"Help me! Charlie, help me!" John's panicked screams echoed behind him as the sound of thundering hooves grew closer. Tears streaming down his face, he sprinted toward Charlie. Charlie skidded to a halt, spun around, and frantically waved at him. "Don't run toward me! Climb a tree! Hurry, climb a tree!" But John didn't listen. He kept running, his breath ragged and his face pale with terror. The ground trembled under the weight of the charging sheep, their momentum like an unstoppable wave. By the time John realized how close they were, it was already too late. "Help me! Ah!" His scream of despair ripped through the air.
