Meeting

Eric’s POV   “Ready little brother?” Tristan asked with a grin.  He was ready with his sword, standing in front of me.  We’ve fought for three rounds now. “So this is what father said about competition…” I said and got ready. My brother nodded. “He said you’ve been skipping practice to meet up with friends. Our family doesn’t do that, you wouldn’t want to ruin our reputation now, would you?” He charged at me with force and with his sword pointed at my face. I defended myself. “I don’t care about what others think.” “Maybe you should. For father.” He said and charged again and I defended myself. “Oh come on, stop being a wuss and fight!” I furrowed my brows at him and charged but he was quick, but I had remembered his moves and techniques from before so I modified my techniques a bit. I was quicker. I turned back and hit his bum. “Agh!” Then he chuckled. “You’ve been practicing I see.” I ignored his comment. “Why does father care about our reputation so much?” I asked as I ran back towards him, jumped in the air with my wings, about to bring him down. He put his sword up in defense and my sword hit his with a loud noise. We held our positions, me pushing him down slowly in the air and him trying to push me away. “Ask him yourself.” He said clearly struggling. I got confident at his struggle and pushed him down with all I had and he fell. I stood in front of him and pointed my sword at him. “I win.” I was very proud indeed. “Where does this extra strength come from?” He said still on the floor. I put my sword away and sat down beside him while I shrugged. “I’m just that good.” He shook his head. “You also look fresher, your color shines a bit.” Then he gave me a look. “Is it maybe because…?” My mind went straight to Aria. I felt my heart beat faster at the thought of her. I also got a stabbing pain in my stomach. Where could she have been? “…you’ve found someone special?” He continued. I just gave him a small side smile while I let my head fall down and I looked up to the wooden ceiling. “You did, didn’t you? You found your mate!” He said and slapped my head back up. His slap was still strong since last time. I rubbed the back of my head. “No worries, I’ll win you next time. You’re just this strong because of your mate. When I find mine I will crush you.” He was already 22 years old and hadn’t yet found his mate, but we all stayed hopeful for him. “Yeah well, maybe I’ve just become stronger because I actually have been training. But just not here. With Axel.” I said still with Aria taking over my thoughts. “Yeah, you and Axel are the best here. Along with that other red fairy. Ruby?” “Yeah, that’s her.” “But don’t change the topic. Who is the lucky fairy?” He asked and gave me a shoulder bump. I laughed a bit. “Her name is Aria.” I didn’t know how to feel. It felt like she didn’t really want anything to do with me but at the same time, she does. I didn’t know if to feel pain or happiness when mentioning her. I was feeling both at the same time and it was confusing me. “She is a purple fairy. Most beautiful I’ve ever seen.” I continued and stood up. “When can I see her?” Tristan said smiling wide. “I don’t know…” I said. “Let’s go.” I walked towards the exit. I needed to clear my mind. “What do you mean you don’t know? Where is she?” He asked, following me. “I don’t know, Tristan.” He looked at me confused.     Aria’s POV   We were on our way to the meeting at the principal’s office. Amare’s face showed anxiety but Ekon held her. They were both nervous about meeting the royal fairy family. I knocked on the principal’s door and gave my parents a look of comfort to calm them down. For some reason, I wasn’t as scared at the moment but this was definitely a weird situation. “Come in.” We heard the principal say. So I opened the door and we walked inside. My eyes caught Alyssa’s and she smiled. Then I looked behind her where her parents stood. They looked over at us and smiled. They were really fancy. Expensive clothes, like rich business people. There were only two chairs for me and Alyssa in front of the principal’s desk and I sat down beside her. Amare and Ekon stood behind me. They looked at her parents in awe. The royal parents saw them and started introducing themselves to us. “Hello, my name is Rowan and this is my wife Ariel. It’s a pleasure.” Alyssa’s father said. His voice screamed authority. He was definitely a man of power. He and Ariel put their hands out and Ekon carefully shook it, as did Amare. “I’m Ekon and this is Amare, my wife.” I saw Rowan look at me with a perplexed expression while I shook his hand. I was a little scared. I tried my best to bury my fairy somewhere deep inside just in case.   “Let’s start.” The principal said. We all paid attention to the principal but I could feel the vibe between me and Alyssa’s parents. It was not a good vibe. Amare put her hand on my shoulder for comfort. But I could feel her stressing too.   At the end of the meeting. “I guess an apology is only needed and for you to pay the school damages for the lockers. But if something like this happens again. Then only an apology will not suffice.” The principal said harshly before letting us out. We all were relieved that there weren’t any serious consequences. But something did not feel right. We all walked out together. “Don’t worry, we know our daughter can be a bit too much sometimes. We will pay for the damages. You don’t have to.” Ariel said and turned to Amare and Ekon. “No, we can split the price please.” Amare insisted. “We insist.” Rowan said and put his palm up as there was no use discussing it further. Then they walked away. Why were they being nice? Was the energy at the principal’s office all just in my imagination? Amare and Ekon turned to me and let out a sigh. “This was crazy.” Amare said as we started walking back home. “They were actually nice.” “This was dangerous. Let’s just hope they didn’t feel Aria’s fairy. They shouldn’t be able to feel it. You can hide is much better than normal fairies.” Ekon said. “I just hope that’s enough.”   Suddenly a voice. “Aria!” I turned around and saw Liam. I stopped and waved. “Were you waiting for me?” I asked as he approached. “Yeah, I just wanted to know how things went with Alyssa. Plus, my mom wanted you to come over for dinner tonight.” I looked over to Amare and Ekon who stood further away but listening. They just nodded and started to leave us. “Be home before midnight.” Ekon called to me. “Yeah.” I called back. “So, how was it?” Liam asked. “I literally met the king and queen of fairies. I was so scared they’d see my fairy. I really hope they didn’t.” “The royal fairies?! Are you sure? Well, I don’t think they did. You’re probably safe.” He said shocked while giving me a small side hug. “We only had to apologize and Alyssa’s parents are going to pay for the damages we made. Yeah… Alyssa is the fairy princess.” I finished saying. “What are the odds?! She just happened to be the princess of all fairies. Woah, next time I see her she will be so different in my eyes. She’s literally royalty. Yeah, the lockers. I heard about that. How did that happen?” He asked. “She pushed me really hard into them. I guess she used her fairy powers or maybe just her natural strength.” I looked at him and saw concern in his eyes. “You’re okay though, right?” He asked and I smiled. “Of course! It was just a bit scary at the moment. But it’s over now.” “I shouldn’t have left you alone with her.” I heard him say. “Hey,” I said and took his hand in mine, he looked at our intertwined fingers. “Not your fault at all. No way you could’ve known this would happen. It was even a shock to me.” He smiled. His eyes shining. I got lost in them for a second until I noticed.  Aria, dang this is Liam.  He didn't seem to notice that I was mesmerized by him. Would've been awkward if he did notice. What's wrong with me? This is just Liam. Not long after we arrived at his house. Dinner was so good but his mom was also a great cook.   “Thank you so much for dinner. It was so good.” I said to Liam’s mom as I was about to walk out the door. “Yes of course. Always.” She said with a sweet tone. “You want me to walk you home?” Liam asked, ready to take out his jacket. It was already getting kind of dark. I didn’t want to make him walk me home and then walk all the way back so I was about to decline his offer before his mom suddenly started pushing us both out. “Of course he’ll walk you home. That’s not even a question. Goodbye!” She said and closed the door behind us. “I guess so.” I said as he chuckled. The weather was still; it was nice out. We didn’t talk much but there was no need to. I didn’t always have to say something around Liam. Silence never became awkward in a situation like this.   “I guess you’re home.” He said. I was about to unlock the door when I noticed it was already unlocked. I pushed the door open and what I saw put terror inside my bones. Everything was a mess. Tables had fallen to the side. Vases have broken, pictures on the walls were now on the floor. Everything was a mess and all the lights were out. I looked at Liam who was just as surprised as I was. “Hello? I’m home.” I called out to see if anyone was there. No answer. “Liam?” I turned around to look at him, hoping he’d be able to explain what had happened here even though I knew he couldn’t. He went to one of the family pictures on the floor and picked it up. Put it back in its place. “What happened?” He asked in a low tone. Then I realized. The king and queen must’ve figured me out. They did look at me weirdly at the meeting. Did they take my parents? “Did the fairies take them?” I said out loud and Liam turned and shrugged. “Maybe it was just a random robbery and Amare and Ekon are now at the police station?” He suggested. I went back to close the front door when I noticed a small piece of paper stuck on it. “Hey, Liam look.” I said. He came to me and took the note. “Aria, we’ve taken your foster parents. If you want to see them again, surrender to us and they go free.” He read out from the note. I looked at him, felt defeated. He looked worried. Suddenly I was angry, worried, and sad at the same time. How can I possibly go back to living a normal life after this? They are just going to kill me. I will die. I felt a tear running down my cheek. Liam came to me and hugged me tightly. “We’ll find a way to get them back. Don’t worry. They will not kill you.” He said as if reading my mind. I hugged him back tightly and let a few more tears out. I felt his warmth through our clothes. It was comforting. I just needed Amare and Ekon safe. Whatever it takes.     Alyssa’s POV   “You are right Alyssa. I could feel her fairy, but only so slightly.” Father said to me as we split from Aria and her parents. I smiled in delight. Success. “Why is she here? No other fairy is assigned to this place.” Mother said and looked up to father. He wasn’t happy about the situation. “Her foster parents are not fairies. Only the girl. We need to get that girl in custody.” Father said.   As we came home the first thing I heard was father yelling: “Go find Aria in the town of Blue Belle now! She is a rouge fairy who lives with humans!” Then I saw five warriors run into a portal that leads to earth. I felt bad for doing this to Aria. But I was just following the rules my parents have made.
