Charlie couldn't help but shake his head as the group finally snapped into action. Some people only found their courage when danger was breathing down their necks. The sudden shift from paralyzed fear to grim determination would have been funny if the stakes weren't so high.
"No more talking," he barked, all business now. "We've wasted enough time. Move fast—we can't let them get ahead of us. For all we know, they're already planning their next move!"
Without waiting for a response, Charlie took off. The others fell in line behind him, their previous hesitation replaced by a razor-sharp focus.
A tense atmosphere spread through the group. Back in the real world, laws kept physical confrontations to a minimum. Most of them probably hadn't been in a real fight since they were kids.
