did I Ryan.” David said grabbing my hand. “You know what? I’ll walk you to your door.” David said getting out. I followed suit and he met me by the front of the car. “What do you say we get dinner tomorrow?” He asked. “Sure, that sounds nice.” I said smiling as we walked to my door. He put in my code and I shook my head. “What?” He asked. “Nothing, it’s just a surprise that you still remember the number.” I said. “I’m good with numbers. That’s why I’m CFO and William is the COO.” David smiled and I smiled at him. He started to lean in again and this time I pushed forward. Hoping the spark I felt wasn’t a fluke. Our lips met again and I felt David’s arms wrap around me. Again I felt tiny sparks admit from his lips. David pulled away and I pushed forward again wanting to feel this feeling at least one more time. Our lips met for the third time this day. This feeling was intoxicating, I almost couldn’t get enough. David pulled away again. “Ok, this was nice.” David said and slowly let my out of his embrace. “I agree.” I composed myself. “I’ll see you tomorrow?” David asked and I nodded. “Of course.” I said taking a few steps into the door. “Bye Ryan.” He said as I slowly closed the door. I took a few deep breaths. I had to call Tonya. *David’s Perspective.* I knocked on the door. It opened and Audra stared at me. “George is here.” Audra said and I sighed. “You told me to come for dinner.” I said as I contemplated leaving. “I know I did. If I said George was coming. You wouldn’t have come.” Audra smiled a little mischievous smile. “He’s here!” Audra yelled. “Fine!” I whined walking in and to the living room. “There you are David!” William said. “Late as always.” George said. George was the tallest of all of us. He was more muscular and I swore he loved to wear tight shirts to show it off. Slightly tan skin, dark hair, and eyes. All through school, even after he left, they nicknamed him the god. “I’m not always late. I just got home.” I said and sat down. “Well as I was saying, everything is going well. There is some complaints about the roads down town. So I’m going to set up to have them fixed.” George said as William nodded along. “That’s a good plan.” William said and I pulled out my phone. I started typing a text to Ryan. “I have to say again, I had so much fun today.” I typed out and sent. “He’s not even paying attention now.” I heard George and I looked up. “I’m sorry, the talk about filling pot holes is so thrilling. I’m sharing the news right away.” I said with a smile. “David don’t start.” William said. “Yes David. Don’t start. You know as Omega of this pack you should care more.” George said staring at me. “I do care about the pack! I just don’t find road repair a very engaging topic of conversation.” I said and Audra came in with a tray of hors d'oeuvres. “David did you want your usual?” Audra asked handing a drink to George. “Yes, thank you Audra.” I said and she walked off. “Audra is perfect, I wish Harmony was as doting as her.” George said looking at William. “Yeah. She loves to host and be the hostess. Harmony isn’t really the hostess type. She’s better at leading.” William said and George nodded. I slowly pulled my phone out and happily saw there was a message in return. “I did too! What was your favorite part of the museum?” Her reply read. “Hey David.” I heard George and looked up. “Yes?” I said putting my phone away. “Tell me about the reports I’ve been getting about the new hire.” George said and before I could talk, he continued. “The human new hire.” He said and I looked at William. “I didn’t tell him.” William said. “She’s in your department, right David?” George said. “Is this why we’re all here?” I asked looking around. Audra came in and placed a drink in front of me. She looked around at everyone and then made her way to Will. She sat by him and then looked around again. “Oh! You guys must be talking about Ryan now.” Audra said and Will nudged her. “Ryan? I heard it was a girl who got hired.” George said looking at Audra. “What happens in the company really isn’t your concern.” I said and George looked back. “He’s living here yes? On pack lands? That makes him a part of my concern as well.” George said. “She, her! Her name is Ryan.” I said and William snickered. Then Audra followed suit. “What’s funny?” George asked. “Tell him David.” William said. “No, he won’t care anyways.” I said grabbing my drink and sipping. “Someone tell me.” George watched us all. “Oh fine, I will! Ryan is David’s mate.” Audra said and quiet filled the room. George started to chuckle and then his laughter grew. “I don’t understand why that’s so funny.” I said. “A human!? Of course if any of us were going to mate bond to a human, it would be David!” George started to laugh louder. “It’s not that funny.” I said looking at everyone. “Oh it is!” George sighed out and then straighten his shirt. “So I feel personally that you should reject her.” George said grabbing his drink and taking a large swig. “Out of the question.” I said. “Come on David. She’s a human. She won’t fit in here. People are already nervously talking about it.” George said. “Are they? Because I’ve only heard good things so far.” I said. “Actually, she’s very good with numbers and has caught on very quickly according to Angela.” Audra interjected. “Figures you would be mated to a math nerd like yourself.” George said lowly as he swirled around his drink. “I’m tired of you giving me sh*t for being good at math and with numbers.” I said quickly. I pulled my phone out to reply to Ryan’s previous message. “I absolutely loved everything. Especially spending time with you.” I typed and sent. “David?” William asked. “What?” I said looking up at them. “Have you said anything to her about us? I mean as a community. A pack?” Will asked and everyone watched me. “No.” I said and George sighed relief. “Then she will be none the wiser after the rejection.” George said. “I’m not rejecting her.” I said starting to grow with anger. “Yes. Give this a couple months and see where we are.” William said looking between us. “You guys have a bet don’t you?” George said. “Yes. Since humans are different, they don’t feel mate bonds like us. David has bet he can mark her in two months time.” Will said and George laughed. “Yes. Let’s see how that plays out for you David.” George finished his drink and grabbed a handful of hors d'oeuvres.
