The BBQ place was a short walk from the office. With Mr. Sterling there, everyone was too shy to speak, creating an awkward silence. I had no choice but to play host. I raised my glass and toasted Mr. Sterling first. "Mr. Sterling, thank you for the promotion. I wouldn't be where I am today without you..." Mr. Sterling raised his glass to clink with mine.
