Rejection

After a few breathless moments Zeb got up shaking his head, just looking at Amy I could feel the relief from her. Eleanor and I sat back down after Zeb took a seat on the sidelines and the game started up again. Alexis had settled down and not said anything for a while which I felt was almost for the better, I was still trying to process the whole idea of having another personality in my head. I had kind of zoned out and was not really paying attention to the game so I was a little surprised when Eleanor started nudging me to get up so we could head to the field to greet Roger and meet up with Amy. 

    We walked up the field and of course Ashley and her little goons we all hanging out at the edge of the field talking to Amy and some of the other cheerleaders. As soon as she saw me and Eleanor walking up, she made some comment to her friends and the all started laughing, my cheeks started flaming knowing right away that they had been talking about me. Amy looked our way and did a small wave. I glanced at Eleanor to see if she had noticed Ashley at all, but she was scanning the field probably looking for Roger, as soon as she spotted him her face lite up and she started waving, Roger looked over and waved back and started walking our way.

    Eleanor started looking nervous as Roger got closer. "Tina, what if he doesn't actually like me?" she asked fussing with her dress.  I glanced over and rolled my eyes "obviously he is going to like your outfit, you look great! and really Eleanor I have never have seen Roger act like this towards anyone, I really doubt that he would act like he likes you if he really did not. he has so many girls throwing themselves at him all the time there would be no point" I assured her. I had my attention on the other team who were still having a meeting with their coach on the field, every now and then I saw Hayden glance in our direction and also saw some of the cheerleaders standing in a group watching our side of the field. 

    I shrugged of the looks from the girls and focused on Eleanor and Amy. " so, should we head to the party then?" Amy asked as she got closer. I was really wanting to just go home and forget about everything but I had never actually been to one of these parties and more than a little curious. I shook off my doubts of this being a really bad idea and looked at Eleanor who was still tugging at her outfit looking super nervous. "yea let’s go " I replied with one last look across the field at Hayden. we headed towards the car to wait for Amy as she rushed back into the locker room to change into her outfit for the party. Once we were at the car waiting, I decided it was the best time to ask Eleanor if she was sure she wanted to go to the party and let her know I was perfectly fine going back to her house to just have a girl’s night and watch movies instead. "hey El, you know we can blow off this party, right?" I was kind of hoping that she would say that she did not want to go. Eleanor looked at me like she knew what I was thinking but shook her head, "No Tina we need to go to this party, you can't hide from everyone for our entire time at school" she was looking like she was feeling more confident about her choice to go to the party so I decided I needed to suck up my own nerves and go for it as well. " hey El I was wondering if you wanted to start going for hikes and stuff with me after school or on the weekends? I really need to lose some of this weight, I really don’t want to look so gross all the time" I was kind of nervous about even bringing it up, I really did want to start getting out and doing something, Amy had walked up at the end of the conversation " Yea that’s a great idea I think we should all go hiking and doing more active stuff" Eleanor spoke up. "you guys ready?" Amy asked unlocking the car doors. " I guess, as ready as I am going to be anyways" I said sounding more confident than I actually felt. we climbed into the car and drove the 10 minutes to Zeb's house where the party was being held. 

    As we pulled up there were already a ton of kids hanging out both out on the front porch as well as in the front yard and there was music blasting. from the house. my heart was beating out of my chest at this point and I was ready to run in the opposite direction of the house. we climbed out of the car and Eleanor grabbed my hand almost like she could read my mind and was preventing me from making a run for it. as we walked up the path, I saw a few kids start to stare as they saw us, I couldn’t tell if it was them staring at Eleanor and Amy or it was more out of shock at seeing me at a school party.  It was problem a combination of both as we made our way into the house Amy spotted her friends and made her way to them. Eleanor saw Roger and Zeb standing in the kitchen drinking beer so she decided now was the best time for Eleanor to get Roger alone and not have to worry about any of the random girls interrupting them. "hey Eleanor, let’s go in the kitchen and grab some drinks " I said as I led her into the kitchen before, she could chicken out and decide that she did not want to talk to him. As we walked into the kitchen Roger looked up from his beer and smiled at Eleanor "wow" he breathed " you look great El, Really I like your outfit “he added giving her a once over.  he glanced at me and raised his eyebrows at me " I like your outfit too Tina. I was shocked. Roger had never given me any sort of compliment or at least not in the last 5 years. " umm thanks Roger” I replied, Tina and Roger were making some serious goo goo eyes at each other so I took that as my cue to give them some space and decided it was the best time to find a drink and something to eat. " Hey Zeb " I gave him a wave as I walked around the counter getting closer to the drinks " Hey" he muttered back. " how is your head? you seem like you really go hurt at the game. Amy was really worried about you" I decided I was going to try to find out how he was feeling about my sister considering all the times that she had blown him off in the past. 

    Zeb looked annoyed that I had mentioned him getting knocked out, typical football player never wanting to seem weak, on top of that he was going to be Rogers 2nd he could not afford to look weak ever unless he wanted to have his position challenged. " I am fine" he responded gruffly " And If Amy was so worried about me why is she not the one over here talking to me, why would she send her sister?" he added with a sneer looking at me. I was a little taken by surprise at his attitude towards me, I had gotten used to Amy and Roger talking to me like a semi normal person I had almost forgotten that everyone else was going to be treating me like I was less than them. " well Zeb, I know my sister I know how she was feeling when you were out on the field, I saw her and felt her panic when she thought that you were hurt Zeb, she looked like she was about to charge out on the field to check on you" I pushed on and ignored his annoyance and comment about her not being there talking to him. " yea well maybe you don't know your sister as much as you thought that you did El, you know I have asked her out plenty of times and she has never once even acted close to being interested , Alec thinks that we should just ignore her and make her feel the way that we have felt for the last year, why should we make things easy for her when she has treated us like dirt, just because she decided that I might be someone that she wants or needs to be around does not mean that I should chase her around like a puppy anymore" I could tell he was getting more and more frustrated as he was talking about my sister and really did not want to get him angry when he was drinking . " Ummm, I am really sorry Zeb I know she should not have treated you like that. All I know is how she looked like she was feeling when she thought that you were hurt, I have not been close with her for a long time but just from today she seems like she might be changing for the better, I know we are not friends at all but if you have feelings for her then it might be a good idea to give her a chance or not give her too much of a hard time for too long" I was not sure why I was trying to convince Zeb to give my sister a chance when she had not been the best person for the last few years.  

    Zeb looked like he was thinking about what I had said. " yea ok El, I'll see you later, oh hey Ashley is here, you might want to avoid her, I know she likes to give you a hard time “he added as he grabbed another beer and walked out of the kitchen. Great I thought that’s all I need to make my night Ashley is the last person that I wanted to see tonight. I decided that I would look for Amy to see how she was doing and if she was in anyway close to being ready to go home. I know it was wishful thinking but I was so not interested in sitting in a corner by myself all night and since I did not actually have any friends it was looking like that’s what the situation was going to be. as I looked into the crowded living room, I scrunched up my face trying to see if I could spot my sister in the crowd of people, after a few minutes I realized that she was not in there but I did see Ashley and her goons laughing at some lower-class men who was turning bright red and it looked like either Ashley had dumped her beer on the girl or the girl had spilled by herself either way Ashley was doing what she did and trying to make the poor girl as humiliated as she could. I was about to turn to check another room when a girl I kind of recognized walked into the house. I could not be 100% sure but I was pretty sure she was one of the cheerleaders that I had seen earlier in the day and at the game earlier tonight, she was wearing skin tight jeans and a light green crop top with some back converse, she was looking like she was trying to find someone which was odd since she did not go to our school. hmmm well I was not going to worry about it, I have never been to a party so for all I knew it might be normal for the other teams’ players come to the parties. I decided to go grab another drink before continuing my search for Amy. I was trying to look like I was super busy texting on my phone so I would not look like I was alone and look pathetic that my friends had left me.

 The whole walking and looking down in a crowded house party was a bad idea, I walked around the corner to head back to the kitchen and ended up walking right into a hard body. " Oh, shoot I am so sorry!" I stammered turning bright red, " Ha!! OMG Tina , at least your fat cushioned the poor guy , I am surprised you he did not go flying backwards out of the house from the impact"  as if this night could get any worse of course Ashley had seen the entire situation I could feel my face turning an impressive shade of purpleed and I still did not know who the heck I had run into ,I looked up to see the last person I actually wanted to see, I seriously wanted the ground to open and swallow me whole Hayden of all people it had to be Hayden that I had smacked into. and by the looks of it he was it he was just as friendly as Ashley, Alexis on the other hand was jumping up and down whining and acting like a fool in my head, " do you actually look where you are going or what " Hayden finally answered looking disgusted, " seriously you are as big as my quarterbacks and you don't have any football gear on” he added to the amusement of Ashley and her friends. 

    I was about 5 seconds from crying Infront of everyone who had gathered around to watch the show, when Eleanor walked into the room and saw me, she immediately walked across the room to me and grabbed my hand. " hey you know what, I know I saw you today, from now on just don't come near me, its freaky you are like some sort of stalker or something” Hayden added as we walked away, I glanced back as Ashley walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his waist, Hayden was smiling down at her and I felt like I was about to throw up
