Chapter Forty-four
While the sky and water deepened to violet, Rosetta settled back into the wharf seat and talked with Matthew, hungry for news on the years that had passed. She laughed along with him as though he were her most treasured and reliable friend, a long-time companion she’d never had to lose.
Matthew brought up The Silvering again, and Rosetta conveyed her certainty that it hadn’t yet happened. Even though hatred and territorialism appeared to have diminished in the past fifteen years, the world still had a long way to go before serenity and safeness could comfortably reign. ‘The greed-lack cycle might take another century to fade out,’ she said.
Matthew responded with: ‘I used to think that, but now I feel positive the Currency of Kindness can return in our lifetime.’
