Chapter 3.

“So, did you text him?” Wendy said as she put the tray down at the table. We’re currently having our dinner in a buffet restaurant in a mall nearby.

I put a big lobster tail on my mouth, “Actually, I did. But..”

“But..?” Wendy moved closer to me and looked at me, as if she is trying to look something from my eyes.

“The signal of my phone is busted. I can’t send the message though, so I just let it slide. Maybe it was not meant to be.” I shrugged; my mouth full of the lobster tail that I am still munching on.

“Who’s texting who?” Sam asked as she was holding a tray of blue lemonade. It was really nice of her to get us drinks, but the bad news is..

I hate blue lemonade.

But me, being a nice friend that I am, I will just chug this down like a beer and I won’t let her get my drinks again.

“Alexa met someone online.” Wendy started, “And his name is Julian. He finds Alexa interesting so I am pushing her to go out with him, but of course, Julian was the one who asked her for a date and not the vice versa though.”

“Wow, is that true? That you are definitely going on a date with someone?” Sam clarified, “Here’s your drink, madam.” She jokingly served my drink.

“Thank you, my lovely servant.” I joked, “And yes, he did asked me out for a date but..”

“What is it again?” Wendy argued, “There’s always a but in everything that you are saying, Alexandra.”

“Well, basically Wendolyn, Julian hasn’t seen my ugly face yet, so I won’t be surprised that if he ever sees my face, that he’ll literally run for his f*****g life. He might be expecting me to be a beautiful swan but the truth is that I am just an ugly ducking who is desperate for love.”

I can see how pissed Wendy is now, not because of what I had said but because I used her real name to call her out, which I found funny.

“Yah!” She shouted, but not in the way that she’ll hurt me or whatever, “You know that I really hate it when someone calls me by my real name.” She drank her lemonade, trying to calm herself down, “If only I can change my name then I would.”

“What? Why? Your name is cute though.” Sam stated, looking at us with her innocent small doe eyes.

Wendy just looked at her and her face softened. There is really something about Samantha that you cannot argue about. She is pretty frank and she always speaks what is on her mind, but you cannot get mad at her, it’s just, you can’t. She’s too precious for this world.

“I will tell you the s********e other time, Sam.” Wendy said, caressing her head, “You’re so cute, you know that.”

“I know.” Sam flipped her hair, “No wonder Jamin is so crazy about me.”

“Who is he? I haven’t heard of him.” I sarcastically said, while fixing my eye glasses. Seriously, these glasses are always falling down from my nose bridge. I think I need a new eye glasses or maybe I should just get some eye contacts?

“You should get yourself some contacts, Alex.” Wendy said, “Your glasses are obviously hiding the beauty of your face you know.”

“Beauty my ass.” I said, “We all know that I am not hiding anything because clearly, there is a no beauty to really to hide.” I chugged my blue lemonade, it really tastes disgusting but I don’t really want to show Sam that I am disgusted because I might hurt her feelings. I just tried to chug it quickly but I ended up coughing.

Sam automatically caressed my back from the coughing that I am having, “I know that you don’t like blue lemonade but you still drank it so I really appreciate you, Alexandra.” Sam said and she smiled. She was actually staring at me when she suddenly said, “You know, you need some kick ass make over. Your eyebrows are really bothering me. We should have them trimmed. They are literally bushes screaming for a major make over!”

I pushed her away, gently, “I am proud of my super thick eyebrows, you know. At least I don’t need them tattooed or something.”

“We should have it reshaped and God..” Samantha looked at my face again, “I know that you are really smart and we all know here that you spent your nights studying and s**t, but I know that you know that staying up late at night can cause pimples, right? We should really have your skin checked.”

I know that I don’t really have the most flawless skin in our friends, as a matter of fact, my face is full of flaws. I know that the words flawfull doesn’t exist but maybe I can be the one to invent it one day.

Just as I was about to answer Samantha, I already saw my best friend Irene coming in our table, together with Theo again and Jamin of course.

Sam is already blushing.

Irene automatically sat beside me, “What’s up? What is happening now?”

“Well, I think I am the new best friend now because I know that you don’t know what is really happening to Alex right now.” Wendy said, “You can ask my why, Irene.”

Irene glared at me, “What is this all about, Alex? Something that I don’t know?”

“It’s just..”

“Come on, Alex, you should tell us.” Wendy said, trying to cheer me up.

“Uhh, the truth is that, someone just asked me for a..” I began but I don’t know the correct words to say.

“Come on, you can tell us. No one will judge you.” Theo assured and he smiled.

Theo is really handsome to be exact and Irene is like a walking goddess, and they are the perfect match to be honest. He is the perfect guy for Irene, because he is an all-in-one package; he is handsome, kind and can even cook well.

“If that is definitely about dating someone then we will help you.” Jamin said.

Jamin is also like the Theo but the difference is that, Jamin height is in a bit of contrast of that of Theo. He is a bit inches smaller but he is still adorable.

“Well, I am.. I am invited by someone for a date.” I said.

“Really? You are going on a date?” Irene was surprised, but surprised in a way that she is happy about me, “Who is this lucky guy? We should meet him!”

“There is a catch though.” I said and that made Irene frown.

“What is it? Is he like some dumbass again? Did he stood you up?”

“No, it is not like that, but it is that, he gave me his number because it took me a long time to reply to his chat that is why he just gave me his contact number. I was about to call him but the signal of my phone is busted. I don’t know when I can buy a new one.” I said, sadly, even though I have the funds to buy a new one, I just think that this is not worth it.

I’ll just buy when I think that I really need it. I still have my tablet for my messenger I guess.

“The f**k, are you kidding me?” Irene said, “You can buy a new one. Come on!” Irene pulled me from my seat, “Since we are at the mall right now then we can definitely buy a new one right now.”

“Yes, you should buy a new one, you should not let go of that guy but..” Jamin paused, “What is his name? We might know him, you never know.”

“His name is Julian.”

“Julian..?”

“I didn’t got the chance to get his last name.”

“Wow. You should have asked his full name so we should have done a background check on him, he might be a serial killer or..”

“Or even another ruthless heartbreaker?”

I looked behind me and saw Joy standing behind us, “What is the latest scoop? You’re going to date someone?” She asked, sitting at the vacant chair.

“Joy, don’t be pessimistic. Alex is just trying to give herself a chance to love others and to be loved, you know.” Wendy said.

“I know, but I don’t want her to be miserable like what happened to her with Terrence.” Joy said, “I am just being protective of our youngest here, you know. I just don’t want her to be crying buckets again and even attempted to kill her own life. I really don’t want that.”

But then, the past got me again.

It is true that I almost took my own life because of a guy that wasn’t even mine in the first place. It was really stupid of me to do that.

But then, I just want to laugh at the thought of it.

Me, trying to kill my own self just because of him? Well, yes. I was really stupid for almost doing it. I was just really thankful for Irene for having my life that day. She stopped me for taking load of sleeping pills.

For me, it was just too painful to bear and I was really hoping that day that if I sleep really long, that the pain will be washed away, but I guess something different happened.

I woke up that day inside a hospital with load of medical apparatus attached to me. Irene said that I was asleep for 4 days and they were monitoring my heart rate because it was too low.

If Irene didn’t find me that day, I would have been six feet under the ground now.

Back to the present, I know that Joy was just really worried about me. When she found out that Terrence was the main reason for my pain, she didn’t waste any second and she rushed to his condominium and punched the hell out of his place. Terrence really wanted to file a complaint about Joy but Jaydus stopped him.

By the way, Jaydus and Terrence are cousins.

Jaydus cheated on Joy.

So I guess, they do have the same blood flowing in their veins right now.

“Not all of the boys are the same, Joy. We should not lock Alex up and not let her like someone else. Hurting is part of life. She learned her lesson and she know the level of stupidity and s**t that she made, I am very much sure that she won’t do it again, am I right, Alex?” Sam said, holding my hand. “You should give that Julian a freaking chance because you never know, he might be waiting for your call right now.”

“I am just being protective but it is your call Alex. It is your decision after all, just don’t do the mistakes that you have don’t before, okay?” Joy smiled at me, “You are our youngest and we don’t want you getting hurt.”

“So you should really buy a new phone now and call him!” Wendy cheered, “We just want you to be happy.”

I know that taking this risk again might end up hurting me again, but I really don’t know why I always think of getting hurt.

Then I remembered what Julian told me, that I should focus on the present and not on the past because it is what is happening right now. That I should just use the past as a lesson for me to have a better decision for the future.

And this is me making a final decision,

“Okay.” I smiled at them, “Then we should bill out right now and buy a new phone.”

I was about to stand up,

“The f**k? I just started eating and I paid a big amount for this buffet then you are all going to leave me?” Joy groaned, “You can buy later! I am sure that there loads of new phones out there, but for now, can we just enjoy our lunch?” She pleaded.

We all laughed and we stayed. We even got some platter again to start.

After all, fifty dollars for a buffet is really expensive.

I just really hope that risking this will have a good outcome.
