SHUT UP AND KISS ME!

CHAPTER 6

Sleep was impossible that night, there were so many things running on my mind. I toss and turn on the bed, I feel restless. I keep thinking of the things my mother told me over and over again.

"He tried to find us but he didn"t try harder." I concluded.

I got tired of thinking and get up to open the curtains of my bedroom window, I can see the sun starting to rise from the sky. It"s time to get ready for work.

The morning hassle and bustle in the office just slip away. I"m not my usual self.

After lunch break I received a bunch of flowers, it"s beautiful. I look for the greeting card to know who"s the sender and read.

Abbie,

Sorry about what happened yesterday. I"m letting you go...

Lance

Before I could set down the flowers on my table someone knocks on the door.

"Come in!" I said.

Lance entered and closes the door. I was surprised to see him and a little apprehensive because I don"t want a repeat of what happened yesterday. He walk slowly to where I"m standing, he glances into my eyes. I can see he had an apologetic look on his face. He stands in front of me while fidgeting with his hands.

"Abbie I apologize for what I did yesterday, I know I"m wrong to force you. Alcohol clouded my mind and I couldn"t stop myself from hurting you. I don"t know why I"m doing it all wrong, all I want is you but I didn"t stop myself and still cheated on you." He exhales releasing all the tensions his keeping inside.

"I met Martha three months ago at a bar, I didn"t know you were colleagues. Then things got out of hand, but I tried to end things with her at the club, she kissed me I got carried away and that"s where you found us. I"ve been thinking hard last night, I keep on seeing your sad face over and over that is why I"m here to ask your forgiveness. I"m letting you go because I realize you will not be happy with me anymore." He utter.

Hearing those words left his mouth a feeling of relief wash over me. Even if I deny it to myself, I know deep inside I still want to know the truth. I want to know what I did wrong and hearing his confession satisfies me.

"Lance I forgive you, I"m glad you had the courage to admit you"re wrong. Thank you for understanding that I cannot be with you anymore."

I walk the remaining steps and close the gap between us. I hug him feeling grateful that finally I can move on. After a brief moment I release him and take a few steps back.

He holds my hand and looked into my eyes regretfully.

"Thank you, your always very kind to me I don"t deserve it. I will deeply miss you, I hope someday you will find the right man who will love you and makes you happy." And with that he turns his back on me and walks away.

I had a very busy week, daily meetings, plan revisions and site inspections.

I saw Jake once or twice before I go to work, we just greeted each other. I wonder when can we hangout again, I enjoy his company.

I need some time to unwind but unfortunately Lisa was not available at the moment, she"s the only friend I have.

Thank God it"s Friday which means I can relax a little at work, but my boss called up an emergency meeting. My life is so stressing.

I walk my way to the conference room suddenly someone bump on my shoulders and walk pass me. I almost lost my balance, it was Martha a.k.a. "THE b***h"

"Oh! I didn"t see you there." She utter distaste lace on her voice.

"Maybe you’re blind or something, I suggest you see a doctor immediately." I retort disgusted.

"It"s not my problem that you seem to be invisible and boring that"s why Lance notices me." She proudly announced.

"Oh! So your saying being an attention w***e is better?" I snarl and glares at her. She didn"t have a good comeback and stay silent so I walk pass her and smirk.

I check the time and it"s now five o"clock at last I"m going home. I just want to lay on my sofa and watch some movie while eating Chinese takeout.

Walking up the stairs to my apartment I heard my phone ring it was a message from Jake.

Hi beautiful! wanna hangout tonight? J. W.

Sure, I"m planning a movie night over Chinese. Would that be ok? A. C.

That will be great. Are you home already? J. W.

Yes, I"ll wait for you. A. C.

Ok I"m on my way. J. W.

I climb the stairs hurriedly to reach my door immediately. I take a quick shower and put on a white tank top and blue denim shorts. I was brushing my hair when Jake knocks on the door.

"Hi! I bought shrimp dumplings and steamed pork buns

I hope you"ll like it." He said as I opened the door. He beam at me and lifted his hands so I can see that his carrying two bags.

"It"s good that you already brought our dinner, I"m famished." I said opening the door wider to let him in.

I let him choose what movie to watch, surprisingly he likes romcon movies. I expected him to choose an action or adventure.

We were seated on the sofa eating and enjoying the movie. He put his right arm above the back rest of the sofa particularly touching my back on the process. I felt a shiver run down my spine.

"Abbie can I use your bathroom?" He said on the middle of the movie.

"Okay, it"s inside my bedroom the door to the right." Giving him directions.

He rise and strode to my bedroom. I continue watching the movie but then I remembered I forgot my underwear on the sink! I slap my forehead in embarrassment for sure he will see those. I think I"m going to die!
