❝ my best dreams and worst nightmares— has that same boy in them ❞ 03|   Nightmares Aviana Sanchez | The world is a river. Shaking. Blurring at the edges. I can't tell up from down. I'm not sure if I'm breathing. A claustrophobic, blinding light ensnares the universe. I choke as I am pulled apart, as I slowly explode from the inside out... A scream is torn from my chest. Quickly, a shadow falls, washing away the blinding sharpness of the sky. A moment of silence. Then everything shatters. A sweet, smooth, mellifluous music flows gently through the glass. The mirrored edge of the world has broken into a million pieces, too thick to ever see-through, but still, the music comes. Relief floods my existence. The dulcet golden melody washes over everything, leaving a sort of glow in its wake. Honeyed, sweetly mellow, liquid, rich, smooth, euphonious. Slowly, slowly-slowly, I emerge. This feeling, I can't capture it with words. Standing, solitary, in the sweet golden glory, I remember. I am longing for a boy that never fought for me, I realize. Never. Always. Alone in the vanishing mist of harmony, I begin to cry. ... "Wake up Aviana! Wake up!" I can feel my body being shaken vigorously. Tears blurred my eyes. It is several moments before it clears. My eyes are really open. I can really see. "Matt..." I feel the sobs shackling me. "You are okay Aviana. You are here." Matthia cooed in my ear as he pressed my curled body against his chest, rocking me back and forth. "He never came back you know?" I felt a lone tear roll down my cheek. "It's alright Aviana, you'll get through it with us. Jaden and I will help you move on from that selfish bastard." Matthia said with conviction. For the first time, I believed him instead of believing that he might return. At that moment, I lost all hope of him coming back for me. He probably moved on and I'm going to do the same. This camp is for new beginnings. Everything is going to change. I can feel it. "Come on Avi, you want to go for breakfast and shop for camping stuff?" I know Matthia is trying hard because that guy sucks at consoling people. I mean Jaden broke up with a guy once and was super bummed about but he managed to make the optimistic guy mope around depressed for more than a month. That's how hopeless Matthia is at consoling and his emotionless jerk facade makes it even worse but he is trying I guess.  Plus, why is Matthia at my house at eight in the morning? Long story. Me and him live together. Classic story, I don't have family here and Matthia had some fight with his family. Matthia is rich, bought a house and found out about me struggling to pay rent and stuff. Bam. Here we are. Moving on. "I'm taking a shower, Matt!" "Be down in fifteen!" Fifteen minutes to turn from hideous rat mess to looking presentable. Easy. Yea, I don't think so. I think everyone knows the routine. I jump in and out of the shower at record speed then pick out clothes without my mind processing what's going on then quickly check whether my eyebrows are looking fine and then strut downstairs. Or at least this is my routine every single day not only today. If your eyebrows are on fleek, hon you don't have to worry about makeup. "Avi you ready?" "Yes Matt." We walk out to the garage. "Oh no." "Hell yes Matthia." "No way in the world Aviana Sanchez." "Using full names are we? Then hell yes I'm going to Matthia Lee." "I actually already did," I smirk as I hook my finger around his car keys and quickly slide into the driver's seat. "This will be the last f*****g time this will ever happen to my baby." "You always say that every single time Matthia," I say as I start his sweet baby. "Eagle Loft in ten minutes. Buckle up." "Eagle loft is on the other side of town! How are you going to go there in ten?" "Good question, how am I?" I smirked and threw a wink at him through the mirror and pressed the pedal hard. ... "On the way back I'm driving." "We'll see about that." I chuckled. "Two waffles stack and one vanilla milkshake." "Thank you," I smiled at the waitress before digging into the mouth-watering hot waffles in front of me. "Slow down Avi, the waffles aren't going to run away you know." "I...know...but...they...are...sooo...good!" I moaned as I stuffed more and more in my mouth. "I'd keep the moaning to a minimum Avi, people are staring." I look around and see some people looking at me with wide-eyes, a creepy old man giving me the eyes and an old couple looking at me like a piece of gum on their shoe. "Oops," I grinned at Matthia. "Come on let's go, we need to shop for camping materials." "What are the things we need?" "Sleeping bag, track pants, cool-fit shirts, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, are you listening Avi?" "Yes, yes, I'm listening." No, I'm not. "You know what Matt let's go to the store and then list the things we need." ... "Remind me to never bring you out for shopping." "Nah Matt, now you're going to be my go-to shopping buddy." "I deserved this." Matthia sighed. "You brought it upon yourself, Matt." "Gee, you don't need to keep on reminding me." "Let's go Jaden most probably has crashed the house," I say mindlessly. Shit. "Dammit, we left Jaden!" I panic. "Jaden is going to wreak havoc once he knows we went shopping without him." "He texted us yesterday in the group chat and we ditched him." "Are we screwed?" I ask Matthia. "You think?" He sassed back. — love, L
