CHAPTER TWO

459 Words
As Tweeny and Kelvin arrived at Don Pope Francis' mansion, they couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. The air was thick with an eerie silence, and the trees surrounding the property seemed to lean in, as if listening to their every conversation. "Tweeny, I told you this was a bad idea," Kelvin whispered, his eyes scanning the perimeter of the property. But Tweeny was resolute. "We need to know the truth about Mira's family and their connection to Mr. Sandman." Just as they approached the entrance, four burly men emerged from the shadows, their faces obscured by ski masks. "Welcome, gentlemen," one of them growled. "We've been expecting you." Tweeny and Kelvin exchanged a nervous glance as the men surrounded them. "You're investigating Don Pope Francis," the leader stated, his voice firm. "We can't let that happen." With a swift motion, the men bound their wrists and dragged them into a dimly lit room deep within the mansion. "You'll be set free," the leader sneered, "only if you agree to drop the case." Tweeny and Kelvin exchanged a defiant glance. They knew they had stumbled into something sinister, and they were determined to uncover the truth... Tweeny managed to escape from the dimly lit room, his wrists still bound by the rope. He stumbled through the mansion, desperate to find a way out. Finally, he saw a glimmer of light and made a dash for it, bursting through the front door and sprinting down the driveway. Gasping for breath, Tweeny reached the nearest payphone and dialed the police. "Please, you have to believe me!" he urged the dispatcher. "We've been kidn*pped and held captive at Don Pope Francis' mansion!" But when the police arrived, Tweeny's relief was short-lived. The head officer, Nomanis, sneered at him with a yellow-toothed grin. "Well, well, well. Look what we have here. Tweeny, the troublemaker." Nomanis had an old grudge against Kelvin, and it seemed he was eager to settle the score. "I don't believe a word you're saying, Tweeny," Nomanis sneered. "You're just trying to stir up trouble." Meanwhile, Kelvin was still being held captive in the mansion. But to his surprise, the men who had bound him earlier now freed him, their faces expressionless. "You're lucky we can't kill you... yet," one of them growled. "But know this - you're being watched. Drop the case, or face the consequences." Kelvin knew he had to tread carefully. He had stumbled into something sinister, and he needed to find out who was pulling the strings. As he made his way back to his car, he noticed a small piece of paper on the seat. It was a note, scribbled in haste: "Meet me at the old warehouse at midnight. Come alone."
