Charlie's thoughts were interrupted as he turned to look at Robert, nodding as he replied, "Of course I heard it! There was rustling, and some sounds were really close, but when I turned to look, there was nothing!"
"Exactly! Just like that!" Robert rubbed his temples, his expression pained as he asked Charlie, "Then why didn't you react at all?"
"Why should I?" Charlie shrugged. "Even if I'm scared, it won't change the noise. Some things just won't have a perfect outcome no matter how hard you try, so why be afraid of things you can't change?"
Charlie said this with a carefree attitude, but the others couldn't ignore the sounds around them like he did. Lucas looked at Charlie with admiration, not as if he were looking at a person, but more like a piece of art.
