Wynn’s POV
We get to the club. Cooper is holding onto me. I’m beyond happy. Everyone comes up to me in person and congratulates us. My good friend Victor comes over to us. “Congratulations to you both. I wish for many years of happiness.”
“Thank you,” we both say.
“You must let me throw an engagement party for you. Sometime in November or December. Probably November would be best. You pick a Saturday that works best, and I’ll make it work.”
“Thank you, Victor. That is very generous of you.” I hug him.
“It’s the least I can do.”
“Victor has a money dad as well.” I explain to Cooper.
“Oh so the three of us have the same situation,” Cooper explains laughing softly.
“Yes, we do. At least we know it will be a nice wedding with two dads just throwing money at it.” Victor chuckles with a smirk on his face.
We all go out on the dance floor. I love how Cooper holds me close. I can definitely get used to this for a lifetime. I look around the club and I see him. I put my head down. “You saw him?” Cooper asks.
“Yes. He is on the other side of the club just staring at me. It’s a wee bit creepy.”
“Do you want me to say something to him?” Cooper looks around and spots him. He nods at him. I try to keep myself from laughing.
“You are going to invite him over.” Suddenly I’m worried he is going to have some type of magical power to make him dance with me. I am scared.
“You’re safe. You’re with me. I promise you’re safe.”
I cling to Cooper just a little tighter. I know it’s a childlike worry, but it makes sense in my head. “He isn't a human who knows what he can do.”
“Well, he is bound to have a weakness. We’ll find it.”
I kiss him. He is the greatest. “I love you.”
“I love you, Wynn.”
He kisses me deeply. I feel someone beside us and I want a club at that moment to beat whoever it is. Do they not realize they are messing up my perfect moment with my Everlasting? Read the room people.
I break off from Cooper and Sebastian is standing right there. “Can I break in?” He asks. I can tell it is taking every bit of effort to ask. He has a shameful expression on his face.
“That’s fine.” I say. There is an edge to my voice.
Cooper kisses my forehead and walks away. Sebastian and I are dancing together to a fast song. Thankfully. I couldn’t have done a slow song with him. “I’m sorry for acting like an ass.”
“Well, you have been a huge one.” I don’t look at him I look away.
He tries to get me to look at him. “I’m happy for you. I’m glad you found your Everlasting and I’m glad it’s Cooper. He’s a great guy. You couldn’t have got someone better.”
I look him in the eye, and he is shocked. “Thank you. I don’t think I could have gotten anyone better if I tried.”
“I agree.”
“Can you forgive me for my behavior for the past couple days?” Sebastian asks. He is looking me in the eyes. You can tell he really means it. I think if I told him to get on his knees, he would do it.
“Yes, I can but I would forget.” A solitary tear went down my cheek.
“Understood. I’m so sorry I hurt you.”
“I am too.” I walk away from him.
I walk over to Ava who is at the table. I tell her about the conversation with Sebastian. She shakes her head and hugs me. I don’t see Cooper anywhere. Mitch comes over with drinks and smiles, “He ran into the restroom. He’ll be right back out.”
“Thank you. I didn’t know if he ran out.” I say. Feeling the relief spread over my body.
“You’re fine. He knew you’d be looking for him.”
I watch Cooper heading towards me when one of the biggest w****s at school stops him. I take a deep breath and trust in Cooper. He wouldn’t do anything. I watch as he rebuffs her. She is beyond shocked and upset. I can’t help but smile. I hide it of course. He comes up to and kisses me. “Sorry about that. I got held up by some girl who had the mistaken idea I would be interested in her.”
“Poor thing.” I tease.
“I know. She doesn’t know I’m hopelessly devoted to this other girl.”
“She is very lucky.” I wrap my legs around Cooper and pull him into me.
“No, I’m very lucky. Don’t get it confused.”
“I’ll have to remember that.” I kiss him. Feeling his body relax against mine.
I feel the mystery guy staring at me again. Ava sees it and does a low whistle. “He is hot. No offense Cooper. But damn. Sorry Mitch.”
“Would you like to do a blanket apology to all the guys in the club?” Mitch teases.
“She might need to.” Cooper jokes.
“The way he is looking at you.” Ava seems at a loss for words.
“Well he seems to be ready to come over here.” Cooper says. He tightens his grip on me.
Victor sees him coming and joins our foursome. Mystery guy gets here the same time Victor does. “Hello. My name is Chadwick.”
“I’m Victor. They are Mitch, Ava, Cooper, and Wynn.” He doesn’t point at any of us when he says our names. He does this on purpose.”
“Nice to meet you all.” He smiles at me.
“Same,” Ava manages to get out.
“I was wondering if you’d like to dance?” He looks right at me.
I’m shocked he is asking with Cooper’s hands all over me.
“You should probably ask her Everlasting,” Victor says in a snarky tone.
“Oh, I was unaware.” He genuinely looks surprised. He looks at Cooper. A flicker of jealousy shows on his face.
“It’s fine as long as she agrees to it.”
He looks at me expectantly. I finally shake my head yes. We walk out onto the dance floor. I don’t hold his hand as we walk out there. The music changes to a slow song and I don’t have to wonder if he did it or not. He smiles at me, and I know my suspicions are correct.
He holds me close and takes a deep breath. “Hello Wynn. I’ve waited forever for you.”
“Why?”
“You are my everything.”
