Chapter 9 Jake was awakened Saturday morning by a phone call from Paul. “He didn’t come home,” were the first words out of Paul’s mouth. “Find him, Jake. Please find him.” “I can try,” Jake replied. “Honestly, though, you should call Detective Ogden. He’s working on the Alan Sutton case. Tell him what’s going on and why you’re worried. He’s got the resources to start looking for Todd that I don’t.” “You know he’ll tell me I’m overreacting, but I’m not, Jake. I’m not. Todd’s never done anything like this. Never.” “I know. I think the detective will believe you. After all, this has at least some of the earmarks of the Sutton case, with Paul disappearing from work.” “He wasn’t at work. I tried calling him around four-thirty, to see if he wanted us to skip dinner out, since he’d be late.
