Façade

❝broken— it hurts to turn the page, knowing they won't be in the next chapter.❞ 14|  Façade Aviana Sanchez | | Day 1: 8 January, 7.55 pm | I felt Matthia sitting beside me. "Matthia, you want to finish your dinner?" I asked pointing at the uneaten food he had left behind just now. "Not hungry anymore." The iciness in his voice had me flinching. "I'm sorry, I just lost my appetite," Matthia whispered, after realising how cold he had been. Matthia's body was tense and rigid. His jaw clenched showing off his prominent jawline. His hair was messy like he had been tugging at it roughly and his hands were still stuffed in his pocket. His pockets were stained a deep red colour. The deep red colour was almost like how I would describe the colour of blood would be. "Matthia, take your hands out of your pockets." "Listen Aviana...don't worry about it." "I wasn't asking Matthia. Show me your hands." Matthia sighed in defeat and reluctantly took his hands out of his pocket. His knuckles were split so bad that blood was still trickling. There was a gash on his palm that seemingly looked like a sharp object pierced his hands. I got up and held out my hand, "Matthia, let's get you patched up. C'mon." I felt arms wrap around my waist and his head rested on my neck. "Can we stay like this for a while?" I hear him mutter, his warm breath raising the hairs on my neck. "Sure, Matt." I felt droplets of water fall onto my neck and it took me only one second to wrap my arms around Matthia and to pat his back. In the one year, I have been his friend, Matthia has never cried or shown any emotion other than happiness, anger and annoyance. Seeing my best friend cry and that too without caring about the people around us broke my heart.  He must have been really hurt about something. "Matthia, do you want to talk about?" I softly whisper into his ear. "Some other time Aviana." I hear him say, his voice now hoarse from crying. His hold around my waist tightened for a second before he let go. "Let's patch your hands up shall we before we have to report for today's debriefing. Promise you won't avoid talking about this next time?" I ask, sticking out my pinky, wiggling it in front of his face. "Are you still a child?" Matthia arched his neatly plucked eyebrow. He saw the look on my face and my pinky and sighed. "Fine." He locked his pinky with mine. I chuckled. With that, I dragged him to the infirmary on-site. Nisrina Rodiguez | I put down my spoon after I finished eating dinner. I am so damn full. Jaden really knows how to cook a mean Chinese style fried rice with those ingredients. Yes, Jaden did cook everyone in our watch dinner since he's the only one who wouldn't burn down the makeshift stovetop. I look at Andre's gaze fixated on something. Okay, maybe someone. I see Matthia and Aviana hugging each other tightly in the distance. "Is playboy Serrano getting jealous?" I taunted the brooding boy in front of me. "Quit it Rodiguez," Andre muttered. "They are such an example you should aspire to be with your various conquests," I added on. I know I was adding fuel to the fire. I knew Andre and Aviana weren't just acquaintances. Jaden saw how I always accidentally managed to prick Andre all the time and told me how those two broke up sometime last year.  Andre is a jerk I'll admit but when Jaden told me the reason they broke up, I honestly think he deserves it for what he did. And I'm going to keep rubbing it in his face because Andre Serrano is the biggest asshole on this planet.  I can't believe that Aviana didn't punch the guy in the face when he stood in front of her. If it was me, I would have kicked his ass so hard that he flies all the way to China. "Keep staring at them, Serrano. All you can do is stare at them from now on. You lost her. And I'd say you deserve it." I smirked. "Quit it, Rodiguez, if not I'll f*****g murder you!" Andre yelled, his fists ready to pummel at me any moment. "I'm only holding back because you are a girl so I suggest you shut that trap you call your mouth and keep quiet," He boomed. His menacing threat made me want to taunt him even more. I wasn't scared of him. I'd say he deserves it for all the hearts he has played. "Andre, she'll never belong with you," I said in a sing-song voice. Andre just got up and stormed off. I can literally see how frustrated, annoyed and angry he was with me. Jaden was washing his reusable cutlery at the washing station. Isaiah got up and ready to chase after Andre before he causes some serious damage elsewhere. "Nisrina, whatever you heard wasn't the full story alright? I overheard you and Smith talking and I'll say you all have misunderstood him. He had his reasons. Don't try to break him even more with your words." "He had his reasons." "You all have misunderstood him." Maybe Serrano wasn't just an asshole who played girls. Maybe he's just a broken boy hiding under the playboy façade.  — longer than usual but you all deserve it love, L
