I Dare You

Chapter 20

Days went by really fast and it's already Saturday. There's a big charity event in New York and there will be so much press. I'm nervous, so nervous that make me don't want to go.

I'm wearing a beatiful red dress with my hair curled loosely. My make up was light and I wore a black high heels to complete my look. Add some jewelries and a few spray of perfume, I'm ready to go.

I went down to the living room and found the twins were talking to each other about dad's business. As I was going to eaves drop, Dean stood beside me.

"You don't look excited."

"I have my reasons.." I said without turning to him.

"What is it?"

"Just didn't feel good.." I sighed.

"Everyone ready?" Dad showed up completey ready in his Armani suit. Mom went down and she looked so beautiful.

"Rissa!" Dean asked.

"Yes.. coming!"

"Go get in the car." Dad said and I nodded. I walked out to find a limo here. I got into the limo and waited for the others. They got into the limo one by one and once we're all in, my dad gestured our driver to go.

"Stick together for tonight." Dad said and everyone nodded their head except me.

"Are you okay?" Mom asked me.

"Yeah."

"Are you sure? You space out a lot these days.."

"I'm fine."

"She's fine, mom. You don't need to worry about her." Rissa said as he held my hand.

"Starting from tonight.. your life will change and all eyes will fall on you." Dad said and I turned to the twins. They for sure love the attention more than I do. Rissa and Dean love the attention but not as much. For me, I love it.. that's why I'm a model but being under the spotlight with my family is another story.

When we arrived at the event, we can see there's tons of paparazzi outside. As soon as the car stopped, they opened the door and my parents went out first. Dean and Rissa got out followed by the twins and I was hesitating myself from going out.

Eventually, I got out and we took all of the attention from the press. They were asking questions and I'm starting to get dizzy with all the lights. Dean held on to me and pulled me closer.

"Why the sudden reveal, Mr.Edwards?"

"Never thought that these are your kids.."

"Katherina Locks? Is it a fake identity?"

"Why did you hide the kids?"

"Why now?"

"What's the purpose?"

They threw tons of questions, like a lot. My dad tried to answer all of it butwe have to go inside. Dean led me inside and made sure I'm okay. It was overwhelming for me and I tried so hard to stand when my legs are shaking.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"That was intense.." Dean said.

"Stick together.." Dad said as we walked inside. Victor took over and Dean walked beside dad.

"This is a bad idea.." Victor said and at least someone agreed with me.

"Yeah."

"I hate this kind of events.."

"What's the name of dad's insider in Harrison?" I asked and I knew he would answer it.

"Why?"

"Just answer it."

"His name is Ronald." Victor said and with that I left him. I stopped walking away when I saw Cole. He was talking and smiling to people.

I miss him.

Did I say that I miss him?

I looked around to find Jake, he's coming here. I want him to help me finding this Ronald. I don't trust that guy after that Cole said to me.

"Where are you going?" Dean dragged me back to where people gather around to see me.

"I was just looking for Jake." I said honestly.

"Stick to us.." Dean said as he held my upper arms tighter. People have lots of questions about us and I hate the attention that I'm getting tonight.

When I saw an opportunity to get away, I took it. I walked around to find Jake but I stopped when I'm facing Cole. He looked devastating handsome and he looked at me blankly before he walked past me.

"Cole.." I stopped him but he pushed my hand away.

"Not interested to talk to you."

"I want you to find a guy name Ronald in your company." I said and he turned to me raising his eyebrows.

"Why do you want me to find someone for you?"

"Text me when you know something about him." I said and walked away. I kept trying to find Jake but failed. Where is he?

"Cassie!" I stopped when I heard my dad's voice.

"Yes?"

"Come here.." He said and I walked to him.

"Sawyer, this is my youngest daughter, Cassie. Cassie, this is Sawyer Lance, my business partner and this is Oliver, his one and only son. He's a year older than you." Dad introduced me and I smiled at the both of them.

"You two will look great together." Sawyer said pointing at me and Oliver. Oliver let out a chuckle and dad gestured me to talk to him.

"Should we talk outside?" He asked and I nodded. He led me to the garden and we sat on the bench.

"I can tell that you don't like your dad."

"I like him, what are you saying?" I turned to him.

"Really? You look like you don't want to be here and you were giving him cold looks." He said and I sighed.

"I'm just tired, that's all.."

"Don't buy that." He said bluntly making me chuckle. "You got something going on with Cole, don't you?"

"You know Cole?"

"I've heard you telling him to find someone named Ronald." I turned to him instantly. "I know that person.. I'm actually looking for him. He's really good at manipulating people."

"Tell me more about him.." I said almost sound like begging. "Who is he?"

"Before we jumped into who he is. Do you know that your dad and Billy were actually friends back in the days?"

"No way, they hate each other." I said and he chuckled.

"They were friends before but then they both got played by some people that caused them to split in the end. They both always misunderstood the other person because they both got manipulated. The difference between your dad and Cole's dad is.. Cole's dad stayed silent when your dad silently attacking him."

"How did you know all of this?" I asked curiously.

"I have my ways. I'm looking for him too, he betrayed us and we lost a couple of millions. He stole something from us too." He added.

"That's crazy.." I hissed.

"Let's find him together.. let's be partners." He suggested.

"What do you have in mind?" I said.

"Next week, I'll have a meeting with the Harrison. Following my dad to be exact, I'll try to find something in that building."

"Do you want me to ask Cole for help?"

"He's not going to help, I tried." He sighed.

"Then tell me what to do.. I'll help you." I said.
