1. A New School
"Payton, you don"t want to be late on your first day!"
"Coming mom!" Payton yelled, she sighed, her mom had been nagging her all last week about the new school she was going to, it wasn"t going to be like her last one, where she"d had friends like her, Chimera"s: part werewolf, werecoyote, and banshee. Pulling on her army jacket she glanced in the mirror and watched as her eyes turned a brighter green and seemed to glow, then faded back to a light green and stopped glowing.
The car horn honked, she rolled her eyes, grabbed her bag and ran down the stairs and out the door. "First day of school and your going to be late." her mother complained and pulled out of the drive way, Payton glanced at her with green eyes, "Don"t give me the eyes young lady." her mother scolded. She sighed and clicked on the radio, "Why did we even have to move?" she asked, looking out the window while they drove by. "Hun you know why," her mother sighed and turned down the radio, "Your father and I met again and now we"re together, and this house is our house."
"I don"t see why you love him," Payton muttered, clenching her teeth. "He hates Isaac, and me."
"He doesn"t hate you, he just..." she paused and turned a curve, "Doesn"t remember you. When he left, I was pregnant with Isaac, so, he doesn"t really know he"s his son, he thinks that I just had you. Give him some time, you"ll bond."
Payton scoffed "Yeah, and by bonding you mean-" she stopped as they pulled into the school lot and looked out the window, her eyes wide. "So big.." she whispered.
Her mother rested a hand on her shoulder, "You"ll do fine. Now, go make me proud and make some friends. Have fun!" she smiled and kissed her forehead, Payton smiled back and closed the car door and watched as the car drove off towards her mom"s new working place. She sighed, "Here goes nothing.." she muttered and entered the mad house of a school.

Payton walked through the doors and into the hall, all action and motion stopped, all eyes were on her, well, all the boy"s eyes were on her. Some whistled while others hooted and pretended to howl; Payton hated being pretty, it came natural from her chimera side and she despised it, although her mother said to be proud and show it off. She glanced at them and made her way to her locker, she opened it and put in a binder.
A pretty blonde girl walked up and smiled, "Hi, I"m Lily, are you the new student?" she asked, looking at Patyon. "It would seem so," Payton muttered and went through her locker. "Thats great! I"m here to show you around, uh.." she trailed off. "Payton," she sighed and closed her locker, slightly annoyed, "Payton Lahey."
"Lily Romeo." she smiled and sized her up, "I figured you might be alone for the first few days, so you can sit with me at lunch if you like."
"Really? That"d me great, thanks."
"No problem, I remember my first day here, I was so nervous, now I learned to just go with flow as they say!" She smiled, her blue eyes sparkling. She sighed as the bell rang, "That"s first class, I think we have it together so you can sit beside me if you like, Mr. Peter"s is often hard on newbies."
"Sounds good," Payton nodded and followed the blonde, down the hall and to a door that said "Mr. Peter"s Math Class" she clutched her binder and walked in.

"So, how do you like the school so far?"
Payton looked up from her lunch into the blue eyes of her new friend Lily and shrugged, "It"s okay I guess. Different people than my last one."
"I"m glad you came to this school and not any others," Mal said, the red head flipped her hair back with a laugh, she had joined them in math class and met Payton. "It"s good to have another girl, to many boys."
"Speaking of boys.." Lily trailed off and in leaned in close over her tray, Payton twirled her apple in her hands. "See anyone your interested in yet?"
"I"m....not really the type for dating." Payton said, with an amused look on her face.
"Why not?" Mal asked, glancing over at the table full of boys she called "hotties." "They"re so cute."
"Its complicated.." She replied, setting down her apple, "I never really thought of it before, guess i"m too busy."
"Well I hope you find someone, you"re so pretty and deserve someone good." Lily said, then with a wrinkled nose she added, "Just not Derek Hale."
"Derek Hale?" Payton leaned in a bit, looking at the two girls.
"He"s the co-captain of the basketball team, a major cutie, all the girls love him, but you know how that goes, he"s pure trouble."
"Speaking of trouble.." Lily pointed, Payton turned her head a bit and watched as a slightly tan boy with thick dark hair sat down with the rest of the team. She continued to state until he looked up and her green eyes met his brown ones, chills went up her spine and she turned back, but she could still feel him watching her.
"Maybe Jason"s right for you..." Mal was saying, Lily shook her head, "No, to much of a flirt. I know! How about Chase?"
"Nah, he"s dating that black headed girl, Susan? So you know how that"s gonna work out."
"Oh, right."
"I think I"m fine for now guys," Payton said with a smile, "But thanks for wondering."
"No probs! Hey! You should so come to the game! We could cheer on the boys! Except for, you know- Derek." Lily squealed.
"OMG yes!" Mal clapped her hands, her bracelets clanking together, "Sounds great! You so should! You could meet some of the boys.."
"I"ll go, but because I love the sport, not for the boys, gotcha?" Payton replied.
"Yay!" Both girls giggled, Payton smiled, perhaps this would be a good school year for her after all.
