Wynn’s POV
We get to the theater and all my friends are in the VIP section. They all already knew about Cooper. Sebastian sits on the other side of me. Regardless of the past couple days I need him and he knows it. Chadwick sits on the other side of me. The first movie starts, and no one talks, we just watch the movie. A few people scream from time to time which makes me laugh. Chadwick holds my hand during the movie. I don’t really want to but I’m giving him a chance. It feels foreign. It doesn’t feel right. I finally let go of his hand. I can’t imagine trying to kiss him if holding his hand doesn’t feel right. I hear in my head, “You’re giving him a chance that’s all I asked for. If it doesn’t feel right, that's not something you can help.” Cassandra says.
When the movie ended there was a break to do the birthday cake. My wish was simple. To have Cooper back. I knew it was a pipe dream, but I wanted him back. This birthday was sucking without him. We all went to sit back down for the next movie. Sebastian stops me before we go up to our seats. “Are you doing, okay?” He asks.
“I guess so I miss Coop. I’ll be okay though. Hopefully he’ll be back tomorrow.”
“I’m sure he will. Everything is going to be okay.” He gives me an encouraging smile.
“Yeah, you’re right. I’ve just never been so ready for my birthday to be over.”
Sebastian laughs. “That isn’t like you at all.”
“No, it really isn’t.”
“Next year will make up for it.” He reassures me.
“You’re right again. I just have to make it through this movie, go home and wait.”
“That’s the spirit.” He hugs me and we go back to our seats.
Nightmare on Elm Street starts. Victor starts discussing his fear of the dark.
“I have this overwhelming fear of the wood and the dark.”
“So basically, you’re afraid of Jason coming after you,” Katy says chuckling.
“I guess so. I never thought of that.” Victor gets strangely quiet.
Everyone sort of chuckles at him while watching the movie. “What’s your fear?” Chadwick whispers to me.
“I don’t get Coop back.”
“That makes sense.” He says. I can tell he expected it to be something else. He moves slightly away from me.
I’m not trying to be rude or anything I’m just being honest to him. I miss Cooper. I really do. I would be miserable if he never came back. Sigh.
Once the movie ends, I’m so ready to leave. I’m ready for the day to be over. I say goodbye to everyone. Victor and Sebastian load all my gifts into Ava’s car. She is going to drop them off to me tomorrow. I then get into Chadwick’s car, and he takes me home. We are sitting in his car outside of my home. “I guess I will see you soon.”
“Yes, you will. Thank you for a nice day.”
“You’re welcome. I really do hope you had fun.” He says. Turning towards me.
“I did. I’m sorry I wasn't having more fun. It’s just Coop.”
“I understand. Next time we’ll all do something together.”
“I’d really like that.” I smile at him. That would be good, I thought. I’d get an idea if I could do some sort of an arrangement with Chadwick or not.
“Alright let’s plan for next weekend?”
“Next Saturday?” I suggest.
“Perfect.”
“Great. Well, I’ll see you then.” I hug him and kiss him on the cheek.
“Happy birthday again.”
“Thank you.”
I get out of the car and run inside. I’m home alone. Shelby is still at the theater taking care of things. I go into my bedroom and get undressed. I take a hot bath to just relax and pass the time. It’s almost midnight. With any hope he’ll be returned at midnight but more than likely it will be in the morning. I close my eyes and relax. I hear a noise but chalk it up to Shelby. Until I hear a voice. “Move up. Unless you want to be left alone.”
I smile and move up. Then I turn around and look at Cooper. “I missed you like crazy.”
“I bet I missed you more. I was stuck in an empty room all day doing nothing.”
“I’m sorry.” I kiss him. Showing him how much I missed him.
“I missed you too, beautiful.”
“Never again. I don’t want you taken ever again.” I look at him with pleading eyes. Even though I know he can’t guarantee it to me I just want him to say never. I need it.
“Never.” He kisses me passionately.
We make love in the tub, the water splashing over the side onto the tile floor. “Happy birthday.” He tells me when we’re done.
I clean up the floor and get dressed for bed. I can tell Cooper is keeping something from me and is waiting for the right time to tell me. I give him time to tell me. I don’t want to rush him. It makes me paranoid wondering if something happened between Cassandra and him. I am preparing myself for it. I think I’ll be sick. I’m making myself sick thinking about it.
He takes me into his arms and holds me in bed. Kissing my head. “I need to talk
to you about something.”
“Okay. What is it?”
“It’s about my time away.”
I take a deep breath. I fight the bile that is threatening to come up. “What happened?”
“I was shown something.”
“Something?” I sit up and look at him.
“Our lives together.”
“You and me?”
“No.”
“What?”
“All of us.”
“All of us?”
“Chadwick, you, and me.” He clarifies.
“What did you see?” I anxiously await his answer.
“I saw two things actually. I saw our lives. You and me. Then I saw the life of the three of us.”
“What did you see?” He is making me nervous.
“I think you should go for the three of us.”
“Why?”
“Because I die.”
