“Hey! Sorry I was driving.” Tonya said. “Oh no it’s ok. I just had to talk to someone.” I said as I grabbed stuff out to fix dinner. “What’s up? Your texts were sounding urgent but it doesn’t seem urgent by the sound of your voice.” Tonya said. “It’s… um.” I took a deep breath. “Oh god, you’re umming. It must be bad. Tell me.” Tonya said. She knew I said um when I was uncomfortable or nervous. “We kissed.” I said and all I heard in the phone was squeals. “When, where, how!?” Tonya said with much more excitement then was needed. “The first was the space needle. Then a couple times at my house.” I said and Tonya made a excited squeal. “Wait! When were you at the space needle?” Tonya asked. “Today. It was a spur of the moment thing. We went to the museum and then he really wanted to go to the top of the space needle. Why does everyone always have to see it and go to the top?” I asked. “Who cares Ryan? What was it like?” Tonya asked completely invested. “I mean, I guess it was good.” I said and Tonya sighed. “You guess?” Tonya wasn’t buying it. “Ok it was amazing. His lips were soft and I felt like sparks just ignited every time our lips touched.” I sighed. “I just wanted to keep kissing him.” “Why didn’t you?” Tonya asked. “Because it was the end of the date. Well yes. He said it was a date to him.” I said as I heard my phone ping. I put her on speaker. “So it was a date? I knew he liked you Ryan!” Tonya said. “He text me!” I said and Tonya gasped. “I have to say again, I had so much fun today.” I read David’s message and my heart started beating fast. “What’s it say!?” Tonya asked. “He had a lot of fun today!” I said as I typed back and sent a message. “There! I said I had fun too and asked him what his favorite part of the museum was!” I said happily. “You asked him about the museum? Ask him to come over!” Tonya said. “Oh my god Tonya! I’m not like that!” I said as I heard Tonya cackle. “Oh! I wanted to meet up Saturday. I need to get my car.” I said. “Oh yeah? Did you want to grab a drink?” Tonya asked. “I would love to! I’ll let you know when I’m in town.” I said as I heard my phone ping again, I looked at the message. “Bring David!” Tonya said with excitement. “I absolutely loved everything. Especially spending time with you.” I read David’s message and felt myself smile. “Ryan?” I heard Tonya. “Oh, I’ll ask him.” I said quickly. “Awesome! I’ve gotta go. Gonna start my job hunt tomorrow.” She sighed. “Ok! I’ll message you tomorrow.” I said and we both said our good byes. “What a shameless flirt you are.” I typed and sent. I went back to making dinner. I started chopping some vegetables when my phone pinged. I quickly grabbed it. “Is it working? What are you up to anyways? Thinking of me perhaps?” His message made me giggle. “I’m making dinner, why did you want some?” I hit send. I went back to cutting and got through most the vegetables. I started oiling my wok and had my meats ready. I heard a knock at the door and paused. There’s no way David actually came over. I walked over and opened the door. “David?” I asked as he walked in. “You saved me from a horrible dinner.” David came in and turned looking me up and down. I was in my cardigan, tank top, and comfortable pajamas pants. “I wasn’t expecting company!” I said pulling my cardigan shut. “No, it’s cute. So what’s for dinner?” David said walking in and taking his jacket off. “I was making a stir fry.” I said walking to the kitchen. I got the wok on the stove and turned it on. “What’s stir fry?” David asked standing by the island. “It’s a dish with fried meats and veggies. Sometimes noodles or rice is added in.” I said waiting in the oil to get nice and hot. “Oh…” He walked closer and watched over my shoulder as I threw everything in. I started stirring and flipping everything on the pan. I added some seasonings as David continued to watch. I tested one of the vegetables to make sure everything was ready. “Ok! Let’s get some plates.” I looked at him with a smile and he went right to the cupboard the plates were in. “Alright, plates check!” David said setting them down. I started portioning a equal amount between us. Then David walked over and grabbed silverware. “Ok, how did you know where to look?” I asked staring at him. “All these homes are set up the same you know? My brothers and I designed them for our employees.” David said picking up both plates. We walked to the small table and he set them down. He held out my chair and I sat. “Do you live in one of these homes?” I asked. “No. On the other side of town are more homes. The biggest one belongs to George and his family. That’s the home I grew up in. Not far is Will’s and mine is right next to his.” David started to move around the food, almost reluctant to try it. “Try it.” I said as I took a bite. He slowly looked at me. “I don’t like vegetables really.” He said and I started to laugh, I almost choked. “It’s good.” I reassured him and he took a bite. He looked at me and faked a smile. “Oh my gosh, go spit it out if you don’t like it.” I said laughing. He jumped up and walked into the kitchen. He came back a moment later and started picking just the meat out. “The meats really good!” David said and I smiled. “Next time, I’ll plan something better for you.” I said with out thinking. “Really?! Then we’ll plan for a next time.” David seemed excited. He reached over and grabbed my hand. “So I saved you from one horrible dinner to come have another horrible dinner?” I asked and he sighed. “That one was horrible for a different reason.” David said. “I would rather have a better night, so let’s talk about something else.” David said and for the first time, I heard his voice sound angry almost. “Do you want to watch a movie or something?” I asked and David perked up. “Yes!” He stood up. “I’m not done eating.” I said with a giggle. “Bring it with you!” He said walking into the living room. I took a few big bites and grabbed the plates. I put them in the sink and walked into the living room. David was already scrolling movies. “Should I make popcorn?” I asked and he looked at me. “Yes! What kind of movies do you like?” He asked looking back. “I trust your judgment.” I said going back and grabbing popcorn out. I quickly popped it in the microwave and waited. After it was finished, I put it in a bowl and walked into the living room. “Well I hope you like action movies because that’s what I picked.” David said pressing play. “That’s fine.” I replied going and sitting next to him. He scooted closer and put his arm around me. As we watched, I grew tired and laid my head on his shoulder. I felt him slightly shift and looked at him. His eyes were on me and leaned down placing a kiss on my lips. I reached up touching his face. He moved back and looked at me. “I was just checking if you were asleep, but that was nice too.” David said before leaning back in this time when our lips touched I parted my lips. David wasted no time doing the same and our tongues met. His arm around my shoulders pulled me in closer. Our bodies were so close and I could feel the heat radiating off of him. Suddenly I felt vibration. We both stopped and broke away. “My phone is in the kitchen still.” I said breathing slightly heavy. David sat back and pulled his phone out. He looked at it for a moment and then he sighed. “Of course George just has perfect timing.” David stood. “You have to go?” I asked sadly. “I’m sorry. That uncomfortable dinner was with my brothers and apparently George still had something to talk about.” David was obviously upset. I got up and followed him to the door. He stood by the door and heavily sighed. “I’ll see you tomorrow?” I asked and he turned to me. “I really don’t want to go.” He took a step towards me and kissed me. “It’s ok, go take care of what ever it is.” I said softly. He nodded and turned to the door. He opened it and stepped out. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” He said before leaving.
