Chapter three: Anoixe

1121 Words
A blinding light flashed beyond the double doors. Instinctly bringing Samari's hands to her eyes. 'You can open you're eyes.' Ripper said before he started along the dirt road ahead. We were on a path that seemed to be in a forest. Samari looked back. The door they had passed through had vanished. Leaving not a trace of existence behind. 'How did we get here?' she asked turning back to the male who was now several feet ahead of her. She quickly rushed to his side, not willing to be left behind in a place she had no idea of. 'When we get into the city you try to look more certain of what you're doing. I highly doubt one of the feared protectors would act like you are right now.' The jab was meant to sting but Samari knew it was true. She was far from what she needed to be in order to get home. If only the people who had brought her here took that into concideration before teleporting her back in time. She still couldn't believe this was happening. That this was real. For all she knew, she was home and this just a twisted dream. Or she had really drowned in the sea and this was a sort of deception hell was playing on her. But deep within she knew this was real. And as odd as it was, she calm and familiar with the experience. 'What's the plan?' she asked. Him leading them into the forest after saying they would learn more about Onisha's life wasn't really a plan. 'What am I supposed to call you anyway?' she asked when she was sure he wasn't going to answer her first question. 'Are you ever silent?' he paused enough to look at her and continued in his foyer. He looked so carefree. So indefferent. But there was something about him that screamed of power. A certain aura to the way he carried himself. Such that even surrounded by the most dangerous creatures he would remain unfazed. 'If you keep staring at me like that I'll be forced to think you like me.' he smirked. A devious curve of his perfect lips. 'I was only wondering how one being could be so arrogant.' With a speed Samari thought impossible to move, ripper was in front of her. A lazy grin across his perfectly sculptured face. 'Those who fear me call me Thanatos. Those who don't know me call me Daimon.' his gaze traveld to her lips before meeting her eyes. 'But you can call me Theos.' with the same speed, he put a couple of feet between them. 'We have to hurry, you're lady must be waiting for you.' He led her through a busy city. Vendors selling vegetables, fishermen offloading their carts of fish. The set up was just as her grandmother had described to her. It was similar to the Indinah she lived in. Apart from the ancient buildings and the enchantment that filled the air. They passed by carts selling new potions and spells of all sorts. The prospect of it was odd. She had always loved listening to Nana's stories but had always doubted if they were true. Seeing everything before her eyes was like a joke from the universe. Ripper - Theos - led her through narrow alleys. No one seemed to notice as they passed through the market. People would so much as look in her direction before turning their gaze away. Maybe she wasn't feared after all. 'Where are we going?' she asked Theos and he let out a curse at the exact same time a man pointed in their direction. 'Lady, Onisha.' the man said inclining his head as the people around him did the same. ' We heard of your ill health and are pleased to see you in better spirits.' Samari, glanced at Theos, he stood a few feet away from her. 'Play along', he mouthed to her. How could she play along to something she had not a clue about? 'I am truly grateful for your concern. If you will allow me, my lady requests my presence.' Only when the man relaxed his muscles did Samari realize he had been tense. Just like most of the people surrounding him. Not willing to give it another thought, she turned on her heel, following closely behind Theos. ' What was that?' she asked. 'That was you not doing as you are told. Speaking wears the glamor off.' He turned down an empty alley and Samari followed close behind. It led to a brick wall. A dead end. She opened her mouth to speak but Theos cut her off. 'Open the portal.' She had to have misheard him. How did he expect her to open a portal? 'I can't do that.' Even as she said it a part of her knew it was a lie. She leaned her back against the stone wall. Gathering her thoughts. 'Can you please tell me what we're doing?', she said it like the plea it was. She had woken up in an unfamiliar place, with blurred memories, with a complete stranger she doubted was human. The least she wanted was to know the way forward. He released a breath.'I was summoned here, either by you or whoever wants you here. I cannot leave until I meet my end of the bargain. And for that, I need to figure out how summoned me.' He paused, 'As for you, I know nothing about you serve for what you have told me. And I know less on the person who's body you now possess.' 'How is it that you don't know who summoned you?' she asked. He let out a breath, and turned his gaze to the sky. His obsedian hair shining underneath the sun. He was a magnificent sight to behold. He wore a black shirt, it's sleeves pulled back to reveal words written in ancient Greek. ' Put your hand on the wall and say the incarnation.' He told her, completely ignoring her earlier question. 'I don't know the any incantations.' She looked at him, hoping he could see the irritation she was more than willing to showcase. ' Will your power into your voice and command it to open.' She did as he said and placed a hand on the wall. 'Open.' She waited for any sign of the wall adhering her command, but nothing happened. Theos let out a chuckle from behind her. 'Incantations and spells must be spoken in the ancient tougnue.' 'And you tell me this now?' she turned back to the wall and placed her hand on it. 'Anoixe.' She whispered and with a subtle glow, the wall vanished.
