"You can drop me off here Mom," Payton said, as her mother pulled into the car line at the school. "Okay hun, have a good day." Ms. Lahey said and stop the car. "Bye Isaac,"Payton waved to her little brother in the back seat as she shut the car door. "Bye Pay-Pay!" Isaac said cheerfully with s smile. "When do I come and pick you up?" Ms. Myers asked. "Um, Lily's taking me home today, we need to talk about the school Carnival." She turned and slung her bag over her shoulder. "Ah, any cute boys going to be there?" "Mom!" She sighed and waved, "Bye." "Bye Payton, make me proud!" Ms. Lahey waved and drove off. ~~~~ "I wanna follow where she goes. I think about her and she knows it. I wanna let her take control. 'Cause everytime that she gets close, yeah." Payton hummed along to the Shawn Mendes song as she stood at her locker, stuffing it full of binders and books. Who could blame her? Shawn was hot, well, hot to her, and she loved him, and one day he would be all her's. 'Mrs. Mendes.' she thought, 'Mrs. Payton Mendes." she sighed as the song continued, his face popping in her head. Of course he would be one she would be thinking about, his posters were all over her room and so were his albums, and not to mention her, erm, many Shawn Mendes tee shirts, sweat shirts and pajamas. Okay, so maybe she was a bit crazy about him, just a bit. "Payton!" Lily came running down the hall, her brown booties clicking and her earrings clinking. "Pay? Are you even hearing me?" Payton tapped her foot to the music and smiled, Lily rolled her ears and pulled her earbuds out. "Now can you hear me?" "Aw! That was the best part!" She complained and pulled out her phone, the music video was ending the re dhead was kissing Shawn. "Lucky dog." she muttered and stuffed it back in her book bag. "So how's you little problem?" Lily asked, opening her locker and smiling at herself in the small mirror she had put up. "You know, with Hale?" "Oh," she shrugged and looked at the picture from when they went to the photo shoot to get best friend pictures done with each other. "I guess it's okay? I haven't seen Derek yet." "Good," she glanced back in the mirror and quickly fixed her lipstick, that looked 'smeared' to her, "Are you doing anything this after noon?" Payton nodded, "I have to babysit." "Who? I didn't even know you had a job." Lily winked and pulled out a pink binder. She rolled her eyes and smiled, "My little-cutie-wootie-patootie-Stiles." "Cutie-wootie-patootie?" she looked at her, "that sounds like something I would call my dog or boy friend," she paused, "scratch that last part." "Stiles is adorable and is my baby, I always watch him when his parents need me to, he's like the angel child that everyone wants. We always do some Nerf war in the yard the Disney movies and snacks." "Pay, no child is an angel child. That's what my mom said about my brother Cameron, now it's gotten to his head and he blames EVERYTHING on me." She laughed, "But you love him still, that's just like me with Isaac." "If I didn't love him, I wouldn't put up with his but." Payton laughed and moved aside a stack of books that revealed a Shawn poster, her eye lashes fluttered and put a hand on it, "Mrs. Payton Mendes.." she muttered, Lily glanced at her. "Are you for real?" she asked. "What?" Payton stole a look at her and moved the stack of books back. "He's so hot Lil's." "You've got the hots for a famous guy, but not one for any guy in this school, except for-" she looked ahead, "speak of the devil." "Hale think fast!" Jacobs yelled and shot the ball in the air. Derek turned a bit but the ball was already past; Payton slightly stumbled as she managed to catch it, Lily just stood with her mouth open in shock. "Yo, throw us the ball!" Jacobs yelled, putting his hands up, Derek turned to look at her. Payton twirled the ball in her hands then tossed it to him, the ball made a swishing sound as it sailed in the air and Jacobs caught, everyone clapped and cheered for her. She looked around sheepishly and turned back to her locker, Lily nudge her and she turned to see Derek making his way towards her, a small smile playing on his lips. "Not bad Lahey." he said. "Just luck. I prefer lacross, Hale." She said, brushing some brown locks behind her ear. "Could use you on the team," Derek continued. She sighed, "Last I checked, it's a boys only team here." "True. But you could at least come to the practices," A smile tugged at Payton's lips, "Maybe." she said and felt her face heat up. Lily butted in and grabbed her arm, "Well it was really great talking to you Derek, but we have class." she smiled and pulled her friend towards the history class. Payton smiled, she felt happy (but deep down she felt like: giphy)
