Settings:

The story unfolds in a mystical world where werewolf packs live in hidden territories, surrounded by forests and mountains. Liana’s exile cottage sits on the outskirts of her former pack’s lands, while the Alpha’s home base, a small yet close-knit pack struggling under a curse, is nestled deep within the heart of a dense, enchanted forest.

Blurb

Liana has lived in exile for years because of a birthmark, known as “The Mark of the Forsaken,” which her pack believes brings a terrible curse. But when Ryker, an Alpha in need of help, finds her, Liana has a chance to prove that her mark might be the key to saving his pack. As the two work together, Liana uncovers secrets about her heritage—and a power within her that she never knew she possessed. But with her heart and her life on the line, Liana must make an impossible choice: embrace the power that could save everyone at the cost of losing her fated mate or risk everything to find another way.

Exposition

The story begins by introducing Liana’s life in isolation, with flashbacks revealing how her birthmark led her pack to fear her, forcing her into exile. Rumors about “The Mark” swirl among the packs, and Liana’s life of loneliness and survival has shaped her into a wary and hardened soul.

Inciting Incident

Liana’s quiet life is shattered when Ryker, the Alpha of a nearby pack, arrives at her door, seeking her help. His pack has been plagued by an unbreakable curse, and after hearing legends of “The Mark,” he believes that Liana may be his only hope. Initially reluctant, Liana agrees, seeing a chance to finally be accepted and find purpose.

Rising Action

As Liana and Ryker work together to break the curse, they grow close, their fated mate bond intensifying their connection. Liana begins to unlock strange powers tied to her mark, which allow her to hold sway over the supernatural forces behind the curse. However, she discovers dark truths about her family’s past and the curse’s origins, which reveal that her ancestors created the curse to protect against a greater evil.

Meanwhile, Ryker’s initial secret intentions to use Liana as a possible sacrifice to break the curse come to light. Liana struggles to trust him, and her conflicting emotions create tension between them, making their bond even more precarious.

Climax

Liana faces a devastating choice: use her powers to fully defeat the enemy causing the curse, which could save Ryker’s pack but may cost him his life, or attempt a riskier, untested path that could save everyone without sacrifice. At the height of her internal struggle, Liana must confront the part of herself that longs for acceptance and the part that fears her power.

Denouement

In the end, Liana’s choice has lasting consequences on her relationship with Ryker, her understanding of her power, and her sense of belonging. Whether or not she finds a way to save him and the pack, Liana finally understands the truth about her heritage and accepts herself fully, stepping into her role not as a curse, but as a force of hope for her people.

Chapter 5: THE STRANGER IN THE WOODS
Chapter 5: THE STRANGER IN THE WOODS Liana stepped outside her cabin on a bright morning. The early morning air was fresh carrying the earthy fresh dew. She took a deep breath, enjoying the quietness around her. Every morning, she went out to gather firewood, check her traps, and look for berries or plants she could use. Life in the forest was challenging, but Liana had grown used to it. She knew the sounds of the animals, the paths through the trees, and the places where water flowed clean and clear. Here, in her small world, she felt safe. As she walked along the forest path, her mind drifted to the strange rumors she’d overheard about the cursed Alpha. She wondered what he looked like, what kind of man could lead a pack under such a heavy shadow. She tried to forget the thoughts; thinking about the outside world only made her feel lonely. The pack had rejected her, and the forest was the only home she knew now. Suddenly, the sound of a branch snap made her freeze. Liana’s instincts sharpened as she crouched low to understand the reason for the snap. It was rare for anyone to come this far into the forest, especially near her cabin. She felt her heart beat faster as she strained her ears to listen. At first, there was only silence, but then she heard the footsteps again approaching through the brush. Her first thought was to hide. She didn’t trust strangers, especially wolves from other packs. But something kept her in place, a strange feeling she couldn’t explain. She held her breath, waiting. Slowly, then someone emerges from the trees. He was tall, with dark hair that fell around his face. His looked sharp and striking, his jaw strong, and his eyes were fascinating, Liana felt herself caught in the intensity. He looked powerful and confident, but there was also weariness in his eyes, a heaviness that seemed to settle on his shoulders like a weight. The stranger stopped when he saw her, surprise filled his face. For a moment they both looked at each other stunned without explanation. Liana felt shivers all over her, but she kept cool. Finally, he spoke, his voice deep and steady. “Are you…Liana?” The way he said her name made her shiver and her skin filled with goosebumps. She hadn’t heard anyone call her by name in years. She tried to hide her confusion. “Who wants to know?” The man took a step forward, his gaze fixed on hers. “My name is Ryker. I’m the Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack.” Liana lost her breath at the mention of his name. So this was the cursed Alpha she had heard about. She has thought of many things but all not in the category of what’s happening right now. She hasn’t expected someone like him to be standing in front of her, alone in the middle of the forest. “I need your help,” Ryker said, his voice filled with desperation she hadn’t expected. “They told me about you and your mark.” Liana immediately lowered her sleeve to cover the dark birthmark on her arm, a habit she had developed over time. She felt a rush of anger at the mention of the mark. The last thing on her mind was that was someone dragging her into the very world she was trying to forget. She crossed her arms, meeting his gaze defiantly. “Why would I help you?” Ryker was short of words to answer Liana’s question. He muttered “I know you’ve been treated unfairly. And I don’t expect you to trust me. But my pack is suffering. My pack is affected by a curse and I think you might be the only one who can help us break it.” Liana listened to him with her heart beating with mixed emotions but kept her face normal and wasn’t willing to allow him to see through her. She had spent years alone, learning to fend for herself, and the idea of moving back into pack life, especially to help a stranger made her feel uneasy. “I’m not sure what you’ve heard about me, but I don’t have any powers,” she said, her tone guarded. “I’m just different.” Ryker shook his head. “I don’t believe that. There’s something special about you, something I believe you might not even know about yet. This mark is a sign of power, not a curse. The elders from other packs believe you’re the key to stopping this darkness that’s taken hold of my people.” She took a deep breath, trying to arrange her thoughts. “And if I say no? What then?” Ryker’s gaze didn’t waver. “Then I’ll respect your choice. But know this: if you can lift the curse, it might be the only way to find out the truth about who you are.” There was utter silence between them. Liana felt her resolve wavering. She had always wondered about her mark, about why she was so different. If there was even a small chance that helping Ryker could give her answers, could she turn it down? “I need some time to think,” she finally said, with a low tone. Ryker looked at the sky and responded. “I understand. I’ll be nearby if you need me. Please, just consider it. My people, we don’t have much time.” He turned and began to walk away quietly into the forest as he had come. Liana stood there, watching him go, her mind filled with different thoughts and emotions. She had a belief that this encounter was more than a coincidence. But she also knew that following him meant stepping into a world of uncertainty and danger. Liana walked back to her cabin with her thoughts filled with various questions. Why had he come looking for her? What was this curse, and why did he believe she could help? And, most importantly, could she be more than just the “forsaken” outcast she had always believed herself to be? The forest around her seemed different, somehow. The trees felt taller as if they were watching her, and encouraging her to make a choice. for the first time in years, she felt real hope and she believed her life was about to change.
